Would also would recommend Alphabet in the Park by Adelia Prado, I’ve heard good things about it as well and it’s next on my list! It’s hard enough to find poetry not in the current go-to style, and even harder to find poetry not in said style that still resonates with the individual. Poetry is such a personal thing-but I hope this helped!! Good luck!(:

"we grow old chasing the truth we knew as children" isn't even bad. it's an interesting, intriguing concept, albeit one that has been explored in many different forms. the execution is just plain lazy. this is more similair to a tumblr post from 2014 than to an actual poem. it's just a sentence with no structure at all and kind of leaves the "work" to the reader, who has to wonder what meaning was even intented by the author with only a one-layered, simple sentence as a clue to what it could possibly mean.

They just end abruptly like those people who make a good point and then say, "But you're not ready for that conversation." 😑

i'm currently 14 (15 later this year), taking literature in school, and my friend and i can write poetry that's more decent and thought-provoking than atticus' shower thoughts lmao. i'm not even into creative writing but i've been a bookworm for the longest time and i've read up on poetry, techniques, and the classics. poetry is good, and this book is definitely not it. it's like if the fifty shades of grey series/franchise was marketed as poetry with a whole new face. what has our world come to?

So Alina was a girl that was a huge fan of Atticus's poems to the point where she got a verse of his tattooed on her arm. Her friend messaged Atticus to see if she could get an early release of his audiobook before she passed, but he opted instead to read his book to her in person. By the time he got there, she was unconscious, but she could still hear, so he read his poems to her and read some poems she had written. She passed away shortly after. So I have no qualms with this dude. Props to him.

That would be a beautiful story. It's not technically a poem according to the constructs of what poetry is (much like the poems in this book), but it's a beautiful and interesting thought in poetic prose that I think would be wonderful if developed into a short story or a full poem.

So Alina was a girl that was a huge fan of Atticus's poems to the point where she got a verse of his tattooed on her arm. Her friend messaged Atticus to see if she could get an early release of his audiobook before she passed, but he opted instead to read his book to her in person.
