  • The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is a beast of a smartphone and at $1300 is certainly in contention for the best Android phone around. However, does it do enough even 6 months later? And is it too clinical to feel special? Find out in my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 6 month review!

Personally there's no way the s24 ultra should be boring. The problem is we live in an era where everybody has their face glued into a phone majority of the time so if it gets boring it's probably a sign that it's time to start interacting with people without having an electronic device in our ear or our face. That's probably why the battery life on the fold don't last that long because they're trying to get people to have something to enjoy but not consume their life anymore than what these phones already have.

The thing is that these days, people do most of their daily tasks on their phones, so it's natural they spend a lot more time on their devices. And there's nothing wrong with it, you know why? Because these fucking things cost like a $1000+ on average. The battery life on the fold is bad because Samsung have become a greedy scum, that's it. Actually, that is horse and buggy thinking. One plus utilizes 80 w fast charging here in the United states. They overcame the battery degradation issue by developing new technology. Their flagship devices utilize more than one battery cell inside the device. The wattage is divided among that and the heat dissipates much faster. Thus, there is no battery degradation. The problem Samsung and Apple have is that OnePlus owns the patent for their super vooc charging. At the end of the day, Samsung and Apple are behind the times. I have 1 + devices from several years ago that utilize that same technology and their batteries work perfectly.

The S23 Ultra lasts me 2 days easily but the Redmi note 13 pro plus I have to recharge it at least twice during the day! I've had the Redmi Note 13 pro plus for a few months but I have the impression that the battery is already dying. In addition there are times it charges quickly there are times where I have the impression that the S23 Ultra charges faster. A shame! Personally I think 45 W is good. I think Samsung must have reasons for not going faster with charging. I don't think most people give a damn about this stuff.

I couldn't disagree more. I always hated Samsung designs, except the Note. The Note was interesting, it looked professional but still a beast, it's literally the best of both Worlds, you can take it to meetings, be super productive with it, and then enjoy all forms of entertainment on it like no other phone. It's what Blackberry should've aimed to become in order to stay relevant these days. When Samsung launched the S21 I almost loved it, but the camera setup just looked bad for me, I didn't like the way it stood up from the rest of the phone, like a different piece of it. Same thing was happening to OnePlus (my favorite brand) after the OnePlus 9 Pro, the camera module just took too much attention and you either loved it or you hated it, I was on the side that hated it.
Since the Galaxy S22 Ultra that I have been amazed by Samsung, they figured it out, the perfect phone (at least for me). The design is sleek, stealth and elegant while bursting with power and with all the premium features like the S Pen that makes it stand out but in a proper non flashy way. I completely disagree that it lacks character, it simply lacks the character you are looking for. It's like me saying the new OnePlus lacks character when it clearly doesn't, it simply doesn't suit the character I'm looking for in a phone. I'm now able to have a productivity power house, perfect for taking notes during meetings, working virtually anywhere thanks to Dex, and whenever I'm done with it just be able to play all my favorite games, without compromising on the aesthetics that are so important to me.

Micro SD is always a nice addition but it is so rare on flagships nowadays and the extra storage is not that much tbf, it's not a big enough thing to ruin the phone

I have the S24 Ultra and love it. Coming from the S21 Ultra and the 10x to 5x lens is noticeable at 30x but tbh images but hardly a show stopper especially as its filled that gap where the s21 s23u were so bad (5x to 9.9x).
I feel the criticism here about it being bland has some weight, but not much. Samsung just know they're onto a good thing and haven't changed it up too much (similar to the iPhone).
Where Samsung are leaps and bounds ahead of Apple (in my view) is the software experience. Multi tasking on One UI 6.1 is excellent with so many great features and customisations that you just keep finding. Also the S-pen is very nice to whip out for a bit of light room or video editing action.

I don't want my phone to be more than a tool, from the exterior. I customize my own UI and change it all to my liking; that's the part that's interesting and unique. The phone itself should be a utilitarian piece of hardware, which the S24 Ultra excels at. It's a "perfect" slab phone, and it doesn't need to be more than that.
If you want weird and experimental, go for a folding phone. Beyond that, there's not much worth experimenting with phones now. Bad designs just create more ewaste. With 7 years of updates, the S24 isn't TOO good, it's just fantastic, and that shouldn't be a mark against it.

It makes handing the phone down to a family member much more viable and helps hold overall device value. And I like that the phone styling is boring and minimal. Fits my personality, haha. While your tone sounds negative for a lot of viewers, I can understand your point though. I got mine because of the heavy preorder deals. Coming from a note 10 plus, the biggest improvements for me were the video recording (the stabilization is pretty much the best among android phones now) and slightly better image processing. The best feature for me is the anti-reflective screen. I wish all smarthones would adopt this soon. Apart from that, it still feels very similar to my Note 10 plus albeit being snappier and the battery lasting longer, but it's not like my note 10 plus was a turtle by any means. Had the updates not stopped, I would've stayed until they ran it out. The last Samsung phones that had that wow factor for me in terms of design was the S8 and the note 10 plus. It's been pretty stale after that.

I feel like reviewers say that there's nothing special about product X and product Y because they got so used to and numb to the high end products. Products that are "Too Perfect" just becomes average and boring to them. Hence, why they're so amazed at products that are half the price that does what its supposed to. But for a person like me that's using the OnePlus 7 and iPhone 12 Pro Max, I would love to sell my phones and get the S24 Ultra instead. It has so much going for it but gets severely downplayed mainly because its "boring".
Also, the photos and videos are fine. You can shoot in manual mode and output raw, and edit them later on. Not using Manual Mode isn't a reason to complain that the pictures it takes as a whole is not good enough. This is just a user not exploring the capabilities of the phone. No ProRes Log? Lets be honest, the percentage of people that actually use that are so low anyway to the point its negligible. If you're a professional or wanting to be a professional you'd already have a camera that does a better job anyway. Also I've seen so many videos about S24 Ultra being used to shoot cinematic videos with the right equipment, setup, and most importantly, knowledge. It seems ignorant that you didn't try or mention this.
"I really wanna love it". But according to you its "Too Perfect", what else do you need to love it?
