I daily drove my 2017 Abarth 124 over 75,000 miles and didn't have a single problem. I changed the oil every 5,000 miles and maybe burned 1/2 a quart of oil which is consistent with most owners. The car does respond well to mods, I had a cat back System One exhaust with crossover pipe from Goodwin Racing, intake from EuroCompulsion, Phase one tune from EuroCompulsion, GFB Diverter valve and MeisterR coilovers. The mods really made the car shine, turbo lag was much less and better top end power. Usable power improved up to 6000 rpm, when stock there was no reason to rev past 5500 rpm. The intake makes oil changes easier, just need to pull the intake off the turbo end, unplug the connector from the DV valve and put a socket on the oil filter housing and in 10 minutes you can have the filter replaced. I used an oil extractor to suck the oil out of the oil pan through the dipstick tube which took about 10 minutes also. I didn't have to get under the car, in fact I never once had to take out the drain plug. It is a great car after fixing some of the weaknesses from the factory.

In the EU we have a Fiat 124 Spider and a Abarth 124 Spider.
The Abarth is perfect car in giving driving fun.
I own a 2,0 Liter MX5 ND the Abarth is more expensive in a wish I could own one.
Until that time the MX5 the one for me

I have a 124, it's cool in that not many people have them. I wish it had gotten a refresh like the ND2, and it definitely should've gotten carplay update. I like the power of something like the GR86, but my 124 sounds better though (system one exhaust)!
I just did an oil change and pulled out like 3.4L / 3.6 quarts out of 4 on a 7500 mile or so interval. 0 issues but I have a 2020 so production line improvements benefits.
Oil change tip: get an oil extractor, pop the clip off next to the coolant fill for extra room - if you have an aftermarket intake you might need to take it off, I managed to get the filter out without doing so on mine. Wear gloves and pull the oil when its warmed up.

What an upside down mess those Fiat engineers made out that elemental oil filter. Fa schifo ! Oil extractor ? Why did you wait 7500 miles for an oil change ? You should be doing them every 3500 miles.

I have an nd2 myself but having a 124 abarth would be cool as it's rarer. The 124 also reminds me a bit of a mini third gen viper

I'm very happy with the revised 2.0. I've heard from owners parts availability and long term engine reliability are already a concern for the 124.

@@ADUSN yea don't get me wrong I love my ND2, I like to look of it more than the 124, more sleek. And mines standard, so n/a engine 🔥. Reminds me a bit of the old hondas

I just drove the ND3 and I noticed that it takes almost a full second before the motor revs when trying to blip the throttle for downshifts, is this the same with the ND2?

The point of the video was not to talk about the turbo setup specifically but to compare both cars from a potential buyer's perspective. I do agree that it would make an interesting video.

if you go thru a quart every 3000 miles that sounds like a feature, self-changing oil. Thank you Italy

Audi in 2012 had a 2.0T which Audi declared ok if it burns 1qt every 1000 miles.

You got a lemon of a car engine if it's burning oil like that. My abarth 500 burns no oil with 115 thousand miles on it.

    • @ag4allgood
      @ag4allgood 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Waiting 7500 miles to do an oil change will wear out the engine much faster.

Toyotas are the most boring Japanese cars, justy appliance on wheels. Hondas are not what they were since the passing of Mr. Honda, lost the fun and reliability too. Mazda are the funnest Japanese cars right now and have been so for easily a decade. Mazda has also gone more up scale too in the last decade.
