In this episode we're covering the Commando.
It's a fully automatic weapon, unlocked at level 44.
The Colt Commando is a US weapon, a shortened variant of the M16 platform and a precursor to the M4 Carbine.
The specific model that most closely resembles the one seen in Black Ops - the Colt Model 733 - was introduced after 1982, although there did exist similar weapons during the Vietnam conflict.
The Commando has its roots in the AR-15 platform designed by Eugene Stoner for Armalite in 1957: In 1959 the rights to the design were sold to Colt, and they developed the design as the CAR-15 series.
The platform was broadened to fit different roles - and a short-barrelled carbine variant was designed to fit an intermediate niche between full-sized rifle and SMG.
The first such shortened CAR-15 emerged as early as 1962, and by 1966 Colt introduced the 'Commando' appellation to their carbine designs.
One such Commando design - the model 610 - was designated as the XM177 by the US Army, and the designs that followed would lay the basis for the XM4 in 1988 - the very carbine that would eventually become the M4.
The Commando fires the NATO-standard 5.56mm intermediate cartridge, the same as the M16.
Magazines are, again, the same as used by M16 rifles - and although modelled after a 20-round mag will hold 30 rounds in-game.
Extended mags will give you 45 rounds instead.
The Commando is a moderate-high damage weapon, on par with both the AK-47 and the Galil.
You'll kill in 3 shots to the body up close, or two to the head - and at a distance you may need up to 4 shots to kill.
Like the other high-damage automatic rifles, rate of fire is moderate - 750 rounds per minute.
Because of this slower rate of fire, and a generally low level of kick: recoil is fairly mild on the Commando.
Its actual performance is identical to the AK-47 - but the AK's visual recoil is quite severe, meaning the Commando will feel much more stable during automatic fire.
Aim time is standard for an assault rifle, at 250 milliseconds - and reloads are the second fastest in its class, at 2.05 seconds.
The Commando is a versatile weapon with favourable handling characteristics.
Rock steady under automatic fire and dealing consistent damage out to a middle range, it's an excellent weapon for any aggressive player than demands consistency in their loadout.
It doesn't lack speed, either - with a fast reload and serviceable aim time and hipfire, the weapon is adaptable and suited to almost any situation.
However, facing a specialised weapon on its own terms can be troublesome - going toe-to-toe with an SMG up close may not always end in your favour.
Ideally, you'll enter any gunfight aiming ahead of time and anticipating your enemy's movement - but should you be taken by surprise the Commando may start to show its weakness.
Still, it might not be the most deadly weapon in a close-range gunfight, but the Commando shines at a middle range, and handles in a pleasingly consistent manner.

Edward Food Reviews He had to stop doing them after the AK74u before he got hired by Activision to voice MW3 videos for CoD Elite. He made one more after I think a few months as sort of a return/sendoff (the Famas) and then explained that due to the contract he signed with Activision he was swamped with work and also wouldn't be able to produce MW3 weapon guides for his own channel, though he did make a really high production value video on the FN FAL called Behind the Lines. Then when MW3 was released, he made a compromise series of sorts, talking about the new weapons in MW3 and their history but not giving any in game tips or stats, as that would breach his contract. He also started a series called Time to Kill where he explored core mechanics in CoD. After popular demand he brought back his Black Ops series, (remember people at that time were all coming around to loving Black Ops and wanting to see TH-cam videos on it more than MW3) for a while alternating between posting a Black Ops guide and a MW3 or TTK, until he finished those series and turned his sole focus to finishing Black Ops, unless you count the fun little videos he made on drinks called Beverage Guide Express and the usual Q+A's he did over the clips that didnt make it into his weapon guides. If I remember right, he finished the Black Ops guides just before Black Ops 2 came out.

Honestly COD started going downhill after BO. BO was the pinnacle of COD, IMO. COD4 is right behind. MW3 was eh, and BO2 was eh. I stopped playing after that.
@@SFforlife That’s a hard disagree from me. All-around good COD games ended with BO2. CODs with decent campaigns and were (at least) original for the series ended with Infinite Warfare.

Exon Gaming I've heard PS3 to have pretty bad problems with Black Ops, mostly ones based around connection. 360 has similar problems, but to a lesser degree of severity.

Kieran O'Donnell black ops guns were super lazy (same irons sights damage characteristics and rpm) and didn’t sound right in my opinion
I loved the campaign and I will say it's one of the best call of duty games ever made, but for some reason I couldn't really get used to how the guns felt in multiplayer. TLDR I sucked

it loses to every SMG in the game on nuketown.
Most SMGs in Black Ops need an extra shot to kill, which isn't too splendid.

Well, that one doesn't take an extra shot, obviously, and is arguably the best gun in Black Ops since you can put Rapid Fire on it.

james pawny AUG has a higher centerspeed, symmetric recoil (mostly straight up), faster ADS speed, and a smaller hip-fire spread. A slower reload is a very minor penalty, as it's still an acceptable speed.

the commando in black ops 1 doesn't make any sense because it's carrying handle is removed and back then ar-15s had non removable carrying handles i think. They should have done it with the carrying handle on and made it resemble an xm177 like what was actually in vietnam
Eric Hart Majority of the guns in the game are fictional, or prototypes. To add to the outlandish theme, they made the Commando with the flat-top rail. It also means that the aimpoint wouldn't have to be altered so much, because mounting optics on the carry handle itself would be a little uncomfortable for a lot of people.

I kind of agree with paul21 down there, It does have very good hip fire. I love the commando because of its mid-range performance, and buffs out its unfavorable close range handling with good hip-fire.

Never understood why COD always removed the front sight when mounting any optics onto a weapon. Most modern weapons do have flip-up iron sights whether having a set of folding back up iron sights equipped or having them come with similar sights straight out of the factory like the FN Mk.16 or 17 (SCAR) or IWI TAR-21/X95 for example. This is especially inaccurate and not feasible with AR-15 platform weapons since the front sight post doubles as the weapon system's gas block. You can shave these down to remove the post, but it cannot be removed completely or else it would turn the weapon in to a single-shot only weapon requiring the user to manually chamber each round much like a bolt-action rifle.
Yes you're right removing the front sight off the AR-15 would disrupt the gas. However You gotta remember Black Ops was during 'Nam so most weapons of the time didn't have flip iron sights. But then again they didn't have very reliable reflex sights and scopes though. I think they remove the front sight so the reticle is not blocked by the post but it works in Battlefield.
Super Mahilo more like the K31 and you can always cowhitness your optic. At least that's what i plan on doing when i get an optic for my rifle

I like the overall sharp look to BO over MW. MW is more smooth and dark textures while BO is sharp and bright.

I know XboxA don't really care but, I grew up playing COD and it was a big part of gaming. I really got into it in BO1 even though my friends started around MW2 back then. Me and my 3 best friends would play hundreds of hours of COD over the years and I would watch XboxAhoy vids for tips and just history information about guns in the game. I heard awhile back he stopped making these vids because he wanted to expand his Content which is good for him, but for me personally that literally killed my interest in his content. I've here over a decade later watching his old content even though I know he has new content because of that 1 decision. I don't see why he couldn't continue this format while making another channel. There's a COD game every 1-2 years to pump out vids for that while doing other content. Many TH-camrs have 2 or more channels.
After more as a decade i think this was the second best game i have ever played for months maybe for years right after modern warfare. it war 2007 or 2008 im not sure anymore. foak the time goes by. this is 15 years ago and i miss these time. now i have my own family and i miss my mother who said always "stop playing this shit and go to bad. tomorrow is school day dammit"
its for people new to the series/ game. in mw2 the red dot and holo were glitched/intentionally made better or worse depending on the gun. i think it will still be nice to cover the attatchements

I just realized that Colt puts "X" before a guns military designation to show that its in experimentation. For example the XM8 will eventually be known as the M8 or M8A1 carbine.
With the Commando's low recoil and high damage, you can be sure that it will "lunge" your score to the top.
The M27 IAR (or Infantry Assault Rifle) is a real gun that is manufactured by H&K and although it shares some external features with the M4/M16 family of rifles, it uses a different gas mechanic to fire the bullet. The M27 is based on the HK 416 and is a slightly larger variant with sustained fire being it's primary role. It was designed to replace the M246 Light Machine Gun and is currently being used by the US Military.

Haha, I like them both pretty equally! I do well with both. I must admit though, I do use the AK a bit more than the Commando. They're both pretty good killing machines, in my opinion.

The Commando appears to most closely resemble a GAU-5A/A which was either a Colt M630 or M649, rather than an M733 due to, among other things, the lack of a forward assist. The ArmaLite AR-15 was also designed by Bob Fremont & L Sullivan. It was designed in 1956, not '57.

Apparently the Canada C8 came out before the M4 in the 1980s instead of the 1990s.

The first is more of a flanking style class, and lower killstreaks. The second is for higher killstreaks

It has. He mentioned that he went to a range when he was taking a trip to L.A. and he owns a shotgun (you can own those in the U.K.) but he didn't say what gun he shot in LA, and I think he has never shot his shotgun (the nearest range to him is over 80 miles away I think he said.)
