I think the nitpicking over the voice translation not being "live" doesn't take into consideration that with translating, you also have to consider the grammatical/word order conversion you have to do as well with people who speak a different language. That alone requires some latency for someone to finish a statement before you can properly translate. So i don't think "live" translation will ever be immediate, 1:1 as someone is talking.

about live translation, i don’t think what David is suggesting about taking a voice map and making it into different languages is not that big of a leap - it would be a HUGE advancement, languages are extremely complex and have so many unique and different sounds that change the meaning of words in different languages. some of these sounds we don’t even get close to making in english. i think it would have to be an extremely advanced program to take the sounds of english from an english voice map and make them all of the sounds of other languages.
8:21 correct me if I'm wrong, but I think live translation as described by David is pretty hard to achieve(or impossible) as grammar works in pretty different ways depending on the language.
Not if you've got a pretty intuitive Ai. I believe live transcription is possible. It may have an acceptable among of latency too miniscule to be an issue. Especially with all those multi model Ai's coming online now. Definitely achievable.
Regarding Vision Pro feature questions: 1. The Quest allows you to stream live video to an iPad using their app. This proves extremely useful when friends demo the device, as you are able to walk them through how to use it. I’d imagine when you did your demos, Apple employees were able to see what you were looking at, but will that be available for consumers using Vision Pro, on Apple TV, for example? 2. I realize in your demos you were able to look at your own recorded spatial video from your iPhone 15 Pro, but I wonder: will spatial video recorded natively on the Vision Pro actually have a more pronounced 3D effect, as the distance between the lenses on the Vision Pro is farther than the distance between the lenses on the iPhone? 3. Does the Vision Pro allow you to accept phone calls like on a Mac or iPad, for example? How do they sound? 4. If logged in as a guest on the Vision Pro, what does iMessage or FaceTime do? Or if you’re letting a guest use your Vision Pro, how would you be able to share a spatial video with them for them to watch it while in guest mode? 5. I’m curious how the Eyesight feature would work for someone like Nick Fury, either with an eyepatch on, or with a disfigured eye (how does it display that?) 6. How do notifications appear? For example, if you’re in an immersive experience (like Disney+ at Avengers tower) and you receive a FaceTime or an iMessage, how does it appear? 7. To your point of the device being heavy, one highly requested feature on Quest is the ability to watch a movie while laying on your side (so the room perspective “rotates” 90°, does the Vision Pro allow you to do that? Thank you! Great job on the podcast, fellas!

Re: the Vision Pro, folks repeatedly mention "playing a game" on it, just as a general use-case and how that might be tough due to the weight. My question is: What games will be available on the Vision Pro? I haven't heard anything about game announcements, but since reviewers keep alluding to games, I assume Apple has talked about that? Also, how much *does* the VP actually weigh? And what's the resolution? Refresh rate? Field of view? Is all this info still NDA'd?
Hi, I'm no Marcus and haven't used VP. However I try to answer from what I know: Facts: - they will give you some "experiences" that are interactive, but not games. Like virtual butterflies landing on your finger, and dinosaur roaring at you in 3D. It was in apple video that was just released. - they will allow you to play playstation 5 games. They said it on initial announcement. It is flat playstation games, with playstation dualsense joystic. You need to buy it separately. It will be a remote play. - it will have 23 million pixels resolution, 600-650 grams weight excluding battery in your pocket, 80-100 hz refresh rate. They have technical specifications. My opinion: Field of view probably will be around 100 degrees. Forget about the games here. This device is not for it. But there are VR headsets that are good with games
@@readabookdummy I think it could change the industry only if it would have mass adoption. Probably not first gen, but who knows what could happen in 2026 for example
I wonder how much of the oddness with EyeSight is the fact that it only looks semi-normal when looking at the user straight on? Seems like whatever is displaying the user's eyes would need to be set at least an inch in front of where their eyes would normally be, so any slight off-angle look at the user suddenly shows their eyes as if they were a cartoon "gawking" forward, for lack of a better phrase. Humans might not be able to specifically call out what's wrong with an image, but we're incredibly adept at noticing when something is "off" -- the uncanny valley of digital actors is a perfect example of this.
I was easily able to buy the Vision Pro 3 hours after pre-orders opened. I just checked, and 20 hours later, the only in-store model that is sold out in my area is the 256GB version. Both the 512GB and 1TB are available for pickup on February 4th.

does browsing safari on the vision pro feel like browsing edge on an xbox? Like, useful to have in a pinch but you don't really want to use it often and it's way faster to search on your phone or laptop instead?
It’s hard to imagine instantaneous translation unless the AI can very accurately predict what the speaker will say next. I speak Japanese and the grammar kind of operates in the reverse of English so you don’t really know what’s being said until the verb shows up at the end of the sentence. But even a delay would be amazing.

I tired to pre-order my Vision Pro this morning at 5am. I did the face scan -- and had to do it a few times cause it wouldn't scan correctly. It WAS nice that Apple offers Reader lenses. When I got it in the cart at $4500 after taxes and accessories, my Apple Card was declined. To try with another card i had to start ALL OVER again because I had chosen monthly payments on Apple Card. And then once I got back to the Bag and tried to purchase with a different card, it was also declined. I know I had enough limit on both. By that time, I couldn't get one on release date -- it was not to be shipped mid-February. So I just gave up and didn't order thinking another card would be declined.

However I try to answer from what I know:
Facts:
- they will give you some "experiences" that are interactive, but not games.
My opinion:
Field of view probably will be around 100 degrees. Forget about the games here. This device is not for it. But there are VR headsets that are good with games
not sure about them adding different user profiles to the VR thing, I've been waiting for them to do the same on iPads and still waiting ...
53:22 "If I have my wife, but I don't have a wife"--us bro moment😭
yea..... I don't think wife was the right word for that individual.
No snapdragon in s24 and s24+ in the middle east
Live translation feature is not something you use daily, but it saves lives when really needed. Just like fall and crash monitors.
Do you guys think that if some of the weight was in the back of the head(more balanced) the weight wont bother you so much?
36:22 as an architecture student I literally cannot wait for this product it could change the whole industry
why all previous VR headsets didn't change them?
@@MrKineindidn’t hve the same hype
@@readabookdummy I think it could change the industry only if it would have mass adoption. Probably not first gen, but who knows what could happen in 2026 for example
3:07 that’s the wrong phone in the footage
Did they not see any of google’s circle to search ad that released after the event?
I wonder how much of the oddness with EyeSight is the fact that it only looks semi-normal when looking at the user straight on? Seems like whatever is displaying the user's eyes would need to be set at least an inch in front of where their eyes would normally be, so any slight off-angle look at the user suddenly shows their eyes as if they were a cartoon "gawking" forward, for lack of a better phrase. Humans might not be able to specifically call out what's wrong with an image, but we're incredibly adept at noticing when something is "off" -- the uncanny valley of digital actors is a perfect example of this.
The circle 13:15 to search is coming to pixel 8 as well. I guess 31st January.
I was easily able to buy the Vision Pro 3 hours after pre-orders opened. I just checked, and 20 hours later, the only in-store model that is sold out in my area is the 256GB version. Both the 512GB and 1TB are available for pickup on February 4th.
What are you planning to use it for?
It's heavy, but also, not really? Middle of the pack?
VIVE Pro 2 @ 850g, Valve Index @ 810g, VIVE XR Elite @ 620g, Apple Vision Pro @ 600g.... Quest 3 @ 516g
12:07 it’s already in the pixel multitasking section
Cyberpunk 2077 players will understand perfectly Vision Pro's blue reflection in the eyes lol
Why does your Spotify pod come out earlier?
does browsing safari on the vision pro feel like browsing edge on an xbox? Like, useful to have in a pinch but you don't really want to use it often and it's way faster to search on your phone or laptop instead?
I can do the "circle to search" feature right now on my s23 just sliding my finger from the bottom corner. It does the same thing but without circling
18:00 Android Auto will mirror the icons and font of whatever your phone has moving forward
How can they be so wrong about processor in S24. It has Exynos version as well
It's the Eames Lounge chair designed by Ray and Charles Eames, the reason it's so renowned is that it was a huge step forward in manufacturing with their steam bent moulded plywood, plus it's just gorgeous. They were big into cheap, functional and beautiful design. love you guys love the show 👍
Thank you!
Also It's the model of expensive chair you get on The Sims games. Not officially but a very similar one
2:51 The sides do not look exactly like the iPhone.
Now ..
The only problem with this/mkbhd thumbnails is that it's set up to look like a vlog.
The thumbnail should be a picture of all sitting at their desk to let viewers know it a podcast.
These podcast are super refreshing.
FYI Samsung phones actually do have their own version of call screening. The only thing good about Bixby. It came i believe pretty quietly in OneUI5 or 5.1
How is "circle to search" different from calling up Google Assistant and pressing the "search screen" button that's currently there?
Only searches the part your highlighting which makes it much easier
You can do the same by moving the crop nodes in the current functionality
I just pre-ordered a Vision Pro this morning. Looking forward to using it in 2 weeks!
What are you planning to use it for?
18:46 when you say they don't have call screening? They are using the AI screening service to answer your calls, and find out the reason for the call before you answer? That's been there for a while?
So I just gave up and didn't order thinking another card would be declined.
the typing contest but with the Vision Pro keyboard
Circle to search is coming to the pixel on January 31st!
I wish Samsung would make a smaller Ultra. Like how Apple has the big pro and the small pro. I want most of the ultra features but in like a 6.4 inch phone
Really?!?
I could understand that. Currently have the 22 ultra. Love the size because I only use my phone for media consumption.
I keep all my phones and agree with you, sometimes use my second s20 that was the small one and is like how would I watch a video here or multitask ajaja
@@B-RaDD
Yeah, I really wanted the ultra, but went with the s23 for the size
I posted the same on X the other day. Like us with small hands are not allowed to enjoy Ultra features without having to carry a giant brick? I got the iPhone 14 Pro and love the size and the features although I am not an iOS fan
Got the Vision Pro with a mid-Feb delivery. Will only keep if I end up using it everyday. Otherwise, will sell it or return it. If it cant become part of my daily use, the price would be hard to justify.
why you got it then? Don't you loose some money when selling it?
Do you have an idea how you will use it everyday?
48:55 also...to pre order you have to have something with Face ID to analyze your face so you can't even just buy one to sell it for crazy money because it's pre ordered to YOUR FACE and Apple ID
I love this podcast. Its like the wan show but you actually talk about tech
When I try to change the quality, it says unavailable. Anyone no what's up? I haven't don't anything on it yet.
S24 and S24+ still have Exynos in Europe, which sucks.
I think where the voice translation will really work well is when you're on the phone with someone who likes to talk about you in their native language to someone when they're talking about you. :)
Has this ever happened to you?
@@aktm1407 Yes, that's why I mentioned it.
Not having profiles is crazy... like the Vision Pro doesn't have a whole desktop chip, and macOS has had user accounts since... forever?
Just buy another one for another person 😂
In the EU, India and Australia the S24 and S24+ come with an Exynos chip - not a SnapDragon
Some companies have announced that they won't be making a Vision OS version of their apps. That's new news right?
Isn't Circle to Search the same as Search Screen or What's on my screen? That has existed on Assistant for quite a while
the non ultra version of the s24 do feature the quinox processor in certain markets (not in the us, as there samsung has a patent dispute and is not allowed to sell it)
This is actually my second time thinking i have a faulty display
Whats with green line during the sponsere add😐
Can y’all do the a-z keyboard challenge using the eye typing method on the studio channel?
I'm pretty sure google Pixel 8/8 Pros are getting the circle to search as well right?
34:21 if they have support for glide typing that would be perfect, imagine glide typing with your eyes
