I think Treyarch saw what Infinity Ward did with the M16 and wanted to keep the gun within it's reputation. OR it was done to balance out the damage, range and accuracy.
The model depicted in game is actually more based on the earlier Colt 602 model as opposed to the M16A1. One misconception about the rifle during Vietnam: the reliability issues. They were due in part to the fact that service members weren’t issued the proper ammo and the first supply of rifles weren’t issued cleaning kits due to a huge misconception about them being self cleaning rifles.

How do you fit 30 rounds in a 20-round mag? Why do so many games get that wrong?! BrainBread got that wrong too, but it's a mod (not that that's an excuse). Anyway, in Borderlands 1, the closest comparable rifle to the classic M-16 is the Dahl Intense Cobra with barrel5, body5, stock5, sight2 or better, material3 (which is desert camo for Dahl), and an 18-round base mag capacity (the alternative being 12 which is lame, as if 18 wasn't lame enough). And here I thought 20-round mags were wimpy.
@@judsongaiden9878 Since the cartridge is smaller in size so does the weight it allowed soldiers to carry more 5x45mm for the same weight with the 7.62x39mm
@@wolfroze9703 That's one of the reasons why they switched to 5.45. Of course, that was secondary to the primary goal which was increased effective range.
I think that instead of taking hardened, you should take warlord for the second attachment. That way you can equip the masterkey & the ACOG scope so you can potentially be effective at all ranges.
Depends on play style and opponets. If you like speed and aggressive tactics then the ak if fine with its full auto fire and decent damage. But if you play more defensively then the m16 will be better as it is better at holding sight lines.
lol how does loving someones voice equate to homosexuality? or sexual attraction regardless of gender anyways lol? yeah i agree with what your trying to stay
I don't know what it is about this but I just want to keep watching it.I think its the fact that it is like a montage of clips with the gun.I think this is very entertaining
Why does this weapon have a 3-round burst rate of fire in Multiplayer and in Zombies while being full-auto in the campaign? That never made sense to me.
Real M16 was full auto or 3 round burst. M16 full auto but soldiers spray end pray M16A2 redesing for semi end 3round burst with no full auto M16A3 full auto for Navy Seal M16A4 3 round burst for Marine Corps In short way. In details it's quite more complicated. Becouse USA army use whole km/mile long list of different AR15 type rifles.
It makes sense once you know the M16's history; The M16A2, the first burst fire variant, wasn't introduced until the 1970s, the variant seen in Black Ops is the Automatic M16A1. The M16 in Multiplayer would seem redundant among the Enfield, Galil, AK-47 and Commando, creating an abundance of similarly performing, medium fire rate assault rifles, so it adopted the characteristics of the A2 for the sake of variety
I wish the M16's Carry Handle went away with Sight Attachments in BOCW. Why the fuck did they decide that? It doesn't look good at all. It looks wrong, it makes me want to say my prayers to Eugene Stoner.
Treyarch didn't make a good call making the M16 the beginner assault rifle. It is anything but versatile, as it's the least versatile assault rifle in Black Ops. It is terrible in CQC, and is a long range specialist weapon. I'm not saying it's a bad weapon, as it is a force to be reckoned with at range with an ACOG Scope, but for players that are just starting the game, the Enfield is a much more suitable beginner-friendly weapon. The M16 is anything but well-rounded, and requires a smart player to lean into its niche and know how to compensate for its short range deficiency. The M16 gaining 100 centerspeed from the ACOG Scope is so incredibly helpful, it makes the rifle much more accurate while giving you a long-range optic, ideal for the exact range of engagements the M16 excels at. I think the MTAR being the beginner assault rifle in BO2 is proof that Treyarch learned their lesson.
TFS_Humor ikr im good with dat gun and when i started with a friend from other psn users from level 1 i was using m16 and he was using damm mp5 i told him use m16 he say he not good with it -_-
I think "more accuracy" would be a given as far as an assault rife is concerned... besides burst fire M16's (M16A2, and later M16A4) didn't find their way into use until the 1980's, after Vietnam. The M16A1 used in Vietnam was semi or fully automatic only
No. A battle rifle fires a full-size rifle cartridge with selective fire such as the 7.62x51mm. The AK 47 fires an intermediate cartridge, the 7.62x39mm which is a shortened version of the more powerful 7.62x54mm rimmed cartridge used in the Mosim Nagant and Dragunov
@Brawlmaster1997 The Colt Commando was officially named the CAR-15, The Commando was an M16 with a much shorter (11.5 inch barrel) compared to the M4 with a 14.5 inch and an M16 with an even larger barrel (20 inch). It is exactly the same apart from the barrel.
The M16 was likely made a burst fire weapon in MP in order to preserve weapon variety: - 2 jack of all trades weapons, the Commando and AK47. - 2 bullet hoses, the FAMAS and AUG. - 2 semi auto rifles, the M14 and FN FAL. - 2 burst fire rifles, the M16 and G11. - 2 "specialty" weapons, the Enfield (superior ADS) and Galil (superior capacity).
Speaking from experience, Hardened Pro + M16 is a powerful combination indeed. I understand the logic of Steady Aim and certainly helps the weakness of the M16's burst fire but Hardened Pro greatly supports the M16's solid strengths in power and precision. Play to the weapon's strengths.
M16A1 depicted in this game also didn't have a removable carry handle. It was fixed the receiver as was the follow up A2 rifle. The removable carry handle was first seen on the A3 variant.
@GunMaker91 The A1 is full auto. The A2 was the first M16 to fire the 3-round burst. But yes, the A3 varient is full-auto. Also, there was no such thing as the M16 nam. It was the M16/M16A1. Those were used in Vietnam.
@GlennFalconiVEVO No, the m16 is a fully automatic version of the m16, with a single- fire option. The M16 didn't even have the capacity to fire burst in Vietnam.
I like how in xbox ahoy videos i kind of vary it up rather than go strickly of what he belives is effective for example for the perks i tend to (for the orange one) go with steady aim. I feel being on the move is important and to bring your rifle up quicker during tough situations is important and for more accuracy at close rang.
Just something you may want to know, I'm not sure if it's for all guns, but on the m16, the reflex sight actually reduces bullet spread and makes it tighter. Thumbs up so everyone sees
Yep, I just think when players first picked the game up, the lure of full-auto fire was too great, and they abandoned the M16 for the Enfield, Galil, Famas, and so forth It's the ones that persevered with the M16 and know how to use it (as you said) that are the bane of automatic rifle users (and I think the auto rifle users rag on it because they HATE it when someone with the M16 is mowing them down from medium-long range and there's nothing they can do to stop them short of a sniper rifle)
I never liked the M16 not in game but in real life after doing some research, the M16 has feed jams and accuracy problems which got a lot of soldiers killed. I’d either pick the M14 or an AK-47 as my weapons of choice during the war. But that’s just me.
@Bensaves I think the intent was that the Black Ops were privy to early prototypes of weapons, gadgets, launchers, etc. Plus the time frame of the game stretches from the '50s to the '70s too.
my point is that with the holo, the M16 has so little recoil that it can easily put three rounds on target at all but the most extreme (like, across wasteland extreme) distances, while even the FAMAS may struggle with that. Scavenger has numerous bonuses over sleight of hand, such as infinite claymores and stuns. Users of the FAMAS wanting will either have to miss out on this advantage or cope with the FAMAS' lethargic reload.
no, recoil and center speed are two different entities; each gun has recoil, which is the amount that the gun kicks in any given direction from a single shot. Center speed, however, is how quickly the gun resettles into the center of the screen (i.e. center speed).
I use the M16 with extended mags, ninja, ghost and soh. I'm thinking of using dual mags and that penetrating perk instead now. I kinda like the iron site :) Great video
4:55 - 45 rounds is better than 30 however, and you may find yourself needed the extra firepower. Then he proceeds to run his extended magazine dry killing people. I LOVE how he says something than SHOWS YOU in his clips what he means.
Dual Mags for extra ammo and a quick reload, and ACOG for longer distance accuracy ACOG also REDUCES recoil on this gun, rather than increasing it on others...whether that's a bug or intentional, I dunno, but I take advantage of it! Pair it with an RPG and Flak Jacket for close/medium distance combat plus sticky grenades for clearing rooms and motion sensors for keeping people from sneaking up on you Kilstreaks: RC-XD, Gun Turret, and Napalm Works for me *shrugs* ^^;
@TheKripox You realize you're thinking of short-range performance? The M16 with ACOG or IR Scope is the best defensive weapon, with the Red Dot, Reflex or underbarrel attachments doing superb in middlerange roles.
Although this guide is very useful and I have a similar class with the M16, I found Tactical Mask (especially Pro) a lot more helpful than Hacker Pro, because when Tac Mask and Hardened (both Pro) are combined it will help you get more shots on target. Tac Mask also plays really well with Flak Jacket, giving imunity to gas and more resistance towards explosives. Hope I helped :)
@XboxAhoy I know this vid is quite old by now. But you didn't mentions the ACOG's benifit on the M16. The M16 ACOG scope actually increases the gun's Center Speed.
Try this class: M16 w/ ACOG for long distance firefights and double pythons for secondary ( you should find that steady aim is not necessary for close range encounters! ).
It requires a two burst kill for almost all ranges (since only rarely is it possible to guarantee a burst where all three bullets hit). Killing in two bursts means that the M16 is THE slowest killing weapon in the game bar pistols at long range. There's a reason why no one uses this gun in Black Ops.
I understand you now, although ADS means aim down sight. It has nothing to do with recoil. For the M16, I'm fairly certain that due to the increased kick of the ACOG, the corresponding center speed should be slower as in previous call of duty titles, though I don't know how the M16's center speed corresponds with other guns' ACOG center speed.
M16 is the only assault rifle that benefits from all its attachments
Even the master key?
To a certain extent.

I think its the cartridge
@@wolfroze9703 More is merrier until the mag becomes unwieldy.
@@judsongaiden9878 I thought the primary reason was because the .308 winchester was not well suited to full auto in such a light weapon?
"A familiar tool from previous games" 😂😂 Noob Tube 4 lyfe!
I think that instead of taking hardened, you should take warlord for the second attachment. That way you can equip the masterkey & the ACOG scope so you can potentially be effective at all ranges.
I remember watching everyone of these videos when they were uploaded! Had some amazing times on COD. Where has the time gone xD
People say this gone sucks. This gun is op as s***.
Randy Oum Best gun in the game with galil and ak
+Robert B I can't use it well but I know I suck
***** I subed to you
***** thanks, and why dont u like the commando
***** also what's your xbox gamertag
Which is better M16 or AK47?
i think the m16.Just my opinion
Malte Molin
amen!
Depends on play style and opponets. If you like speed and aggressive tactics then the ak if fine with its full auto fire and decent damage. But if you play more defensively then the m16 will be better as it is better at holding sight lines.
idk why but I love ur voice no homo
lol how does loving someones voice equate to homosexuality? or sexual attraction regardless of gender anyways lol? yeah i agree with what your trying to stay
@@FalconsPOWN2 it's a meme
I don't know what it is about this but I just want to keep watching it.I think its the fact that it is like a montage of clips with the gun.I think this is very entertaining
I want this guy to brief me on everything, like food to eat , cloths to wear, girls i meet, EVERYTHING
Why does this weapon have a 3-round burst rate of fire in Multiplayer and in Zombies while being full-auto in the campaign? That never made sense to me.
Unfortunately it would've been the most powerful/op weapon on the game surpassing the Commando and Famas on Auto. I wish.
Real M16 was full auto or 3 round burst.
M16 full auto but soldiers spray end pray
M16A2 redesing for semi end 3round burst with no full auto
M16A3 full auto for Navy Seal
M16A4 3 round burst for Marine Corps
In short way.
This was the Last Superior Call of Duty but fails in PC.
***** To be fair, it runs horribly on my Titan.
+Elijah LaRuffa they might not have the right specs
What about BO2 and MW3
***** ok then activision just fucked up the pc port just liked they did with ghost (which was a pretty average shooter)
Elijah LaRuffa black ops 2 was trash
I wish the M16's Carry Handle went away with Sight Attachments in BOCW. Why the fuck did they decide that? It doesn't look good at all. It looks wrong, it makes me want to say my prayers to Eugene Stoner.
M16A1/A2 has integrated carry handle
The M16 is a fantastic weapon and is one of my personaly favorites out of the assault rifles : ) i plan on putting this class to some use soon
anyone in 2021
@TenAte108 .
it says .308 and its 5.56x45 shouldn't it be .223
5.56x45=.223. The 5.56x45 is the millitary designation of the .223 Remington if that answers your question.
true
lol this gun is really op and every starter on bo uses mp5 or shotgun jeez they never tryed m16
Ikr. If you can land those clean bursts you can take a target out at a crazy long distance with just 3 bullets
TFS_Humor ikr im good with dat gun and when i started with a friend from other psn users from level 1 i was using m16 and he was using damm mp5 i told him use m16 he say he not good with it -_-
F2H every good m16 player can take care of irons like me
F2H dude wtf have you ever tried m16? red dot ruins it and its ez on bo1 to see the iron sights
F2H m bro no in m16 if you hit directly hes ded with first shot in bo1
I think "more accuracy" would be a given as far as an assault rife is concerned... besides burst fire M16's (M16A2, and later M16A4) didn't find their way into use until the 1980's, after Vietnam. The M16A1 used in Vietnam was semi or fully automatic only
I'm surprised he didn't mention that in game the ACOG and IR increases the Centerspeed making it even more accurate.
M16 with acog works same way like holographic sight in mw2. It makes shots slight tighter and better. Great attachment
The M16 was likely made a burst fire weapon in MP in order to preserve weapon variety:
- 2 jack of all trades weapons, the Commando and AK47.
We need a youtuber like him these days
Yep, I just think when players first picked the game up, the lure of full-auto fire was too great, and they abandoned the M16 for the Enfield, Galil, Famas, and so forth
It's the ones that persevered with the M16 and know how to use it (as you said) that are the bane of automatic rifle users (and I think the auto rifle users rag on it because they HATE it when someone with the M16 is mowing them down from medium-long range and there's nothing they can do to stop them short of a sniper rifle)
"suffering only i light singing", AAAHHHHH SO GOOOD
My recommended attachments for the M16 is Dual Mags and ACOG with the sacrifice of using Warlord
Even though I'm not British, I must say... excellent video mate!
I use the M16 with extended mags, ninja, ghost and soh.
I'm thinking of using dual mags and that penetrating perk instead now. I kinda like the iron site :)
Great video
The M16 in Black Ope lacks a forward assist and has a 3 pronged flash hider.
It is actually a Colt Model 604 issued to USAF units in country.
jesus this guys has the better videos i have EVER SEEN.great vids good job ;D
4:55 - 45 rounds is better than 30 however, and you may find yourself needed the extra firepower.
Then he proceeds to run his extended magazine dry killing people. I LOVE how he says something than SHOWS YOU in his clips what he means.
Dual Mags for extra ammo and a quick reload, and ACOG for longer distance accuracy
ACOG also REDUCES recoil on this gun, rather than increasing it on others...whether that's a bug or intentional, I dunno, but I take advantage of it!
Pair it with an RPG and Flak Jacket for close/medium distance combat plus sticky grenades for clearing rooms and motion sensors for keeping people from sneaking up on you
Kilstreaks: RC-XD, Gun Turret, and Napalm
Works for me *shrugs* ^^;
Almost a year later, I still love watching this
How about 10 years later?
