I'm happy you like it, but I don't think fans have to like everything a studio does. It's also important to understand that Mappa's animators clearly got the short end of the stick when they were given that unrealistic deadline.

I Was in the aot discord when the first episode dropped and when people said wtf is this animation then the gojo avatars came out defending it and it started the wit vs mappa . It shouldnt be about which studio did what if wit changed their style season 4 i wouldve hated it too
Honestly i like the way mappa gives depth to the character’s eyes, it just kinda adds to the depressing elements, but i liked wit’s lighting better
That comes from the actual manga art style. WIT kinda had subtle design changes to characters. MAPPA stuck true to the source.

I think mappa was perfect for season 4 -- set an entirely new tone. I think both studios were perfect for their given time frames in the show
I like both, but MAPPA has been putting too many eye shots here and there and it's getting kind of annoying. I understand that these eye shots are necessary to cut the animation time and budget, instill atmosphere, emphasis, etc. But if only they could take it down a notch. There's nothing wrong in doing scenes with still images, it just kind of upsetting that there could be a much better way not to waste a shot...

yeah tbh Mappa doesn't give the same vibe or evoke the emotion that Wit was able to. Wit really put their heart and soul into it.
That scene seems one dimensioned regarding emotions. It feels like sadness and disgust, while wit has way more because of the lighting. It gives more of a story than Mappa's.
@@any.user.allowed.I guess some people like it better when they cover a large array of emotions but to me if it's all focused on one emotion i can feel more sympathy for the characters, it impacts me harder than Mappa's version.

I really enjoy the way WIT uses lighting, highlights and contrast in their animation, it makes every shot pop more and makes characters/objects stand out and feel more present in scenes. I think MAPPA does a great job with finer details, though sometimes they can go a bit overboard with this and it can lead to some inconsistency in the quality of the animation. Ideally MAPPA could've used highlights and contrast more similarly to WIT, while maintaining their own more detailed/realistic style (Though perhaps simplifying it a bit at points to smooth out the animation quality).

Let's remember, wit began adapting during the phase where isayama didn't have a solid art style down yet. So wot had to somewhat create their own. Once season 3 and 4 came, they reflected more of the manga. And now season 4 is a direct adaptation of what the manga looks like

@@yaskala1014 I said "Except" I knew it's all bout the face and additional Wit is a perfectionist and blends light color together that's why they specialized in background and enviromment while mappa in the other hands uses darker tone of color causing the facial expression to be more detailed.
To be specific both have good quality animations and art style but WIT Studio nailed the anime better.

The character designs on WIT have this shiny glossy finish to them that’s not present in the Mappa designs. I think both studios do a good job when it comes to lighting as well but WIT uses warmer colors with its lighting where as mappa uses cooler colors. Obviously this isn’t present here but I feel like the frame rate with WIT’s Animation is higher than MAPPA’s but they also be due to the lack of time MAPPA had
From what I have seen MAPPA uses more frame rate in conversation scenes where WIT has bettet animation in fight scenes
@@irsa4313 I'd say thats mainly due to how little fights there are in s4. There was one fight which was animated smoothly af but beyond that there really isnt many ways to compare fights from mappa and wit.

MAPPA for the character design because they really copy the manga. However, I would go for WIT when it comes to lightings and effects.
Wit design for the characters are different from the manga because isayama wasn't a good artist back then.
@@Renzeee30 Isayamas art looked good however it wasn't really fitting for a manga. It was a bit hard to follow especially action scenes which were not visually appealing. Isayama is a great artist now. He really improved.

i'd pay unholy amounts of money to see the complete series done by wit.
WIT makes scene more scary/polished skins however MAPPA on the other side makes People/Titans more humanely but the Titans in WIT looks like they have blood. I prefer WIT (based in my opinion) because WIT made it look more scary/bloody and perfect for Aot story .
They both are good, while Wit has the brighter and vibrant colors MAPPA haz better designs and more details

I like it both, especially when they draw the eyes, so alluring and hypnotizing. MAPPA is somehow brighter in coloring (refer to Jujutsu Kaisen, Kakegurui, and Hajime no Ippo, not to mention that the current founder is also the founder and producer of Madhouse) as compared to WIT who maintained that mysterious air when it comes to their art (refer to Empire of Corpses, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortess, and Vinland Saga).
WIT also did The Great Pretender!

I remember thinking that WIT sometimes makes the scenes painfully bright and contrasting, but looking at MAPPA now i miss that, MAPPA'S lighting is too blurry they can easily fix that in blu-ray though. Given the time constraints, I understand and stuff like lighting would suffer because it's in the last stage of production.

@@trytrial9811 i guess you don't like AoT. But WIT did want to animate season 4 however they asked for 2 years of time and the committee disagreed. They struggled in animating Season 1, but season 4 has a little too much going for it compared to season 1. Plus, the main problem came because of the lockdown and work constraints even in the 8 months.

Wit doesn't have much detail but the colour is good, while mappa has good detail but the colours are plain, even my dad says that when I'm watching aot
I prefer Wit adaptation, I can't lie.
Not only the use of color and lighting, the detail movement in Wit works look so dramatical and amazing.
Wit only enhanced the brightness of the animation but the mappa made it too much badass details and awesome cinematic shots and moves 💥
Just imagine if studio didn’t changed. There wouldn’t any comparisons and arguments. All just enjoyed the last greatest season of AoT. Damn Covid!

Covid lockdown started about March 2020. 1 episode of season 4 started 7th of December 2020. Mappa had ~8 month so they started to work on aot about April 2020. It is about month after lockdown started in March 2020. So the rights were passed to Mappa during lockdown .

@@rdproduction7824 It is not the fact that they passed the rights at that time, that is an executive thing not related with the staff. WIT studio decided to not continue AOT because it was consuming a lot from them and they wanted to start doing brand new original projects for their animation house. The decision was made in 2019.

Mappa had a little time due to WiT lately informed to drop AoT, which proves that before lockdown WiT wanted to finish AoT even if it wouldn’t give them a lot of profit.

Mappa does have more realism and an adult depressing vibe that fits the later mood of the story arcs. But I feel WIT had more fluidity and the animation /movements were less stiff.

Mappa did a good adaptation from the manga, it looks very similar in comparison to wit
It's also mostly because, when WIT started, the manga drawings weren't too good in early volumes so they had to re-design a lot of things.

WIT was creating Attack on Titan when Hajime Isayama didn't have a solid art style, but oh my god they did amazing. MAPPA is doing great too, but WIT made Attack on Titan feel like Attack on Titan. It gave it its signature orange glow, the strange aura the titans gave off, and some of the creepiest and most amazing iconic scenes in anime history. It made you feel like you could reach out to the characters and feel their grief. WIT did Attack on Titan, and they made it iconic
Both studios worked hard to make this epic anime. Looking forward to watch more high quality anime like this.

I think mappa is better in enviroment lighting but wit is better in colour contrast
The thing that i believe mappa has an edge over is the cgi for example the cgi of the colossal titan and the horses looked extremely out of place and looked Like it was straight out of a ps2 game for the colossal titan. Were as the cgi of the titans in s4 looked a little bit more blended and if u were not looking close u could miss it. However they are both incredible in there own ways :)

@@dakodablack7312 the thing is mappa doesnt do the cgi for s4. So if it is the same case for wit studio chances are the cgi company that did cgi for aot season 2 and 3 might have not been as experienced as mappa's studios cgi company.

@@kbin7042 well it's given that people may have their own preferences, but I still think it's a factor that everyone is used to WIT's artwork. That may be the case to old anime watchers who watched the series since first release. The characters we grew to love were drawn on WIT's style after all. Though I like MAPPA's more in terms of drawing, because the character look more realistic and dimensional (I think the "flat" part you said was intended by them because everyone should have a depressed vibe this season) I like WIT's animation and lighting way better. Just glad that the timing is perfect, time skip, where definitely the characters should look different.
@@kbin7042 as an example, if you have watched the new episode where eren raised his wounded hand, MAPPA's amazing how they made him look twice as much broken than he was in the manga. In terms of dramatic themes, MAPPA has it for me. In terms of action drawings, WIT. Both were perfectly timed to how each season they animated vibe should've been.
you should never hurry such a big project. i wish they would give season 4 to wit and they event take 5 years to finish if it was necessary but it was the same quality as the previous seasons. season 4 runed attack on titan for me.
I've noticed MAPPA rarely uses highlights on their characters, makes them feel a lot more flat against the backrounds.
That and they have a lot less contrast in their shots. Makes their shots look less dramatic
Mappa improved a lot during this final half of the series finale but both studios did a great job. Something I really appreciated about Wit was their song choices for certain scenes and the beauty that came with those scenes. They were geniuses when it came to that.

I love both. I love Wit because they were there since the beginning and I was drawn to their animation style 8 years ago. I love Mappa because it reminds me of old school animation. The way the characters are drawn and the emotion that’s portrayed on the characters’ faces is amazing. I don’t like how people try to say one is better than the other. Hats off to both animation studios.

no the production company only gave them the time to animate the whole season in 9-10 months and that was very hard for wit because they also needed to work on other original projects, Moreover, the main character of the show had seen ocean and the things were going to be crazy and wit knew the couldn't animate that in such less time, so they decided to change the studio, and they asked every studio , even studio deen which messed up ESCANOR vs MELIODAS and they rejected it , Only Mappa choosed it , if mappa hadn't , there were chances that AOT S4 wouldn't even have been AIR .

From watching S1,...,S4, wit lighting more detailed and focused in important thing, the movement not to fast so you can feel the triggered and fear, in mappa, the movement so fast and because more real, example for dust, the dust make face or detailed blur
I can say that wit is more dramatic while mappa is more real, but, in a narrative story, a work that can be felt more by the audience will be better right?

I think wit really gave off action horror movie vibes while mappa looks like action movie
Mappa made scenes that were supposed to be sad and dark seem as tho the character was was scared in the Mikasa scene and the scene with kayas mother they were supposed to look as tho they were dead inside and like they didn’t know what to do and had given up also for the scene with Eren stabbing that guy the scene was supposed to have been a a bit blurry to add to the scary theme also mappa doesn’t tend to add lighting they only tend to add shading which in my opinion makes them look a bit dry wit added lots of lighting and makes everything seem as tho there is light shining on the character or whatever it is which makes it look nice and for with the show and that’s why if you look at the characters with wit they look as tho they still have hope and they look prettier and hopeful and determined as opposed to mappa which made them look fiercer and more powerful and upset anyways I think both studios did an amazing job
If only Mappa got the time they needed. With the short time they have its impressive cuz other anime takes years before they get new season

I can’t help but say that as much as many people said MAPPA’s color design is more realistic, WIT’s style had embedded with AOT a lot, I mean even the difference of lighting colors in day and night version is already far
The one thing that I love about wit's animation is when there is a intense scene and they instead of animating the whole scene they simply put a single frame for 5-10 is just amazing
I swear i love Mappa’s lighthings and detailed design and emotions and the cgi movement in some scenes

witは絵の強弱がしっかりついてて、たまに作画大変な事になってる時あるけど全く気にならないどころか良い味になってる。躍動感が凄い。
mappaは狂いがなくて、どこをとっても同じ力量で丁寧に描いているから少し平坦な雰囲気を感じてしまうことがある。でも、1話1話の物語の納め方だったり、カットの工夫だったり、この情報量の多いファイナルシーズンをよくここまで分かりやすく伝えてくれてて凄い。

Ambas casas de animación son buenas, pero definitivamente me quedo con Wit, amo las paletas de colores que utiliza.
Tbh I think that Mappa's character design is kinda more realistic than Wits. I mean, in season 4, the characters looks more like a real human than in previous seasons. Maybe it was due to lighting and shading, but they were looking almost real humans. Whereas in all previous seasons, the characters were just simply looking like drawings.
But I love both of their works. Mappa or Wits, they did an excellent job in making AOT.
I could care less for this anime’s quality in graphics or details etc. The story has me HOOKED
I like MAPPA's aesthetics better, but if I miss the movements with the maneuvering team, I'm sure that if I had given them more time, this would have been a season equal to or greater than the previous ones, Some scenes show things really well.
I disagree, obviously I respect your opinion but i believe season 4 is the best aot season, the animation is a slight downgrade but everything else is a straight up banger, yes i do miss the beautiful odm gear scenes but they weren’t used much this season anyways, I just love both studios but overall i’ve enjoyed season 4 the mostly due to it’s stellar writing
As a aot fan, i must say that both studios did a fantastic job, its not easy just to animate, to draw. All of their hard work is just unbelievable, it doesnt matter which is better but the point is, Wit did a fantastic to job built the foundation and mappa did an amazing job to end it. Maybe A New OVA Or Series, IF story would be great for the future of AOT too
Aside from the plot, we watched aot up until the last season because of how the animation made us feel. The way they animated AOT, both Wit and Mappa, brings a lot of emotion to us viewers so it doesn't matter who did it better. Both studios did great. 🧎♀️🙌

I don't know why but I actually like WIT more....just because it reminds me the old days of Attack on titan and I was actually used to it...

なんか海外勢からMAPPAはすごい批判食らってるけど、諫山さんの原作自体結構個性的な絵を描くから、悪く言えば下手くそって言われるんだろうな。それをMAPPAは忠実に再現しただけよね。呪術廻戦なんかも原作寄りだし。

あとは主に演出面だけどPVのを期待してた人が結構いるのと、CGやBGMに対しても日本以上にシビア
You also have to keep in mind with wit this was their first anime and the attack on titan manga art at the beginning wasn't the best to work with so they did an amazing job but mappa with the time they had did amazing aswell , both the studios deserve all the praise
I like WIT's overall art style. Most studios only highlight the hair. But WIT actually highlighter the clothes and skin too which I really like. But my favourite is Mappa's facial designs and drawing style. So drawing goes to Mappa and colouring goes to WIT. The animating also goes to Mappa
