In this episode we're covering the fifth SMG, the Uzi.
It's a fully automatic weapon, unlocked at level 23.
Like the Galil, it's an Israeli weapon, manufactured by Israel Military Industries, or IMI.
The weapon is as old as the State of Israel itself - with the design dating to 1948.
The Uzi takes its name from its designer - Major Uziel Gal of the IDF.
Largely thanks to the Uzi's simple construction and low production cost, in 1951, the weapon was adopted by the Israeli Defense Force.
It found its way into the hands of IDF Special Forces by 1954, where its compact size and automatic firepower made it ideal for clearing bunkers and entrenched positions.
The weapon would go on to see a half-decade of reliable service, and a number of variants: such as chamberings for .45 ACP, .41 Action Express - and the scaled-down Mini-Uzi and Micro Uzi models - with their diminutive size enhancing concealability and with an increased cyclic rate of fire when compared to the parent SMG.
The Uzi remained in service with the IDF until late 2003, when its role was ultimately replaced by the Micro Tavor, or MTAR-21.
The Uzi fires the 9-by-19 millimetre Parabellum cartridge - fairly typical for an SMG of its era.
Magazines are of a standard box type, manufactured in capacities between 20 and 50 rounds - in Black Ops default magazines are of a 32-round capacity.
The Uzi is a low damage SMG, typically needing 4 shots to kill at a close range, and 5 at a distance.
Mercifully, rate of fire is high - at 937.5 rounds per minute, on par with most of the low-damage SMGs.
Perhaps the most notable feature of the Uzi is its heavy recoil - it suffers from the highest degree of kick in the SMG category by quite some margin.
Paired with its rather obtrusive iron sights, the Uzi has a reputation of being tough to handle that serves to make it an unpopular choice.
Aim time is quick, however - like the other SMGs, aiming down your sights will take 200 milliseconds.
Reloads are fairly average in duration, taking 2.4 seconds to complete - although the favourable magazine size means reloading is less frequent overall than with some of the weapons in the Uzi's class.
The Uzi, then, is a weapon with a whole host of negative traits - but, some of the attachments on offer can help remedy its performance issues.
The iron sights on the Uzi are arguably the most obstructive of any weapon, and as such will hamper your efforts to quickly acquire a target, and can make the sizable recoil difficult to control.
With 48 rounds between reloads, the Uzi has some of the best sustained fire capability in the SMG category.
High capacity and a high rate of fire means that this firepower is effective from the hip, and you'll have the capacity to tackle multiple enemies at once.
Getting close to your enemy is essential, but it's important to avoid head-on firefights with larger groups of enemies - 2 or 3 alert foes with a FAMAS in-hand will prove tough to beat in a straightforward firefight.
Flanking your opponent becomes essential to make good use of the Uzi, then - break away from your team-mates and take the long route to strike unseen instead.
The Uzi is a weapon that's tough to master - but one that leads its class in capacity.
Paired with a generous fire rate and effective hipfire performance, 48 rounds will go a long way in a close-range firefight, reducing the odds that you'll be left high and dry, with a need to reload.
The spectacular level of recoil puts many off however, doubly so when paired with perhaps the worst iron sights in-game.
Those extra few rounds seem like a scant benefit when compared to these downsides, when there are alternatives that handle much better with equivalent damage output.
However, in practical terms these downsides are exaggerated - whilst fearsome at first, the Uzi's recoil isn't a factor within your effective range, and can be tamed to a degree with careful use of the trigger.
This weapon can be challenging to use - but become acquainted with its quirks, and performing well - will be Uzi.
interestingly, because the main sound of the decoy grenade is the same as the uzi, there is potential for the enemy to ignore you or your decoy grenades

Technically, that's what the real life iron sights are like. In CoD4/MW2, the characters use the sights wrong.

The Uzi, Spectre, and MPL are my favorite SMG's to use.
Just noticed that the Reflex Site (at 9:09) gives you a field of view diameter of 4 cms, 1 cm larger than the Red Dot Site's 3 cms (at 3:01). This is one of the few times the Reflex's view is actually less cluttered than the RDS and allows for more peripheral awareness around the dot itself.
The Reflex Warlorded with Grip or Silencer could be pleasant little combinations...

People say its useless, but if you equip it with an extended mag, throw on steady aim and lightweight, you have a lethal hipfire weapon. Throw in akimbo pythons, you have a lethal loadout.
The Uzi is actually really effective with rapid-fire and steady aim if you adopt a shotgun mentality and only engage at close range. Basically if your far enough away from them to require aiming down sight you are completely outclassed by practically every other primary however if your up close with a steady aim rapid fire Uzi you surprisingly outclass quite a few of the other primaries.(Shotguns excluded obviously).

yeah that's why I switched to battlefield, more realistic. Everyone has different tastes in video games though
the Skorpion in this game (and Cod 4 to a lesser extent) has excellent recoil control, but the one in MW3 directly after has fucking atrocious recoil, granted it's allowed as a secondary.
I think they tried to make it a pocket FAMAS, being it fires fast but has ass damage. Which on paper a more mobile FAMAS with a less damage downside sounds good, but nah it sucks.

When he did the Weapon Guides for CoD ELITE his contract had some fine print saying he couldn't do any similar weapon guides for MW3 on TH-cam. He didn't find this out until he was several episodes deep into Weapon Guide Express, and all of those episodes got taken down. So he's left only being able to cover weapon history for MW3 guns - that's why he's opted to produce Weapons of Modern Warfare.

stealth and surprise up close in personal go for 1v1s dont go for multiples unless you got the jump on them and your teamates are supporting fire speaking of which the uzi is also a good support weapon with other teamates fire. hows that for you or so you need more.
Michael Henriquez Those are just general strategies you can use with any SMG, not just the Uzi. Anybody can win a surprise 1v1 with any SMG if their aim is true (even Dual Wield SMG's), and if you want a support weapon, the Spectre pretty much plays the exact same role, or any role the Uzi can play for that matter, except with much better accuracy.
The only way I think you could ever value the Uzi over the Spectre is if you truly need an extra 8 starting rounds in your starting ammo loadout, which is exceedingly rare. I remain unconvinced from your arguments. Unless you have an actual *statistical* reason as to why the Uzi should be used au lieu of the MPL or Spectre, I'll believe you don't actually have one.

i dunno if this guy is being sarcastic, but this is legitimately one of my most used guns in blops. it's not a good weapon, but it's a ton of fun to play with
This gun has a slow cyclic rate around 600 rpm in real life. Pair that with its heftiness and low-power 9x19mm round, and you have a very controllable firearm in full-auto. In-game it fires over 50% faster and kicks like a mule. It handles much more like a Mini-Uzi in this game, and almost like a Micro-Uzi when you equip Rapid Fire.
Yes. Uzi is supposed to be a very easy handling. Probably similar to MP7. However in COD games the Uzi family usually has crazy firerate and low accuracy.
Yeah I can't stand how treyarch butchered the uzi here. Plus they made the m1911 a pea shooter in this game when irl it fires a .45 acp!

I actually like the Uzi. I used it maybe a few months ago and got a lot of good games with it. I've done 65-8 with it, and I'm not very good. he basically said everything I'd recommend with it.

Hello, this is XBOXAHOY, and this is Ultimate Weapon. Today, its the FMG9 from MW3. The FMG( or Fu**ing Massacre Gun 9 is a destructively powerful gun in MW3. Its fire rate is Over 9000 kills a minute, which is extremely fast. It also has a damage of 100000 at close range and can drop people in 0.00000000000000000000000000000001 milliseconds.
The best attachment by far is the Akimbo attachment, doubling the amount of ammo to 72 and the damage output to 12000 kills a minute. (Ultimate Weapon)

It's neat how the terrible iron sights are migitated on the Wii port, having the ability to move your weapon to almost any point on screen, you can quickly flick the weapon out of the way to see more clearly.
I remembered the iron sight still looks like crap on Wii. Not to mention other SMGs are held by one hand on Wii and have clearer views and Uzi is not benefited from it at all.

it's not that bad in-game. its fun when you get the hang of it, it just simply hipfire it.
ah the uzi.. def not perfect, but not as bad as people thought. I found the recoil was only a problem when you went for targets outside it's effective range. the irons actually helped me to play to it's strengths and never used a sight. the decoy grenades worked in tandem with the uzi.. and was capable of the largest mag size almost reaching 50... back in the day this was incredibly helpful to me in domination. completely misunderstood weapon....
This video makes me miss Black Ops. Can't wait for the sequel!

I loved the mini uzi, and tried this out and wasn't all that happy with it. It made me mad that the Uzi, the gun of the Cold War, was so useless. Even after seeing it in TONS of action movies and things, this gun just didn't perform well. I then realized that I was using it wrong. Its a hip fire weapon! Once I figured that out, it was good. Slapped on a red dot sight to help too! If you never tried this gun, give it a chance!
I like the way the Uzi handles. Very consistent. And even though the mpl is better, I bought the game, so of course I will use every weapon.
And btw, the mpl is my favorite weapon because when you put the silencer on it, it looks like a mouse

Tell people what attachments you want them to use, and they send in their gameplay clips, and you sort them out(time consuming, yes) and pick the best ones? without attaching grip to the Uzi starfing while aiming down sight will help tolerate its recoil and will become a bit more accurate and the suppressor will make it just a bit more accurate but still a little weaker and shorter ranger

I got a feeling the Uzi is going to be a lot of players favorite gun now or at least the top.
i was a PC player but got tired of upgrading graphics card every year so i bought an xbox and let me say this, pc gaming was BY FAR the easy way, learning to aim with those sticks was a pain, mouse and keyboard are the ultimate easy mode for FPS.
Why do people hate the Uzi but LOVE the F2000? The Uzi has SMG crosshairs & handling. The F2000 has assault rifle crosshairs & handling. The Uzi has very small irons & it shakes CONSTANTLY when you fire. The F2000 has a LOT more muzzle flash, but has a larger ring around its front post than the Uzi, so it's much easier to acquire targets with. The Uzi is better hipfired but the F2000 doesn't tie up your perk slot for sleight of hand. I think that the assault rifle pros outweigh the SMG pros here

This is purely referring to the bonus footage videos. But they are so much more enjoyable now. Stuart, you have seemed to lose that "all business" attitude from the MW2 videos and some of the earlier Black Ops videos. Now the videos have a loose, relaxed and fun feeling to them, and they even more exiting to watch. Keep the videos coming :)

I was a PC gamer for 7 years. yeah it was easy, but so was the adaption to consoles. The Xbox was easy to adapt. the P3 on the other-hand, still not used to the controller. the xbox feels for natural to my hand.

The MTAR-21, is a carbine version of the TAR-21 (since the TAR was already as short as the M-4 carbine the MTAR is as short as a SMG) chambered for the 9mm Parabellum round
My favorite weapon in black ops. If you practice a little with it, you'll find it not that bad. And who cares its not the best gun in the game, the UZI is legendary!
