In this episode we're covering the AUG.
It's a fully automatic weapon, unlocked at level 26.
The AUG - or Armee-Universal-Gewehr - translating as 'Universal Army Rifle' - is of Austrian origin, developed and manufactured by Steyr Mannlicher.
The design dates to 1977, and was intended as a replacement for the earlier FN FAL design, then in service with the Austrian military as the Sturmgewehr 58.
The AUG entered service in 1979 with the Austrian Bundesheer, and since then has been adopted by many others: The Australian Defense Force, Irish Army, Polish GROM special forces, to name but a few.
The weapon is of a bullpup configuration, with the magazine behind the trigger for a longer barrel with any given overall length.
The weapon is best known for its futuristic appearance, with all-polymer olive green furniture and rakishly angled handguard and integrated scope.
Functionally, the weapon is similar to any other NATO assault rifle - perhaps most closely resembling the FAMAS, a similarly bullpup weapon that was introduced at around the same time.
The AUG fires the NATO standard intermediate cartridge, the 5.56×45mm.
Magazines are of a translucent polymer construction, and are manufactured in both 30 and 42-round capacities.
The weapon is depicted in-game with 30-round magazines by default.
The AUG is a low damage assault rifle, on par with the FAMAS and Enfield, requiring up to 4 shots to kill.
Its low damage is made up for with a tremendous rate of fire - 937.5 rounds per minute, equal to that of the FAMAS.
The AUG's performance is very similar to its French peer, then - but there are some differences in handling.
Recoil performance is one key differentiating factor: while the FAMAS tends upwards and to the right, the AUG has much less predictable, omni-directional kick, with a slightly slower rate of recovery.
This means you can generally expect less consistent performance, and although automatic fire will tend to remain on target - the AUG is less effective than the FAMAS when fired in short bursts.
Aim time is standard for the assault rifles, at 250 milliseconds - which post-FAMAS-patch means the AUG gains an aim speed advantage.
Reloads are a little slower, however - at 2.6 seconds.
Aggressive use of the assault rifles relies on positioning, and intelligent use of cover and sightlines.
With a loadout designed for speed you can change positions often, keep the enemy guessing - and extend your reach to wherever the fight may be.
With an eye on the radar you should be able to anticipate enemy spawns and movements - get into position ahead of them and they'll stumble straight into your sights.
With lightweight and marathon, you'll be long gone before they can come back for revenge.
The AUG is a weapon on par with the almighty FAMAS; it shares many of its traits, and handles in a similar way.
It's little surprise that the AUG offers similarly top-tier performance, then - with consistent damage and a fearsome rate of fire, if you're on target there are not many other weapons that can compete in a firefight.
The AUG's moderately high recoil does lessen its effectiveness at a longer distance, however - to reach over the greatest sightlines you will need to burst fire, which can give the advantage to sniper rifles, or some of the other assault rifles.
Still, given that you can easily avoid unfavourable odds at such distances, the AUG will prove to be deadly at the close-to middle ranges where most gunfights occur.

ahh wish i played this game more. Didn't like it at first so i just played MW2 for a few more years.
Then i realised how good black ops was.

Jas R I still play it!!! I always thought of it as treyarchs reskin of mw2! And nope you're delusional.. Bo1 didn't have that many players early this year. I played it a few months prior and it only had a few thousand.. I even searched lesser played game types and struggled to get a match.

Still the best call of duty over a decade after its release, my sophomore year summer was consumed by COD Black ops Multi and Zombies.
Love that this game doesn't overpower the player and makes you really think about what's best for your specific play style.

I love the Acog sight
+SniperSurvivor It's a good sight, but the AUG is very inaccurate with it equipped. It has the AK-74u's recoil profile while firing at 937.5 RPM, with a 1300 centerspeed (terrible). It'd be useful if it didn't provide such a bad accuracy and aim speed disadvantage.
That's what I was annoyed by the MW2 AUG's ACOG scope, being just a normal ACOG

Vae Harmelink It's a shame because this was by far my favourite CoD and despite being backwards compatible it doesn't change the fact that it's horribly modded to the stage I sold it, maybe if they did repolish the servers and the graphics (as a bonus) the concept of a remaster actually isn't such a bad idea.🤔🙂

Ah the nostalgia. Black ops is where I learned the existence of the AUG. It just appealed to me. Especially when I saw in in the mission where you play Hudson. When I unlocked it, I copied the loadout and camo from that mission. I used the crap out of it. That and the commando.

The AUG is without a doubt a beast weapon. My loadout: AUG w/silencer; Crossbow; Scavenger, SoH, Marathon. I have yet to to get less than a 3kd in ANY match.
I found AUG with fast mags and having the steady aim perk very likable

The AUG was my primary AR. I used it with an ACOG and Extended Mag, Scavenger, warlord and hardline.

i prefer to think of the AUG as Amazingly Useful Gun because of how often i get it in nazi zombies and how powerful it is there.

I'm waiting for his guides on the Python, the G11,my beloved AK-47 (it handles differently than in Modern Warfare 2), and most certainly the CZ75. Great pistol to have with you at all times, when not using the Sterela-3 launcher.

It's a very well balanced gun in game, and has wonderful aesthetics when coupled with an under-barrel. That triangular heat shield is drool worthy.

AUG has always been my favorite bullpup rifle, liked it over the FAMAS, mostly because the AUG is one of the best guns in zombies, and very good in MP.

My second favourite rifle in Black Ops, just behind the Kalashnikov, and ahead of the FAL.

your videos are on another level
they are interesting and you show exactly what a weapon can do
You actually need it, after 8 kills the ammo get kind of scarce, dual mags and sleight hand are more like a help to always be able to shoot large groups (shortest reload time possible). Try this setup, if you play on high sensitivity like I said, this will make easy to get at least 25/75 kills possible on a typical TDM. Aug is just that awesome.

Loved the video! The AUG is my favorite Black Ops weapon and now I have a great loadout to reference too. That was a clever pun by the way. I never would have thought of that.
The Famas nerf's best attribute was bringing the AUG out of its shadow. Now with the AUG having very real handling advantages over the Famas, the AUG is the game's definitive close-quarters menace among the assault rifles. However, the AUG hasn't eclipsed the Famas by any means. Even with the Famas' accuracy being reduced, it is still quite a bit better than the AUG's, which has very shaky recoil when coupled with that high fire rate. I still favor the Famas despite the much worse handling attributes it has. The AUG's accuracy is simply that much of a turn off for me. However I can totally understand if people disagree with my Famas over AUG sentiment.
I'm gonna be honest, I expected the stinger to be something like "...will make your enemies go 'AUGH!'" I was pleasantly surprised.
I've only played MW1 and MW3, but these videos make me kind of want to try Black Ops. But, I guess waiting for Black Ops 2 is just as good.

I will say that the AUG is my favourite Assault Rifle in Black Ops, while the Famas bests it in a few ways, I simply refuse to use it due to its overall unfairness in most situations.

That awesome moment when you've used XboxAhoy's setup since Day 1.
The first 2 and CoD4 (not vanilla though, tbh) were actually really good, well balanced games for competitive play offering a larger variety than arena shooters like HLDM and Quake, while being faster paced than CS.
The Commando is an ideal mid-range weapon, my preferred distance. The LAW is able to fire at both air support and ground forces, increasing its versatility. My perk choices mean I'll reach objectives quickly and never run dry.
Not sure what other people think, but the recoil on the AUG is a little more rough than that of the Famas. And as stated, unlocked earlier. The AUG, to me, is just as powerful, so I do agree with you.

If you don't get, then I'll explain. The DNA is made up of sequential nucleotides (the basic building block of DNA). Each are represented as T, A, G, or C. When translating (converting DNA to RNA and decoding the codons, or 3 letters of the DNA sequence), the codon AUG is the start point (as in where the polymerase starts to translate, or convert).

My favourite class setup for the AUG.
AUG w/ dual mags.
Secondary of choice.
Tomahawk, concussion and C4's.
Hardline or Flak Jacket.
Sleight of Hand.
Hacker or Tactical Mask.
(Use Hacker w/ Hardline, and Flak Jacket w/ Tactical Mask).
Try out the AUG w/ Dual Mag, Python Speed Reloader, Tomahawk, Consussion, C4, Lightweight, Sleight of Hand, Marathon. Pretty much the same; I just found this class I made more useful.
