I just came across a 2010 NC Miata that my brother-in-law has from a inheritance with only 16,200 miles and it's mine now and am doing my research to begin doing things to it, I've watch so many of your videos to inspire me especially the new turbo video!!!!!!
I have the same year and mileage but bought it in 2018. Great fun car... beware it can be a bit twitchy on the freeway! (passing and fitting in a slot) Mine is cream with a brown top.
Actually omw to Colorado this weekend to pick up a 2013 Club with 18k miles on it. Can't wait to drive it home to Utah and get my project started. I'm going with a BBR 200 kit
My ND1 2.0 UK BBR Turbo has Max Power=183HP@6850 RPM, Max Torque=164.0 ft.lbs@3900 RPM, original spec was Max Power=158.9HP@6100 RPM Max Torque=156.6ft.lbs@4100RPM, this car puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
Hey , congrats from spain. I was trying to buy a nc miata becouse of your videos. But here nc miatas with a lot of km are almost as spensive as a 2016 ND. And finally a ND comes home in a week. I will be always in love of the NC.
well, I am relieved that it took a month + to do the install because of issued not related to the turbo install itself. because I was thinking "if it takes FM a month to install their own kit, my car is gonna be off the road for a year!" 😀
That’s the nice thing about FM, it’s turnkey. Well, mostly. Let’s hope for the best. Looking forward to more of your content on this add on. You do a great job of providing insight.
This would have been so much better with close ups of the underbonnet alterations and some spec or rolling road figures/comparison with bbr turbo specs etc etc. I think we all knew it would feel different and would like to have learned something we didn’t already know.
Yep, a lot to come in future content. For a video that I had merely minutes to throw together, this is what I ended up with. Could’ve been better but this wasn’t meant to be a deep dive. That’ll come!
I'm sharing all details that I'm allowed to. Some crucial info is still under embargo as the kit isn't yet available publicly, so I have to disagree with your sentiment...
Really want to know how it'll hold up to track use? Will it need any extra cooling mods to survive 15-20 minute track sessions other than say an upgraded radiator? Also, can you delve deeper into how it delivers power now? Does power drop off at all at the top end? Does it continue to rise as you go up in the rev range? Thanks! Looking forward to this kit.
would be great for someone with experience and actual technical knowledge to do a proper video, extra points for a rotarytronics gauge or real world data so we can see temps after some dragy pulls
I cannot wait to order mine. I'm definitely waiting for that mythical add to cart button. Cash is waiting in the bank to throw at FM... and if it releases about when they said at summer camp, I might also have to toss a stage 2 fox kit in as well, assuming that @FlyinMiataVideo has them back in stock when the turbo kits go on sale, lol.
So..... 250bhp puts a smile on your face, mines a 25th ae, fully forged, BBR turbo, running 9psi boost =365bhp.Total linear power delivery!! Makes my head explode!!!!! Enjoy it, more power will come, it always does!!
I assume all the development of the turbo kit has been done on left hand drive cars and therefore, for those with right hand drive cars this kit is not an option as the turbo sits where the brake booster and ABS circuits are located in the RHD NCs. I'm also keen to hear what you think of the ride and handling differences with the new bushings and alignment. Keep up with the great content. Cheers from Australia.
Haven't watched yet, but I will on my lunch break. Really interested in seeing your impression. I opted to pass on the turbo setup for now and went out and got me a NB2 to work on. Not sure what my next steps on the NC will be, but I'll probably be doing NB mods for a while.
Congrats! Been waiting a long time for the NC FM turbo. Eventually I will get one but just letting them get the bugs out. Just curious what bushings needed replacing? So around 250hp at the wheels? Price?
I'd have thought given your love for the Miata and the way they feel, that you'd have gone with a supercharger. I've never liked turbocharging revvy N/A cars, I feel it takes something of their character away, and you get torque at the expense of that 7600rpm fizz right up at the top end. Id I was going to go forced induction, I'd go supercharger I think
I've always been more of a fan of supercharging over turbo as well, but in speaking with the FM guys at summer camp this year, it sounds like this turbo is pretty perfectly sized for this engine and avoids a lot of the typical "turbo downsides". HP and TQ uplift across almost the entire power band it sounds like, just with a little steeper curve. I still prefer the noise that a SC makes, but I plan to order my turbo kit the second they are possible. If there was an non-centrifugal SC kit easily available for the NC, I would have likely had to argue with myself between grabbing the sc NOW, or waiting for the FM kit, lol.
the LONG AWAITED VIDEO IS FINALLY HERE!!! Such Huge congratulations are due to Jordan, to Flyin Miata, and to Ghosty! What a journey it has been. Cannot wait for a ride in this car!!
@@FlesHBoX thank you. That is what I had recalled too. If two of us heard it then it’s more likely legit. The 2.5 + turbo could be a nice tabletop shove of torque!
There's a lot I don't know about tuning so sorry if this is a dumb question. I have Versatuner for my miata, if the tune file is ecutek or something, would that same file work with Versatuer, or how would that work. Sorry, I know little to nothing about stuff like that
You may want to submit a request to VersaTuner for info. You might need a tuning file from them, which you should have license to get if you have it for your car.
Flyin' Miata was most certainly not sold to Sarasota Supersports. We sold them our ND V8 program, but that's it. Flyin' Miata is still very much controlled by Flyin' Miata.
I’m not a lawyer, however I’m nearly 100% certain it voids many parts of the warranty… this is my second/fun car, my other is stock and will remain so for reliability purposes. I’m not interested in waiting 3-5 years for drivetrain warranty to expire, turbo goes on at ~6500miles.
Hey! I am trying to start up a youtube channel based around my miata and my job at a junkyard, what was the process of getting in contact with flyin miata? I would like to pursue a partnership or something like it at some point...
I mean, just contact them. I don't think its for this guy to tell you how he went about making his channel work for you to compete against him. Go figure your own shit out.
@@1061shrink1061 bro im not trying to compete you dont have to be an asshole. Are car channels not allowed to ask questions on how they got to where they did. I love this dudes channel ive been watching forever, Stop being a dick💀
For a not so rude response, i think the relationship happened because of his channel already doing well. FM wanted exposure, and this is one of the most popular nc specific channels. If you can get your channel up and running with great content, I'm sure they'd have no issue doing a partnership. Just takes time and persistency. I'd love to see another nc channel, the more the merrier! Good luck mate, I truly hope it works out! 😊
My best advice is to just start doing it. Make content, learn as you go, make what you want to watch. Diligence and perseverance really do pay off and as you grow, it can create relationships naturally. Attending the events helps a ton too, meeting people face to face!
It depends on personal taste. If you like more linear or smoother power delivery, then NA is odviously better, but if it doesn't count, and you prefer bigger pulls even at 2500-3000 rpm, then turbocharging is the way.
I rode in his Miata this past weekend yall. It’s everything you want it to be. Crazy pull, turbo flutter, giggles galore, bliss.

Really not too much lag. Much less than many turbo cars I’ve tried. But it’s also not quite linear of course.

Nope no supporting mods needed that aren’t included with the kit (injectors, intercooler. Etc)
Sick. Can't wait to see your turbo content. It will sustain me until that magical add to cart button appears.
Which turbine housing did you get? 0.64 or 0.86 A/R? What made your mind on the choice?
.64 ar is really the only way to go. .84 ar would be too laggy
Could this be a reason to replace the Mazdaspeed? : ) Hmmm..... an NC resurgence seems to be on the horizon!
The mazdaspeed miata is 10x better than this
