    it's years since we did the coastal walk from Polruan to Polperro. beautiful sunny day - various butterflies followed us on the way. View of Lantic Cove, turn a corner and confronted by the lovely white & blue cottages around the harbour!
    I'm a cream on first, like butter and then the jam. It's a superb cornish treat.
    We took the local mini-bus service back to our camping site in Polruan. (Drinks in the evening in Fowey).

    Hello from the States. I’m learning much about the history and geography of Wales and other parts of Great Britain by watching your entertaining videos. I pulled up Polperro on Google maps to get a sense of its location in England and read a little about its history. It is a very scenic little seaside town. I think I would substitute peanut butter for the cream and have a nice PBJ scone. Looking forward to the next one. Stay safe and be well.

      It's a beautiful part of the UK , lots of interesting fishing villages and tasty food. Next time, we are just down the coast in a town called Looe.

    My father was evacuated, along with one of my uncles, from London to Polperro as young children during WW2. They were living in London during the blitz because my grandfather (William John Redvers Lewis - what a name!!!) was working there, laying the mosaic floor in the entrance to a famous hospital (that I can't remember the name of at the moment). Anyway, they returned to Ogmore Vale and my father and uncle were reunited with them because South Wales was a lot safer than London! My parents later visited Polperro every year and had some caravans in Newquay, where they would stay (I was living with my grandmother in Pantyrawel so didn't always go with them). My father had fond memories of his childhood staying with a woman in Polperro and spoke about it frequently. It was a very small, quiet place at the time and he loved it there, both before and after it became the tourist attraction it is now.

      Thanks for the story and the memories. By the way, Mel's dad was from Pantyrawel.

      It's just come to me that the woman my father and uncle stayed with in Polperro was a Mrs. Welsh (ironically), though she was not Welsh. Also, I remember him talking about a little footbridge across a brook or stream that they used to cross, along the road or street where they stayed. He also spoke about days out in nearby Looe.

    To make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, spread peanut butter on one slice and jelly on the other. Then, smack the two together. Do the same with biscuits, English muffins, scones, etc. Fortunately, I learned that in Cooking class in Junior High School / Middle School. Learned many other useful cooking tips as well.

      What about butter in sandwiches. We always have butter on the bread before any other spread in sandwiches.

      Butter, mayonnaise and similar stuff on bread is good for some people and not for others. It helps prevent constipation. However, if you are prone to diarhea, then go easy with butter. Butter the bread first, getting it into the nooks and crannies of the bread, especially if bread is hot or warm. Bread surface will help adsorb some of the butter and keep melted butter from dripping out.

    Pasty looked the best! Sorry to have to correct everyone but it really does have to be cream first. (And maybe a separate spoon for the jam!)

      I agree but I think we're in the minority with that approach.

    ALWAYS creme first and then jam, the Devon way. Marcus, I agree with what you say, with the creme replacing the butter!😊

  • @benstradling7615
    @benstradling7615 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not really bothered but it is easier to put the jam on the cream just cut scone in half on one half put the cream on the bottom and on the other jam
