I don't understand why there is a constant need to check "what time of the day" the witness knew about or did something, especially if it's like 2-3 months ago. Imagine you're being interrogated about something that happened so long ago, isn't it already more than sufficient and good enough if can even recall the dates that happened? Of course, if this is a murder case, I would agree timing of the day is very crucial. But we're talking about a non-capital case that stretched over a very long period of time.
there are allowances to the exact timings in such proceedings, including the courts. no need to remember to the exact minute. But important they need to have a rough idea of when and where cos it gives time and spacial context to the evidence
