I actually prefer the og grisha walking down the street. When he’s by himself it feels like it properly portrays grisha’s inner torment on having to leave his family to take the founder. When zeke and erens are there it doesn’t give off the same vibe.

This video just shows that MAPPA’s animation staff having some time constraints esp with the TV version. The Blu-Ray kinda shows how given the time, can produce better looking scenes and better directions
Just look at jjk and now csm. I think any top studio with time can put out great quality. That's the main reason ufotable is consistent in animation cuz they don't take on that many series in one go.

Ymir scene looks so much better, there is a thing about the pose (probably face and arms) that made her looks a way more terrifying and cruel, like a wild animal.
Eren's faces needed more enhancements, some times it's sharp and sometimes it just changes and get more "squary", these episodes had a problem with consistence of character design.
The founding titan scene looks better but this (for me) effect don't, would be better just the normal frame with the changes like the hair motion

I'm personally not as big a fan of some of Grisha's facial redraws, more specifically in the eyes. In the original release, his pupils and irises are more contracted/minimized, which is a classic anime technique to show fear, rage, horror or disgust, which I feel does a better job of communicating his mindset than the redraws do.

He sitll has small pupils. But he no longer looks dumb (which is what tends to happen when they draw them just too small, something quite common in anime, indeed).
What the hell? This makes this season so much more enjoyable than before! Also a reason to rewatch this one more time...

@@Dan_Kanerva Season four part two was not a mid quality product in my opinion. I'll admit the latter half had a lack of urgency, and the characters were off model a fair few times but this season was just so cinematic. There were no crazy studio WIT level ODM gear scenes sure, but I can think of so many moments that were executed fantastically with the animation. That whole sequence of Eren running towards Zeke was phenomenal. I watched this video and seeing the Blu ray changes I feel really doesn't enhance the experience that much? If I rewatched the Blu ray without seeing the changes made I would not notice a difference.
@@brandonmallick9614 yeah , the problem most people have is that Mappa is playing favorites by obviously giving more priority to Jujutsu kaisen and now the upcoming Chainsaw man... instead of giving some proper love to AoT

1:15 This single change in eren's expression made me tear up. I dislike him right now since, obviously, he's abandoned his humanity in order to be able to commit the atrocities he's committing. But this just proved to me that the moment we (hopefully) get to see eren gain back some of his humanity & his frame of mind is explained, he'll most likely become one of my favorite characters.
Post-ending update: I couldn't stop crying. AOT is masterfully written. Eren is masterfully written. Everything to do with his character that I wanted to happen, happened. I had a feeling he had his friends' best interests in mind and that he wasn't just turning into a heartless, "badass" monster; I was so glad to be proven right. Hands down, one of my favorite main characters in all of fiction.
So... what do you think about the ending?

Holy moly, these are huge changes! Didn't know they actually animated new frames for Blu-ray version. Very neat indeed!
I think it was a good touch for Mappa to make it gorier, it really showed like this change in tone. Where the first 3 seasons are about politics and just hating titans, and season 4 turns into "Oh its genocide now"
Nah, the first 2 seasons weren't about politics. Only the 3rd season part 1 was about the politics. And only the first 2 seasons were about Humans vs Titans. By the time 3rd season came, it was clear that we have humans as our real enemies

They’re not all key frames, they’ve added quite a lot more in betweens which is what you mean. Adding more in betweens makes everything look smoother. I know this as I was an animation student

The thing that really annoyed me as wit studio got farther into the anime is all the censorship, in season 1 there was very little. But I’m happy that Mappa has sorta brought things back to being gory and less censored again.

1:49 this is Eren's actual face and not the face of his titan. His new form made his face look like a raisin and you can see this in the manga. Keep in mind that his titan can not speak.
tv version is under time pressure so every tv release is like unpolished 80% completions, blue ray on the other hand no time limit, or maybe have longer deadline than the weekly tv release, so of course they will fix, improve and even redraw things up

Are these all the changes? I hope there were more cause the first version honestly felt somewhat lacking on the "fear the giants" department. I'm glad Ymir got a boost in design along some more titans that looks more goofy than scary.

I wish they'd just take the time to make it look better in the release, rather than retroactively fix it in a bluray that 90% of people who have watched AoT aren't going to see.
I will called it changes if they draw the character's face similar to the manga, and also the color overall, aot used to be colorfull and mappa make it always darker, it's like adding a black layer in their every anime.
I agree to most the changes. Greesha is one of the weirdest ones because indeed he is drawn a bit less loosely but the expressions are a bit less expressive imo.

I wish they were more clear about ymirs founding titans height. She looks tall there but i thought she was about female titan or amor titan tall.

Do all the blu-rays for attack on titan have improvements? If so i would like to purchase all of them, even if the improvements are small.
Ok but the thing I always wanted to know is "what is blu-ray?", "why blu-ray?" and "why there are differences between the original and the blu-ray?"
A blu-ray is a physical disc for movies and shows, with superior audio and video quality to streaming or cable. It has the capacity to show more pixels, a wider range of colours and contrast (which also means a smoother transition between colour gradients), as well as a higher bitrate. More bitrate means a more stable picture with less noise and less compression.
As for there are differences between the TV version and the blu-ray, is because Mappa, the studio that took over production of Attack on Titan for "The Final Season" From Season 4, the time skip, forward) was working under severe time constraints to air the show (the wider anime industry suffers from this by the way. Budget constraints might also be a factor). As such, they had less time than preferable to animate it properly. After the tv show airs, knowing that a blu-ray release is coming, the studio gets to go back and take some extra time to touch up certain moments they felt lacking.

The TV version was much more pose-to-pose with it's camera work. Peak looks up> follow the cable> see Armin and Mikasa > pan around to behind them > see Peak on the wall > the wall breaks.
The bluray version puts a lot of it's frames into the camera swinging around behind Armin, which looks objectively better. But and as a result there's no more time for them to clearly show Peak on the wall before it comes down. So instead, the wall is already coming down by the time the camera comes around Armin.
Could've been solved if they just kept the faster timing of the original shot, but alas.

In all honesty. I am very worried for MAPPA works. They are constantly grabbing more and more huge projects that they clearly cannot keep up with the workload of and some have had some quality issues.

These are all huge works and many of them have had issues. Attack on Titan has had quality issues in many scenes, JJK couldnt even finish one of the fights in full quality in time, Chainsaw man also had some scenes that seemed a bit off in quality for the fights but not quite as bad. I am very worried because they are not slowing down, they are picking up more and more. JJK seemed to be a bit of a tipping point.
I would rather see other solid studios pick up some other future projects instead. Because there are loads of talented studios that could work on them without the hiccups.
MAPPA makes great stuff, but I really think they are taking on too much and their work is suffering for it.
So blue ray is like if you were given extra time on a project?
They have some time until the blueray releases and in the meantime they can optimize some Scenes

I have been watching on Hulu and these changes were present in the “Dub” versions of the episodes I watched. hope that partially answers! I did not watch the Sub episodes, so I don’t know about them for sure, but I imagine they also got the updated scenes.
@@adhirg This gives me some hope, although I'm hoping the changes aren't just on Hulu, from my experience, the quality is pretty terrible on Hulu. Watching Bleach on Hulu sucked, you could literally find random TH-cam clips that have much better video and audio quality.

Most of the time yes. But if you’re watching the dub the first 3 seasons are the Blu-Ray version. Not for season 4 though.
