I think it's really worth it to have a turn key set up like this. I have a pretty extensive collection of ROMs and I still would consider buying this just so I don't have to go through the hassle of setting all the crap up and scraping the screenshots and stuff.

TBH, Lauchbox is so capable and easy to setup... you are much better off downloading romsets and building your own launchbox drive. It wont be filled full of junk roms in foreign languages that way. Buying other peoples build hasnt made sense in a long time. Hyperspin was such a huge pain in the ass to setup and took so long to get media/configs handled, that it was far more worthwhile to pay for someone else's build than spend 80 hours on your own. But with Launchbox, after you've downloaded the roms and put them where they belong, you can have your full build setup and config'd in just an hour or two.
@Second Lease Gamer I fully support this statement. People will spend a ton of money on pre-configured drives, and most will never play but 5 to 10% of the games up there. From what I understand, the emulator should load the full ISO into RAM (assuming you have 16GB or more) and then run from there, so SSD will only improve on the initial loading speed of the ISO file. Game performance is mostly determined by what system/CPU is running the games.
How would one go about playing a 4 player game with this? I've never tried local multiplayer on PC, is it as simple as just plugging in 4 controllers and it works?

It is just a standard USB HDD, why would there be excess rights problem? Unless you're using an office PC with USB port restrictions, that means other USB HDD will also have the same problem. One option is to connect to another PC and copy out the files to your own HDD and use it.
so even tho i have this i've not got round to installing it & i was wondering i know its ment for pc however i was wondering if it would work on a top of the range tv via pluging it in to the usb.
No. I see lots of people here are confused on how these things work. The drive just holds the games and the media files. Think of it of copying a song to a CD. The Drive is the CD in this example. You need a computer (CD Player) capable of running the games (Songs on the CD) still. If you want to run this on a TV, its impossible, but you CAN take a modern PC, and hook it up to your TV, then hook the drive up to that same PC, and play all these games on your PC over your TV. But yeah, a lot of people are confusing this hard-drive with a computer, and its not that.
I have a total bad ass pc that can play anything, ALL I WANT is a huge ass sd/hdd/usb stick with ps1,ps2,ps3,xbox,xbox360 games. anyone know what I should get???

edit: 200 for the 5tb. its a bit steep. but u know whats also steep? wasting a ton of time downloading all the games. honestly. if u wanna get into retro gaming this thing seems like a damn beast.
seen some good reviews. and with this u dont need to find sketchy sites to get the games. plus like it said on the page perfect if u just got a gaming pc or steam deck.
I order mine, and i got it yesterday, but i can open the playstation 1 and game cube games, any help o suggestion, thanks
I noticed stutter on the dreamcast games due to it being on a HDD. I usually have to run cd based consoles like dreamcast and 3do on a ssd.
From what I understand, the emulator should load the full ISO into RAM (assuming you have 16GB or more) and then run from there, so SSD will only improve on the initial loading speed of the ISO file.
Game performance is mostly determined by what system/CPU is running the games.
I run DC games fine from HDD.
The first kinhank one that i bought used Botacera and i was required to boot to the HD itself. Is this one the same or does it run inside windows ?
Runs inside windows
@@cooltoy thanks !!!
How would one go about playing a 4 player game with this? I've never tried local multiplayer on PC, is it as simple as just plugging in 4 controllers and it works?
Correct
How do you obtain the CHD files? Are they in the file, just not in the correct location?
Google “game name”and CHD and you’ll find the files you need
@@cooltoy thank you🫡
Hey, I could really use assistance. I bought a mini pc ( miniforums um690) just to try this product out. I’ve had this for 2 weeks and spent hours trying to figure out how to use it. I can’t figure out how to play launch box, n64 and above without stuttering. I’ve tried to access retro arch via launch box and change which core it uses to play n64 games but it doesn’t change the core and stays stuttering. If I connect it to another mini pc that already has retro arch on it and plays n64 games and above fine. But still when i access n64 games and above via launch box via this external hard drive it still stutters. Can someone please! Help me?
I Have Gaunlet Dark Legacy For My Actual PS2 And Play It Often And ItnIs The Best Home.Version Of All I've Played .
Also RUSH 2049 ON my DREAMCAST which is the only version I've found to play like the arcade
@cooltoy 🎯🎯🎯Hey Cool ... Would this hard drive plug n play when plugged in to a Fire Stick, Fire Cube and Apple TV box?? Show us how. Thanks. 🎯🎯🎯
Nope, pc only hard drive
@@cooltoy thanks for the quick reply... what would be the cheapest but powerful enough pc we can buy to play all the games on the hard drive?
Those cheap Android TV boxes can play upto Dreamcast/PSP games. Anything above that you'll need a x86 based PC running AMD or Intel CPUs.
Are you able to back it up in case the hard disk crashes or gets corrupted?
Yes
Do you have any info on the case? Mine did not have the case included.
Sorry that would be a question for the manufacturer/seller you purchased from to answer
i have a problem !
The error is this: Windows does not have access to the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
dat happen when i open the retrobat the emulationstation
It is just a standard USB HDD, why would there be excess rights problem? Unless you're using an office PC with USB port restrictions, that means other USB HDD will also have the same problem.
One option is to connect to another PC and copy out the files to your own HDD and use it.
so even tho i have this i've not got round to installing it & i was wondering i know its ment for pc
however i was wondering if it would work on a top of the range tv via pluging it in to the usb.
nope
This is a USB drive with Windows applications that need Windows OS to run.
Can this system be ran directly from your TV or monitor, or does it have to be plugged into your PC?
Has to be plugged into the pc
Would this all run well on a AMD Ryzen 7 5800U Mini PC?
got mine today, and some games don't have sound on launch box. any ideas how to fix?
Contact the manufacturer/seller
Hey. How to play switch game on this drive? On my drive it stand i most scrap?
I have a total bad ass pc that can play anything, ALL I WANT is a huge ass sd/hdd/usb stick with ps1,ps2,ps3,xbox,xbox360 games. anyone know what I should get???
I bought the same exact thing and none of the PlayStation one games even load, and I seen another video with someone showed the same thing they don’t work at all
How was the load times on GameCube and the other higher end systems?
Good for me, but that type of thing would obviously vary depending on the end user’s PC specs
@@cooltoy Well I was mainly talking about the fact it's on a spinning disk. My PC can play pretty much anything. Just was wondering if it loaded data quick enough.
Should not have much loading time difference for old retro games between HDD and SSD, they're not like all the AAA PC games with tens of gigabytes of texture data.
@@acejon2162 I didn't figure but if the read speed was terribly slow it could cause an issue for the later systems. So just wanted to make sure.
Though not this particular drive, but I've tried PS2 and Gamecube games on both USB HDD & SSD on Batocera and no loading issues for me.
Hi Man, there Is a sort of configurations steps to do, or its just ready to play?
ready to play
@@cooltoy thanks buddy!
question does this have all of the pokemon games on it
really? is this working just like that? that's great...what about dos games?
Can you tell me if it has wwe here comes the pain for ps 2 on it?
and does it have nfl blitz 2000 and nfl blitz 2001 for ps1?
Nice vid 👍🏾
Will this work on a nvidia shield or android box?
Nope
Does it have at least XBOX 1 as seems that these drives always seem to be missing at least the xbox 1 console and games
Can you add systems and roms to this drive or is it maxed out.
There is space available for some additions.
