What's really crazy to me is that this stage was teased all the way back in Sonic Adventure 1. Now we get to see what Eggman considers his "perfect" city.
yeah eggman was planning to do his eggmanland above a station square and mystic ruins, but it didn't happened, since sonic is too great to fight eggman, so eggman did it in unleashed
FINALLY! I felt like the only person who remembered this and so thought it was so cool to finally see Eggmanland as a level! This is probably my favorite looking final level in a Sonic level.
What I like about this stage is its nod to Final Egg. Although Final Egg had three sections, there’s six in Eggmanland. Seven if you’re including the boss.
Contextually it makes sense. Eggman has been trying to build this damn eggmanland forever, so to his credit he did it and it’s as tough as it should be. But holy fuck is it hard.
You guys know you can practice this until you get it right enough you know the stages from to back and sometimes think quicker with sequences it's crazy
Bro, have you played the ps2 version of this game? It was better, that by the time I did eggmanland, I kid you not, it felt like a masochists wet dream learning how to perfect that level on the ps2 version.
Never have I ever thought, that there were shortcuts to get through certain areas faster. Plus, that not all enemies had to be beaten down (except for the ones that were near the goal ring in the underground temple.)
4:15 This is the one part of this level I hate! All of a sudden I learn here that there's a route that DOESN'T put me on a tightrope with moving spikes?! I mean, it looks like the camera angle still wants to kill Sonic, but still!
I know exactly how you feel, when I learned you didn’t have to go up those stairs in Shamar night and battle those enemies that respawn all the time (I still have ptsd😭)

There is also a skip at roughly 6:55, if you stay as sonic and go to the right, boost inside the small gap and jump up to the top and it sends you to the room where you have to break down pink walls to pull down a lever
This game is not that hard. I recently started playing Project 06 (Sonic 06 on PC) and that's actually harder going backwards. Especially after years of not playing the original. I've S ranked every stage of Unleashed as a teen, PS2 and PS3 version. It's really not that hard, u just have to learn the stage layout just as every Sonic game. U can die in some stages once or twice and still get an S rank.
@TerrionCarter P06 is not hard at all. I Could get an S rank on every stage after 2-3 tries, except white acropolis, I did it first try on every story without even trying But it's still a game I like. The stages are some of the best of the serie, a shame regular 06 wasn't like that

10:13 - That probably happened to to the glitchy collison on the Werehog when he sheilds. Speedrunners use it to get out-of-bounds and to perform skips the bypass sections of a stage.
Odd that it didn't take away from the shield counter when the Gaia titan guy's stomp made contact, maybe it didn't count as a hit due to the glitch but the game still played the shielding sound effect.
I still think this is the best sonic level ever, not just aesthetically. It test almost everything you learned through the game while also being very challenging, and it also ends with a BANGER boss fight.
