No prob! A mini pc is very easy to setup, it's just like a laptop or whatever. Not as easy as an android based console, but still pretty easy. Especially with a drive like this that comes all setup. You're not gonna get PS2 and dreamcast if you're not on a PC. THe android consoles are great for the old stuff (genesis) and up to ps1/n64, but none of them can do ps2 or gamecube. For that a mini PC is the best low-cost choice. If you do want to go the easy android-console route (keeping in mind you'll only get up to Ps1, n64, and dreamcast) then the most powerful version of those is the Super Console X King. amzn.to/3WMIDEK . Great video! One question I have is if you checked to make sure they didn't put a pirated license of Launchbox on there. This is a thing I have read about from the developer of Launchbox is that some of these drives have the full license on it and they shouldn't.
Great video Tech Dweeb! One thing worth mentioning is that pirated pc games often contain virus' as well so might be worth scanning the drive before using it?
Actually I did a scan (I probably should have mentioned that in the video). No detections. But like I suggest that folder should just be deleted anyways so that should sort out any issues.
THIS THING LOOKS AMAZING!!! Made up my mind as to what I'm going to buy. Never going to need another console again with this it has everything I could ever want to play and the best part is I don't have to buy any of them individually or have the console to play them!!
One complaint I've heard from someone on a previous video is that they couldn't start launchbox for some reason is this true and if so how would I fix that? Any help would be great!!
Thank you for convincing me to get this emulation drive. Im new to emulation and this thing is truely amazing. I can't get Sega Saturn to work wich is kind of a bummer, but other than that this thing works perfectly. I highly recommend it to anyone who's new to emulation unless Sega Saturn is really important to you.
Oh yeah? I wonder why it's not working for you. You can probably get it to work if you tinker, try starting up retroarch by itself, loading up a Saturn rom, and then when it asks you which core try several different options.
So I would not worry about the pirated PC games. 1) For 1, pirating tends to increase sales of a piece of media. When someone tries something and they like it, they are more likely to buy it. This is likely more true with the old/incomplete versions of the game. It is essentially like a long demo. 2) Pirating does not hurt devs. In many cases the person was not going to buy it anyway. And in reality, sales do go to the dev's profits. They go to their employers profits i.e. the people who steal the dev's labor. 3) Not everyone can afford a lot of games. A one time purchase of a 5 tb drive or systems like it (i.e. pirating) may be the only way some people can afford to experience a game and will be the only way of access for them to be able to do so, and I don't believe in gatekeeping people because they are too poor. So all in all, I think the devs won't be hurt from this piracy
@@eduardopatricio The basic desktop version of LaunchBox is free. I use it with my setup with thousands of games. As far as i can tell the only thing that is paid is the BigBox mode and some customization options like themes and stuff. If you look at the LaunchBox segment in the video you can see it denotes "free version" in the upper right.
As a newbie to this retro game emulator world… this video was phenomenal not to mention all the useful links you left in the description. HUGE THANK YOU!!!
How are you getting on navigating it all? I'm completely new to it too and doing as much research as I can but it's kind of intimidating. Mostly because of the ROM situation and worrying about viruses etc lmao. Should probably be fine 🤞
People, just curate your own collections. You never know what craziness you're putting in your PC if they're willing to straight up put pirated modern PC games on it... 😂 Messing with emulation settings can be daunting, but it's a fun learning experience if you're into tech. I curate my own collections for my emulators by ripping my own games and other "archives" 😉 And I still find time to do that working two jobs. And best part it's free and won't give your PC a Trojan. 😂
@@JetSetTyler then spend the money duh. U pay in labor or you trade your labor for cash then trade cash for someone else's labor. This is the first box, well usb drive, I am impressed with and tempted to buy. I have gathered a bunch of roms before, but I never set them up like this because it felt a bit tedious. For my pc, that I use as an arcade, I downloaded bundles of roms that were set up for CoinOps. It had a good arcadey selection. This one looks well done. I would probably keep playnite, delete the pirated pc games, and add some legal copies of easy to run games from GOG. The launchbox and emulationstation split is still weird. I am assuming it has to do with emulators and ease of use? Anyone can correct me if I am wrong. Emulation station is controller friendly, but it relies on emulators runnining in retoarch. Most of the emulators are good, but some are not. I see most people use the standalone versions of PSP, Saturn, and PS2. I have never used launchbox.
Honestly I think the only reason they are separated is out of laziness, they probably downloaded two separate ROM libraries that were pre-configured with these applications. There's no reason you couldn't just have both romsets featured under one single application..
@@TechDweeb @TechDweeb I was wondering if you wouldn't mind dropping a short video on how we can add retro emulators of OG Xbox, Wii, WiiU, PS3, Xbox360, NDS, 3DS etc to this "Hyper Base Mix" if it is even possible? Hi guys!! How does this compare with the 2TB JW hard drive you reviewed before? Does it still have as many retro Sinclair , C64, Mame games on it as the other hard drives aswell as all the high end stuff aswell?.... I'm impressed with all the PS2/ Gamecube games available on this one!! It looks amazing!! BTW, great Utube channel Tech Dweeb!! 👍👍
Yeah a lot less dups. Check the game lists in the description if you want to know what's on here, I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to those old retro computer systems.
Your Oreo technique is chaotic and unformed. It's an obviously passionate engagement but lacks proper Oreo-corum. To be honest it's refreshing. So many people follow a rigid Oreo eating regiment. They use techniques they learned from their parents or in commercials involving complex pre-dunk algorithms and post split tonging. The whole thing feels like a ballet that's been over presented. I like your style. You eat that which appeals to the eyes next, combining the ingredients as an almost afterthought to the cravings of your pallet. Keep being you, Dweeb.
I already have a near perfect retro rom collection from 3do, Jaguar, TurboGrafx, Cave, CP, Konami, Atomiswave, all Sega consoles, all Nintendo consoles and Virtual Boy, PS1, PS2. Right now I'm working on getting PS3, 360, and a nice collection on Nintendo Switch roms :) I'd definitely buy this just for the PC titles.
As if 2TB emulation hard drive alone is still not enough, now we have a 5TB hard drive. Pretty shady that they put 1TB of current Steam PC games into it but at least you can delete & replace those with more PS2/GC & Wii/OG Xbox stuff + a few of my fav PS3/X360/Wii U and DS/3DS games.
@@TechDweeb Full rom set of DS, that's pretty neat! Now, I have to aim for 3DS ROMs with DLCs included (pointing at you, Fire Emblem 3DS games & those developed by Level 5 & Square Enix).
The reason they added the PC games is because they most likely have crappy emulation on the PS3 and Xenia emulator. The performance difference between RPCS3 and Xenia compared to the PC versions is huge. I'm guessing new 5-6 year old pc games people wont buy for there consoles because they have updated to the newer consoles.
I personally, would have a PC game, but the requirements are that they're not sold anywhere except on eBay. (Old need for speed, 2d GTA (also 3d GTA that's not defective edition since they got delisted), Richard burns rally, some DOS game that's not available anymore (which means Doom doesn't count)
Dragon's Lair arcade is on his video at 6:36, yay. The linked list link doesn't work for me. I agree with you on the actively-sold-games shouldn't be on the HD. I buy all my emulated games from the licence holders as re-releases become available, plus I have a ton of original hardware and their games. I just HATE dealing with the rom setups and the front ends. I really wish Gauntlet II and Spy Hunter could be bought for current hardware (they did sell on old HW like PS1,PC). When they can be sold again, I will buy them. Looking for a spy hunter and gauntlet arcade machine. Please everyone, support the companies that sell re-releases.
Loved your video very interested on this harddrive. Is it really plug and play though? As someone who is not really tech savvy i'm hesitant to spend that kind of money and then not being able to use it because like I say I don't know a lot about this kind of stuff.
Really hope to find another Emulation Pack like that - just with more real Oldschool titles and international shipping (this only does ship to US). Though sometimes I think it's a bit overwhelming having all these options - some pre-made favorites/top50 games per console would be great for starters.
The thing is top 50 for you is not the same top 50 for another person. Each retro gamer likely have their own individual top 50 retro games. If there is too many games, you can just go into the rom folders and delete all those games you don't like. This is exact meant for that, i.e. for individuals to make their own favourite games collection.
Dude this is exactly what I needed to get my little Niece up and running on old school games. Thanks

THIS THING LOOKS AMAZING!!! Made up my mind as to what I'm going to buy. Never going to need another console again with this it has everything I could ever want to play and the best part is I don't have to buy any of them individually or have the console to play them!!
Nice! Hope you love it!
One complaint I've heard from someone on a previous video is that they couldn't start launchbox for some reason is this true and if so how would I fix that? Any help would be great!!
Also would you be able to make a video on how to add games?
@@deconstructingnarcissism3062 You can still use the frontend of your choice with these roms, you're not locked to the ones in the disc.
Thanks for your video! This collection is bananas!! I appreciate you bringing this to us!! Cheers!!
I love tech dweebs voice it makes the videos fun
Thank you for convincing me to get this emulation drive. Im new to emulation and this thing is truely amazing. I can't get Sega Saturn to work wich is kind of a bummer, but other than that this thing works perfectly. I highly recommend it to anyone who's new to emulation unless Sega Saturn is really important to you.
Oh yeah? I wonder why it's not working for you. You can probably get it to work if you tinker, try starting up retroarch by itself, loading up a Saturn rom, and then when it asks you which core try several different options.
@TechDweeb I will try that, thank you TechDweeb! 😊
WTF with the oreo XD

Dumb question. Did you have any issues hooking up controller's? Like xbox or ps5 controller's via blutooth? Thanks
Nope
Keep it up Dweeb Lol love the theme of the channel. Brings me back to old cartoon network show.
Thanks buddy!
Great vídeo, thanks a million! ✌🏼😁🎮
What about the Launchbox license? I doubt these drives hold genuine ones. It's a current product and this would be undercutting the developers.
I thought Launchbox was free, but Bigbox is paid?
@@TechDweeb it's free only up to a certain number of games. 100 maybe?
@@eduardopatricio The basic desktop version of LaunchBox is free. I use it with my setup with thousands of games. As far as i can tell the only thing that is paid is the BigBox mode and some customization options like themes and stuff. If you look at the LaunchBox segment in the video you can see it denotes "free version" in the upper right.
@@killswitchscar1060 Ah, right. So the 100 games limitation must be on the Android version then. 👍🏽
I finally got mine and it’s amazing it does feel like a dream
Hey mate, you forgot to add the link for the list of games on the drive
Doh! Thanks for letting me know, they're added.
Great overview!
Hey man thanks for the videos,
Can I copy the entire drive into an NVME super fast drive ?
No reason to really, but yeah
Yup!
I was thinking the same thing or to just put everything in launchbox
As a newbie to this retro game emulator world… this video was phenomenal not to mention all the useful links you left in the description.
HUGE THANK YOU!!!
How are you getting on navigating it all?
I'm completely new to it too and doing as much research as I can but it's kind of intimidating. Mostly because of the ROM situation and worrying about viruses etc lmao. Should probably be fine 🤞
People, just curate your own collections. You never know what craziness you're putting in your PC if they're willing to straight up put pirated modern PC games on it... 😂
Messing with emulation settings can be daunting, but it's a fun learning experience if you're into tech. I curate my own collections for my emulators by ripping my own games and other "archives" 😉 And I still find time to do that working two jobs.
And best part it's free and won't give your PC a Trojan. 😂
What if I have two toddlers and work 40 hours and don’t wanna do all that tho
@@JetSetTyler then spend the money duh. U pay in labor or you trade your labor for cash then trade cash for someone else's labor. Depending on your income it might cost less to just pay the professional and work your job but for lots of us poors out here we dont make enough money to pay someone else so we do our own labor. This is a very good point. I hope everyone runs Bit Defender.

... *opens up the massive 5TB drive to find a near empty plastic box with a 32GB micro sd card inside*
One thing that is bad about it if you buy it you could end up in prison. Its unlikely but most first world countrys have laws against buying stolen stuff.
This would be awesome for us TechDweeb subs.
I have a more than capable PC and want a drive that is awesome! Deleted the shady PC pirated stuff. I just need pure retro bliss.
Musashi47 here have the same controller too 😅 great video
Also, it looks like a lot less duplicate ROMs on this hard drive?
Yeah a lot less dups. Check the game lists in the description if you want to know what's on here, I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to those old retro computer systems.
From the video looks like no retro 8/16-bit computer games?
Your Oreo technique is chaotic and unformed. It's an obviously passionate engagement but lacks proper Oreo-corum. To be honest it's refreshing. So many people follow a rigid Oreo eating regiment. They use techniques they learned from their parents or in commercials involving complex pre-dunk algorithms and post split tonging. The whole thing feels like a ballet that's been over presented. I like your style. You eat that which appeals to the eyes next, combining the ingredients as an almost afterthought to the cravings of your pallet. Keep being you, Dweeb.
oh nice vid too
I think this might be my favorite comment ever
Nice sir it's super expensive in india
Ah that's a bummer. I know you guys often have to pay more for things that are cheap in North America :(
Don't let the price get you down. You can always make this yourself. I know it can take a while, but can be fun to make it the way you want it.
@@joshsadowski8869 ok sir thank you for your advice i will try
I fully agree with you. Retro games are okay, but current Steam games are absolutely not.
voice dubbed by a smurf?
I already have a near perfect retro rom collection from 3do, Jaguar, TurboGrafx, Cave, CP, Konami, Atomiswave, all Sega consoles, all Nintendo consoles and Virtual Boy, PS1, PS2. Right now I'm working on getting PS3, 360, and a nice collection on Nintendo Switch roms :) I'd definitely buy this just for the PC titles.
Man that hard drive is cool but I like this guy more! Glad I found this channel! I subscribed!
Is that a madcatz controller I see?
Thanks for saying so! This is an "afterglow" xbox one controller. Cheap but I like it.
@TechDweeb o ok cool! I miss the good ole days
Clicked for an emulator, ended up with Oreo asmr
As if 2TB emulation hard drive alone is still not enough, now we have a 5TB hard drive. Pretty shady that they put 1TB of current Steam PC games into it but at least you can delete & replace those with more PS2/GC & Wii/OG Xbox stuff + a few of my fav PS3/X360/Wii U and DS/3DS games.
Actually DS is already on here, they have the full rom set. I'd love more 3DS & Wii games for sure.
@@TechDweeb Full rom set of DS, that's pretty neat! Now, I have to aim for 3DS ROMs with DLCs included (pointing at you, Fire Emblem 3DS games & those developed by Level 5 & Square Enix).
No clue how did i get here, but nice video!
Good review. THANKS
pretty cool, i hope one day it will come with a pc
Just get a MniPC and plug this into it?

I’m having issues launching launchbox, any advice?
Dude this is like the wild west. I'm going to take this as companies really no longer care, outside of the Nintendo Ninjas of course.
The reason they added the PC games is because they most likely have crappy emulation on the PS3 and Xenia emulator. The performance difference between RPCS3 and Xenia compared to the PC versions is huge. I'm guessing new 5-6 year old pc games people wont buy for there consoles because they have updated to the newer consoles.
usually if they include older games back in 2002 to 2009 its ok. im sure many poor people wants to play this and dream about this many years ago.
You can buy many old PC games from GOG.
I had a library of classic RPGs that I bought from there.
Huh, this is a product I never would've thought of.
It is just a USB HDD where you plug into any Windows PC and run the apps.
You Sir, rock! Thank you!
Thanks buddy!
Wow this looks too good to be true, I would gladly downsize my game collection and get this

Those things are really awesome! Is there a 12TB one that is compatible with Mac?
Really hope to find another Emulation Pack like that - just with more real Oldschool titles and international shipping (this only does ship to US). Though sometimes I think it's a bit overwhelming having all these options - some pre-made favorites/top50 games per console would be great for starters.
I agree! The US gets all the fun toys (I'm in Canada). I like the sound of a top 50 pack!
@@TechDweeb ur CanadiaN? UNSUBBED :(
They ship worldwide if you shop at some known Chinese websales portal...
This is probably the best one I’ve seen
Great video. Will this work on Mac M1?
The emulation frontend is a windows program, so you'll need to install your own emulators, but you could use the roms off this drive with your Mac.
I'm glad Zach Hadel decided to branch out his content type
