I mean I've had galaxy devices since the original S3 and honestly the curved screen were never particularly more fragile in my experience. The durability of the screens themselves have just improved so much over the years.
well it did only say video playback which does make it pretty obvious that it wasn't streamed content since that would give a lower number of hours than a local file
One thing I havnt seen discussed as much is how much easier it is to make screen protectors now that this thing is completly flat. My biggest issue with my s23 ultra has been its insistence to not let any screen protector I use not peel or completely ruin the ability to use the fingerprint reader.
The only screen protectors that I was satisfied with on my n10u, n20u, and s22u were the whitestone-style ones. At 20 bucks a pop after buying the installation jig and light. Together with cases only coming up halfway on the sides to keep the curved edges open, the curved screen experience for me personally was not the best. I'm glad I switched to the s24u.
@@GH0STST4RSCR34M My guy nobody can line it up perfectly, that's the issue. I agree got mine last Friday and love the feel of the phone in my hand. It was a bit of a battle readjusting my fingers to edge swipe flat vs having to dig in but the phone has been amazing. The brightness of the phone is stunning coming from my S21 Ultra. Camera is amazing coming from the 21 and the responsiveness of everything is so appreciated. My only gripe is that the saturation of color has to be fixed when it comes to natural vs vivid mode. I recognize that as someone who uses a DWF monitor that the colors may be somewhat more natural but I had a pseudo cyberpunk theme that contrasted a dark black blue with a deep bright red so that was extremely noticeable when I first turned on the phone. Though I have adjusted somewhat I still want that deep red. I am surprised that Linus didn't mention that. Though the anti glare armor is amazing. I almost don't want to put a screen protector on it. One last thing about the phone, going back to the brightness. It has made it difficult going back to my S9 Ultra because it doesn't look as bright as it used to before I got the 24.
Though sone of the changes are indeed great I cannot justify an upgrade from 23 series, especially from 23 Ultra. I think that its worth upgrading if you're coming from at least 22 series
I went from the S21 Ultra that I used the last few years to the S24 Ultra. Been using it for the last few weeks and it's an amazing phone! Got 2 of them for $818 each with Samsung's trade in offer. Not to damn bad!
Okay, now we're talking. This is the very first phone of theirs that I would consider a worthwhile upgrade from my Note 9. Apart from maybe the Folds, but they're still asking a _lot_ more than I'm willing to part with for those, so they're off the table for now. Edit: Ended up ordering one today. I've long since stopped paying any active attention to phone releases, so cheers for the actionable tech tip!
I can't to back after recently switching to a Fold 4. Having a pocket tablet is incredible for reading, sharing photos, etc. For example I can have my calendar up full screen and with a swipe but a small floating calculator up as I budget my month.
6:58 This phone supports a maximum of 45W of charging. Even if you connect it to a 65W charger, it won't take more than 45. In fact, it might not even take 45W. I have a 65W charger and when I connect it to my S22 Ultra, it says "Super Fast Charging", which means 25W. When you connect it to a 45W compatible charger with a 5A cable, it shows "Super Fast Charging 2.0"
never been that in to samsung phones but keeping an eye on them lately and the S24 exynos sure cought my attention. tweakers net looked at it and it's battery lasted notably longer then phones with similar sized battery's. i'm not sure if the snapdragon can pull that same party trick but the fact that it's slower then it's kin gives me hope (it almost looks like it was set up to be more efficient then just all turbo all day to be as snappy as possible which was how i set up my phones back in the custom rom/Kernel days...ah the good times except for that time you undervolted your cpu to much and it froze in the middle of the night also freezing your alarm clock ^^" but got screen off battery drain to less then 1% an hour on a 1860mah battery ^^)

I dont recommend getting large iPhones, you will not benefit from the size since there are no extra features! On the other hand, when you take the Ultra, you will enjoy the large display with split screen and s pen and many things of this large device that many small devices can’t do.
I remember once I left my s22 ultra on minimum brightness with the extra dim mode on and when I woke up I freaked out because I had forgotten that it was on dim so I ran around screaming that my phone broke and then after like 3 hours I realized that it was on dim. I felt like a dumbass to be real.
I got my S24 Ultra two days ago. It's really nice and I like it a lot, but there are issues. Vivid color mode basically doesn't work, the screen is not as bright as my old Note20 Ultra, the 5x camera has less detail than the S23 Ultra's 10x camera did, and there may be a large number of devices with manufacturing defects in the display. Mine personally has graininess and banding, most noticeable when looking at a 5% gray image at 10% brightness in a very dark room.
Oof the quality just keeps going down after they did a 180 with the s2x and started copying apple instead of being the innovators. Long live S10 series.
@@clee40Not according to Samsung if you Google for Samsung's latest response to this perceived issue. Same. At first I thought. Oh it's not that big of an upgrade. Now everytime I pick it up I think "Man, this screen is insane. I thought the S23 Ultra was fine, but this is amazing"
If you need lower lowest brightness, samsung has a "Extra dim" feature in quicksettings, I use it on my S21FE and it goes as low as being unreadable at pitch black darkness
As a samsung user, I will upgrade every generation for 2 reasons 1~ I can easily flash everything on the older to the newer 2~ sometimes it's a free trade in and when I have to pay it's only a few hundred.
Oh damn, flat screen? Better for screen protectors. (And yes I need one. I've shattered 2 on my S23 Ultra). I also still just want a top bezel for a seamless no notch display, nice speaker for calls, proper selfie flash, and an LED indicator. That's the feature I miss the most.
5G cut out???? Mine doesn't have anything like that, and I haven't seen it in any picture!! And I bought it directly from Samsung! What phone is that? 😳😅
Any thoughts on Vivid mode not working? Settings-->Display-->Screen Mode-->Vivid isn't doing anything. It's just Natural (even when vivid is selected) that most people switch from as soon as they get their Samsung phone
Idk if i got a faulty unit, but my S23 Ultra does not get bright enough for outdoor use. I simply do not get it. I have extra brightness turned on and i struggle to see my screen at full brightness under direct sunlight. This was never an issue with my previous phone, a OnePlus 9 pro. Which if i remember correctly is supposed to have a significantly less bright display. That said, its my only complaint with the 23.
4:34 I agree, I like the curved display too, and I'm currently daily driving a note 9 too! The s pen is so useful. I do my math Homework on here by importing the pdf on here
I still got the base s21. Will probably upgrade to s25 ultra next. The battery life, performance, and screen brightness are reasons enough for me to upgrade. As of tight now, im fine waiting another year or 2.
6:57 Samsung's own site & specs sheet says S24 Ultra charges at 45W max (9V5A), so did the Labs Team mess up saying you charged it from 0~100% charging at 65W?

about the apple ram issue, people keep saying ios devices are "optimised" or whatever "they dont need that much ram" but my apps like youtube on ipad and iphone kept freezing and crashing... lol
You don't need ram..... If you don't allow apps to run i. The background!
It really sucks that if you switch from a webpage to a different app and back, the whole page was removed from ram and it has to reload the page. Can be very annoying.
I love my iphone for video.. but a lot of the other stuff not so much.
"I always liked the curved display" Me looking at his broken-ass curved glass phone. Riiiiiite
Had several of them so far, no curve glass breaking, but two of them does have breaks on the rear, flat, glass 😅
I mean I've had galaxy devices since the original S3 and honestly the curved screen were never particularly more fragile in my experience. The durability of the screens themselves have just improved so much over the years.
@@Nightykk I will never understand how having glass on the back of the phone makes it "premium". 🤔
I feeeeel that. Would have loved to be able to get a flat screen and glass screen protector on it
Curved is so much nicer to use with back gestures. Flat display with case sucks for back gesture.
i love my s24 ultra so far. came from an s21 and its awesome for pictures. the AI generation on photos is really cool and slightly scary
Well, luckily they won’t even be free finding, since Samsung is charging for them starting in 2025. Talk about misleading.
10:05 circle to search will be coming to all google tensor devices as well
it's been here for a while now
My Pixel 8 already has it
It's already available
Hold the assistant button and press "search screen."
My P8P already has it.
1:34 Lmao it's so funny during the reflection comparison you showed the Note 9, i literally just upgraded from that phone to the S24 Ultra.
9:53 I mean you could still technically use this on older androids such as the Note 10 plus using google lens. Its the same kind of technology.
i think they wrote 30 hours at 6:47 because they played file which was saved on the device rather then using You tube.
Might be. Samsung may have it on airplane mode as well.
True @@SnifferSock
@@GH0STST4RSCR34Mahhh don't think they need to go that far to squeeze out like 16%, airplane mode saves mad amounts of battery
well it did only say video playback which does make it pretty obvious that it wasn't streamed content since that would give a lower number of hours than a local file
One thing I havnt seen discussed as much is how much easier it is to make screen protectors now that this thing is completly flat. My biggest issue with my s23 ultra has been its insistence to not let any screen protector I use not peel or completely ruin the ability to use the fingerprint reader.
Also when you put most cases on you can't even see the edges, so it's pointless having a curved screen.
@@GH0STST4RSCR34MNo it wasn't. It's impossible to find proper glass protectors because they always peel up if they aren't PERFECTLY aligned
Dbrand says its not completely flat, only the display area. They tweeted about this.
@@GH0STST4RSCR34M My guy nobody can line it up perfectly, that's the issue. I've applied screen protectors for years as a cell phone salesman, still had one tiny little imperfection in the corner that lifts up and eventually spreads and ruins the protector. Plastic works fine since it's thinner and molds better, but it's also a LOT harder to apply.
Google Lens image search has been a thing for a long time, the only difference here is that you can draw a precise circle rather than a resizable box
it's also way easier to do now( no screenshots required)
@@markopolic9964you've never needed to take a screenshot. There's a button for it in Google assistant.
That's what I've been thinking since I saw the first review.
I've been able to do this with my Pixel and my old Redmi for ages.
@@markopolic9964 On my Pixel 6a running the latest Android I can hold down an image or text in the window selector and search with lens, no screenshot required - this has been the case for as long as I can remember.
They need to bring back the squeeze gesture introduced in Pixels.
I noticed, when testing the circle to search feature with the navigation features, changing the haptic response speed in accessibility settings improved the feature!
The free until 2025 is the biggest bs I've seen google do apart from the youtube premium thing
Changed from a S21 Fe to a s24 ultra and it's 🔥🔥 so far

13:43 hmmm.. But if you take a screenshot of the photo and crop out the portion where the watermark is, that would still be a problem, especially the screenshot has a different metadata I think???
That "magic circle select" is not exclusive feature of 24.... it's Pixel feature. On the apps screen you can tap select, select any image in any opened app and click "googel lense". Samsung simply put that begind gesture, but it's absolutely there on Pixel. And on pixel it allows you to select text as well
You can select text on Samsung devices as well
I agree got mine last Friday and love the feel of the phone in my hand.
5:00 it is probably the software capping the device because as shown, the vapor chamber work well...
Circle to Search is currently Samsung and Pixel exclusive now thou.
I went from the S21 Ultra that I used the last few years to the S24 Ultra. Been using it for the last few weeks and it's an amazing phone! Got 2 of them for $818 each with Samsung's trade in offer. Not to damn bad!
14:00 AI: "how dare you use my power against me!"
Over time, China will become cheaper and perform better. If you wait, you can buy great Chinese products.
Most likely when they mentioned marking the image itself, they also mean in ways that we can't spot visually but which a computer can.
Like tracking dots from a printer except digital.
About the dbrand magsafe case does the magnet interfere with the spen?
never been that in to samsung phones but keeping an eye on them lately and the S24 exynos sure cought my attention. tweakers net looked at it and it's battery lasted notably longer then phones with similar sized battery's. i'm not sure if the snapdragon can pull that same party trick but the fact that it's slower then it's kin gives me hope (it almost looks like it was set up to be more efficient then just all turbo all day to be as snappy as possible which was how i set up my phones back in the custom rom/Kernel days...ah the good times except for that time you undervolted your cpu to much and it froze in the middle of the night also freezing your alarm clock ^^" but got screen off battery drain to less then 1% an hour on a 1860mah battery ^^)
5:18 is this supposed to be a MatPat Jacket or the Alien guy jacket?
MatPat Jacket
Both y not
Tbh there isn’t much to change I mean it’s not like they can just make a full on animated icon pack live wallpaper and like 15 sponsorship versions with custom first party mods….
Although that would be pretty cool if they did it
Circle to search has got to be the coolest feature of a phone the past few years...Truly nuts
It’s very convenient, but It’s nothing you couldn’t already do with Google Lens. I don’t have an S24 yet, so I’m not sure, but I can’t imagine that it will be too much of a game changer for the average user.
It isn't boring, it is sharp AF, literally, these corners are sharp to the point you can hurt someone using it LOL
I like the fact that the S24 Ultra doubles as a weapon, love the fact that it's essentially has four blades built into it.
It is not a bug it is a feature! You don't get the self defense feature of f*cking sharp titanium edges on any other phone😂

It's quite a disappointment that LTT and many others not shitting on Samsung for the paywall on ai functions and not being really upfront about it.

Is the Samsung S24 Ultra really much better than the iphone 15 pro max? If yes, I really want to buy it but not sure if I want to cancel my apple card just to transfer. The benefits i get is the cash back from apple pay. Does google pay have something similar? Like a credit card they offer?
A few of these are almost definitely software fixes, but the banding/grainy display is possibly a hardware problem.
Oof the quality just keeps going down after they did a 180 with the s2x and started copying apple instead of being the innovators. Long live S10 series.
yeah the vivid colour mode is apparently a bug
@@clee40Not according to Samsung if you Google for Samsung's latest response to this perceived issue. Apparently it is a new more natural colour display that people may notice isn't as punchy colourwise as older Samsung devices. It's meant to be this way and nothing is broken is what they finish with.
never used or cared for an s pen in my life. Got this phone and starting using it all the time wth samsung, now hurry up and update the vivid colors
Get used to natural colors and it wont matter. I ran vivid on a s22u for a long time then swapped to natural and prefer it now.
First phone with a s-pen for me as well, having big fingers, this is sooo nice for some applications, I also take alot of notes and begin to appreciate the pen for drawings some ideas that are difficult to write in words and such. The glare reduction outside is awesome too !
don't know if it was intentional but did anybody else notice the records in the background look very similar to the camera on the s24
I'm very curious as to why Linus' model has a 5G antenna cutout and other models don't?
This is a great format for reviewing products, dropping someone in at the deep end with the item and just telling them about what features exist, and letting them figure it out in real time.
Not really since they end up missing a TON OF THINGS, especially when there is no main channel video properly showing what the phone can do
This isn't a review
@@CallMeRabbitzUSVI But there are plenty other channels who have full reviews, and most of them have all the same content and format, it gets a bit boring after a while. But this is a little different.

1/4" professional audio output in the psuedo-penhole would be sweet.
So I live in Europe (The Netherlands) and mine doesn't have a 5g cutout. Anybody know if this differs from the North-American versions?
I don't use cases, if a 1.2k device which is meant to be carried everywhere needs one, the producers need to take a look in the mirror.
"we don't' have room for headphone jacks, anyway here's a giant fucking pen that takes up an entire side"
Also, fuck your extended storage. What's that, want a bigger storage version? Let's say you can get that for about 100 euro's extra. Fml
Typing from the S24 Plus :D love it!
Same. At first I thought. Oh it's not that big of an upgrade. Now everytime I pick it up I think "Man, this screen is insane. I thought the S23 Ultra was fine, but this is amazing"
@lackoliver55 well it depends from which phone you're coming from, I had a S20 FE :P
@@FO0TMinecraftPVP Even better!
If you need lower lowest brightness, samsung has a "Extra dim" feature in quicksettings, I use it on my S21FE and it goes as low as being unreadable at pitch black darkness

1~ I can easily flash everything on the older to the newer
2~ sometimes it's a free trade in and when I have to pay it's only a few hundred.

What's the date night idea thing called? I'd love to get something like that
5G cut out???? Mine doesn't have anything like that, and I haven't seen it in any picture!! And I bought it directly from Samsung! What phone is that? 😳😅
Any thoughts on Vivid mode not working? Settings-->Display-->Screen Mode-->Vivid isn't doing anything. It's just Natural (even when vivid is selected) that most people switch from as soon as they get their Samsung phone
6:48 it clearly shows Samsung was using local playback and not TH-cam. Thst in itself should have a sizeable difference in the battery life
And that’s why you gotta read the fine print
Idk if i got a faulty unit, but my S23 Ultra does not get bright enough for outdoor use. I simply do not get it. I have extra brightness turned on and i struggle to see my screen at full brightness under direct sunlight. This was never an issue with my previous phone, a OnePlus 9 pro. Which if i remember correctly is supposed to have a significantly less bright display. That said, its my only complaint with the 23.
4:34 I agree, I like the curved display too, and I'm currently daily driving a note 9 too! The s pen is so useful. I do my math Homework on here by importing the pdf on here
9:00 Enjoy your grainy display Linus. And what exynos version ? And samsung s24u doesn't support 65W charging only 45w...
I still got the base s21. Will probably upgrade to s25 ultra next. The battery life, performance, and screen brightness are reasons enough for me to upgrade. As of tight now, im fine waiting another year or 2.

Why you are never addressed the shutter speed and blurry photos for moving subjects issue to let samsung focus on?
6:58 why say you used a 65W charger if it supports a max of 45W charging?
6:57 Samsung's own site & specs sheet says S24 Ultra charges at 45W max (9V5A), so did the Labs Team mess up saying you charged it from 0~100% charging at 65W?
Yes, sometimes these tech guys are just content creators at the end of the day
No, the website uses the measurments with the "included" charger, LTT used an third party charger. This was also mentioned in the video
they probably used a 65W charger and assumed it charged at 65W, like the average consumer would
