With high compression engine supercharging is more rewarding. None of the heat issues of turbos. With regards NC gearboxes. I can tell you the NC3 box was strengthened because issues with the NC1 and NC2.
Still holding off on Turbo/ Supercharged. Also reminder if you do Autocross or track events it can throw you into up-tier classes. Daily drive with track events the 2016 ND is pretty solid. If you can afford it go for it, but like he says do your research! Good videos man! From Cali-Az
I want to hear about what internals you would buy? I know there's BBR GTI internals but theirs lowers compression which I've heard is an absolute pain to tune, especially with a turbo and other mods. There's other brand pistons but they're fast top which isn't a good idea for these engine either. A video on internals would be awesome!
Absolutely. My 2018 Club with a BBR Stage 2 Turbo system had a tune and it sucked. Bryan at FAB9 made me a tune that was awesome and I can now run full atmospheric BOV.
I bought the kit as well, but it's not tuned, runs great except I get some pops and bangs from it running lean, I have a banks digital gauge and it plugs into the OBD2 porte and it reads as high as 16 AFR, but according to Engineering Explained the extra unburned air has an EGR affect that keeps the combustion temps low but effects the timing. Who did your tunning if I may ask and were did you buy the MAP sensor? I bought mine from FAB9 but it only reads up to 4 psi.
I bought a tune from ECUtek which is what I saw online as the best upgrade for the AVO turbo kits. My analog boost gauge reads anywhere between 4.5 - 7 psi depending on rpm, temp, and altitude. I get much welcomed backfire as well and the car feels much smoother and more snappy to drive. I believe ECUtek recommended a specific MAP sensor to buy when I got their tune.
@Vitale just found you channel. I am planning to get a Nd1 mx5. Which out of the 3 turbo options you mentioned is CARB certified or california legal and will pass a normal smog test (not hot smog)?
Early models: gear grinds from LSD. Late models: synchro issues. The solution is typically to add really heavy gear oil, but it makes it hard to shift in cold climates.
How fast do you want to push these cars anyway. With a top speed of 149mph. I’ve had more than my fair share of speeding tickets in mine. Leave it alone! It’s designed to do what it’s designed to do.

You are so cool, talking about your awesome Miata while sitting in your police car (former).
Thank you So Much! Gold mine of information 😍
Can I email u anywhere to further discuss the subject ? 😁

It cost a lot but... Still way cheaper then a used M3
@@AaronMacadangdang-d7d and also much more faster than M3 cause weight... I have got M3, M2c both are very very heavy and boring....
I would also love an overview of how this Avo kit is setup. Is there an electronic boost controller?

Keep it up bro
Many thanks for sharing this very valuable information with us. I appreciate 👍👌
FAB9 can probably fix your tuning issues.
They did!
@@Vitalewastaken nice!

@@BoostedNDMiata:) You still running only VE?
I wonder if a supercharger would be more consistent like with the bucking

never buying used
if i drive an automatic, what changes do i need to make before fitting a turbo kit? do i also need to change the transmission?
What muffler do you use?
So what gears when out on your turbo ND? From 1-6?
You dont have to drop the rear subframe to do a diff swap on an ND. I helped swap my buddies Diff for a factory LSD in an afternoon/evening.

I believe BBR sells a CARB legal system.
@Vitale what wheels spec and exhaust setup are you running bro?
Custom straight pipe with a Goodwin racing twin tip muffler.
I believe the gearboxes are stronger in the later ones?
A bit, but not enough for the turbo long term from what I've researched.

@@TransformHypnosis Thanks for the info
I put a Stage 2 NC tranny from Walter Motorsports in mine. With 300 whp I’m still struggling with putting power down as my clutch failed instead.
Nice video, but dang dude, maybe you shoulda got a C7 Corvette!
Miata is still more fun. Keeps you out of trouble, but also a momentum car. With a fraction of the cost. I would say a Porsche before a C7
I have a C7, a Porsche Turbo and a Miata GT, so I’m pretty familiar with the differences. I’m a car guy, not some millineal keyboard ninja.
so nd2 transmission would work with turbo?
It could work in the short term, but I wouldn't be comfortable long-term with that. NC transmission is the move.
No, it really couldnt...
i think superchargers make more sence to miatas... but still TOP
Couldn’t you just rebuild an ND transmission with stronger gears?
I thought they came with an lsd
Only in the Club model, I have the GT.
@@Vitalewastaken i thought that even the gt trims get the lsd? I'm pretty sure the new ones do
@@umarberjees4511only the manual from 2019+
Hmmm , just sell your ND2 and get a NC , then turbo that.
Tip 6, dont mess with your stock miata
