You were me before my friend asked to play Call of Duty Mobile. I got problem to saw enemy in smaller screen and got better k/d just by upgrading to bigger screen phone. Now I never looked back to compact phone 😅.
I know! I'd love to get the Ultra, but I can't comfortably fit a phone of that size in my pocket when sitting down, so it's a non-starter for me. Why doesn't Samsung ever think about people like us? It's not like Koreans are giant people.
A very down to earth review taking into account how people typically will use them and pointing out what really matters to the majority of users..keeping it real...well done.
one thing abouit the ultra glass - according to a first test that i saw the glass scratches at a lvl 7 - with deeper groves at a level 8 .. which is a HUGE step towards sapphire or even a transparent aluminium display hardness. No more micro abrasions. For me, this is a clear winner and a huge argument for the ultra
@@test_account939 Not 100% sure because i do not conduct those tests but... PBKreviews as well as Zack (jerryrig) said that lvl6 was residue from the picks and not scratches in the glass. No matter though .. the hardness seems to be on HTC U Ultra level (aluminium oxide as far as i know)
Remember few years back the Exynox chip models generated heat a lot quicker than the SnapDragon models while performing the same. The heating problem on Exynox however was no longer a noticeable problem after a couple of software updates. Not sure if the new Exynox models would have the heating problem again
My S9 was still going strong last year, but this year the battery was draining to 0% every 8 hours. 5+ years ago, I bought my S9 for $700, but surprised to see S24 only costing $100 more! Definitely going to miss the rear fingerprint scanner, aux port, RGB notification lights, and expandable storage. Hope the S24 can last to 7 years like you mentioned.
You won't miss rear fingerprint scanner, trust me. Samsung has got the best under display fingerprint scanning in the android world. It works extremely fast.
@@ConstellationOrion I forgot to mention that I like to have a full case for my phones. So I'm going to use a tempered glass, and I looked at the reviews for the S23 tempered glass and it seems to hinder the ability a bit.
Thanks for listing all of the differences that aren't on the spec sheet. Especially between the S24 & the S24+. The differences are small, but I find myself holding on to phones longer and longer because the upgrades aren't substantial. The small differences may be a bigger deal in 3 to 7 years when I upgrade again, so having the info makes a difference.
Thats exactly why I upgraded to the s24+. It has that 7 years support so I plan to hold on to it for a long time. Also, the upgrade to the QHD is what sold me. There's nothing wrong with the phone but, I had an s10+ and the 1440p videos on there were insane and I kinda saw that aspect as a downgrade. Everything else is phenomenal.
I'm not one to upgrade my phones year to year. My current phone is the Note 8. Im very happy that this lineup will get 7 years of support since some features has been disabled on my note 8 due to the software being out of date!
I had the note 9 and was very satisfied minus a few minor updates it couldn't get. But, I dropped it and it got ran over. I decided on the s24 ultra because I want to keep it as long as possible again.
I got my S24+ in Seoul, and so I got the ARMv8. :) This thing is an absolute beast. Nothing slows it down. But be warned, the first few days you have an S24, you will think that maybe you got a defective product, because the phone gets so hot at random times. I was quite worried the 3rd or 4th time I picked it up, and it was like it has been sitting in the sun, baking for 10 minutes. Like worryingly hot. And then it simply stopped happening! I later learned this is the Samsung AI power and thermal management software learning and adjusting itself automatically to the way you use your phone. :)
@quesokid4959 You misunderstood my comment. The 22 ultra is a big phone. So I downsized my phone to the 23+. Secondly, my phone was broken, so going through my insurance, I choose to upgrade to the new generation rather than staying with my current generation because the deductible is the same. You should really think about a person's situation before you comment on their character. And like you said there are no differences between the generation, so me going from an Ultra to a Plus model is a downgrade
@@RB-es1vxIf you have the s23 plus then yes it is. There's little real world difference in use between the two. They are both damn good phones and have exceptional speed and battery life.
Hey, another video that reviews the parts that actually matter instead of just reading spec sheets! Thank you as always for your videos that are from the perspective of somebody who actually uses phones instead of somebody who just looks at them.
I think the plus having faster charging, larger battery, ability to have larger res and more storage standard makes it the best pick. Also that bump in ram helps in dex mode turning the plus into a pretty nice desktop
Doesn't make it a best pick singlehandedly, it all comes to to your needs. For me personally, I need much smaller phone while still maintain great performance, that's why i picked the regular s24
I agree with you, especially on the storage. samsung is currently offering the 512gig for the same price as 256, so that sold it for me. i'm coming from an s9 and i have a s21 ultra that i picked up used last week. I actually love the bigger screen. but for the pricing and tradein deals right now, it makes more sense to return the s21 ultra, and trade in my old s9 for the s24 plus.
@@hydraplus510How is the battery holding power? And how is charging speed? I now use to 80W charging in my Oneplus Nord 3 but I'm missing a better camera
I have the S21 EU Exynos 2100 version for almost 3 years and I haven't experienced any slowdowns during regular use. I mainly use my phone for work-related applications and browsing, and everything runs smoothly. While there hasn't been a significant upgrade in the last few generations, there are two features I would like from the Ultra version - a better battery and an anti-reflective screen.
I also have s21 exynoz bought in pre-order Era, after this 3 years the battery is dropping so fast I need to charge 2/3 times a day and it's heating a lot.. even when i only opening instagram using wifi/ mobile data for 10 minutes.. 😢
@@jiyokchiok563I've been having the same experience. The battery wasn't anything to write home about since the beginning but it has gotten so much worse now. Plus, when the battery drops down to sub 10% it basically slows to a crawl. Even opening basic apps like Instagram and TH-cam makes it lag so it's basically unusable.
I love it. I hope you got it in the end! @@niasola I was going to go with the Ultra at first, but I honestly prefer the more rounded off look of the S24 / +. Same display, p much battery size. The Plus has the highest per pixel ratio too. Camera is much better than the s21 ultra i upgraded from. Despite not having the 200mp cam. Ig what I wouldve liked about the Ultra is the gorrila glass anti reflectiveness, the pen, and other minor bits and bobs. I dont think it warranted the 300 pound extra to get the ultra tbh, especially that i like the look of the plus more
I have always had a Samsung last 15 years. I will go to the 24 ultra for the anti glare and larger screen. As I get older my eyes need bigger. My favorite had to be the 10 plus right now I'm using a note 8. Well done video of all the ones I have seen on electronics Precise to the point without all the mumbo jumbo
I really appreciate your comparison of these devices. I've had phablet sized devices for 14 years starting with the Dell Streak back in 2010 and I DO love the screen real estate but currently I am starting to tire of it a tiny bit. Big phones are cool but I kind of want to go back to basics with a smaller device. I am worried tthe smaller battery on the S24 is a problem and I've had my eyes on the Plus but you've reassured me. I definitely want to take it for a spin. Thank you Mike.
Coming from a S22U, I wanted to downsize and get the S24, but it ended costing the same price as the S24 plus (with trade in) so I went S24 plus. I can't deny more phone for the same money.
@@qwerttzizziI went from s22u to s24 plus. S22u has colours that are more vivid on the display but the s24 plus has a sharper screen. Cameras on the s24 plus don't seem as good also. I replaced by s22u cos the charging port started to break. I still like the s24 plus and in hand it's way more comfortable to use with a case on. However it's not that big of an upgrade to me.
@@qwerttzizzi yes I definitely notice the extra sharpness and I prefer it. I prefer the camera of the s22u but I only point and shoot, I don't go into pro mode and edit pictures etc. right now I would say go in store and try one if you can, don't let the newness fool you cos even the s23 series are still great phones to buy
I've just upgraded from a S21U (exynos) to the S24U and it has confirmed to me that the S21U is still a very good phone. Done a few side by side speed tests (no benchmarks obvs.) and it was dawn near as quick. Screen also holds up very well too. If it wasn't for the fact the cameras have been playing up for the last year, after an extended trip to the bottom of a swimming pool, I'd have been more than happy to run it until the support ends.
I'm very happy you mentioned the display resolution because for some reason a lot of reviewers don't mention what resolution they're testing the phone at
Thank you for doing a video on the regular S24, Mike! You're the only person who has done one so far that I am aware of. I'm so disappointed that the regular S24 doesn't have the anti-reflective Gorilla Glass Armor. I wouldn't have known that if I hadn't seen your video.
Seriously, I've only ever had iPhone 11 & 13 (both amazing to me after my prior, S8+, and I can say without a doubt I'm excited to come back to Android after seeing the iPhone 16's Launch..
That is also what I found out, all devices are actually good after benchmarking the base S24 and seeing its temps, I am actually pretty content about it, you can also check it out i you want.
@@td8062I saw in a test that the S23 Plus had beat the S24 Plus. I'm not sure if these phones got that S24 update that was supposed to release on Tuesday
@@Moyaiville_ProductionsSnapdragon version could beat but Exynos S24 plus and S24 have inferior battery to S23 and S23 plus. Battery tests are out in india so Exynos isn't qs efficient as snapdragon although there are no throttling or heating issues.
I loved the S23 Ultra, but the impractical design of Ultras pushed me to the S24+ this year. The sharp edges and annoying weight of Ultras are not great. In my experience, the Plus is about as big and heavy as a phone can be while still being comfortable to hold in one hand for any significant period of time. Aluminum makes more sense than titanium because weight matters a lot in a phone. The lighter a phone is, the less likely you are to drop it, which negates the utility of stronger/heavier materials.
Same here, used S23 Ultra and switched to S24 plus only because its so much easier to use it, hold it, have it with you all the time. Only thing I miss from S23 ultra are cameras, sometime
I'm a digital artist, and wanted to be able to doodle on my next phone, so I've got myself the 24 ultra, upgrading from the regular S22. I can actually use my other digital pens on the screen since it's the same wacom technology in both them and the s pen. definitely a two hand phone in my tiny hands and clubbed thumbs. The screen's also wow-ing me in its resolution. Loving it so far 💚
It's a surprising conclusion. 😅 With the S24 lacking some of the features (like finding a smart tag easily) and starting only at 128GB, perhaps people who really like smaller screens will find it appealing. For most people, the S24 Plus seems to be a better choice. The price difference is not that significant when both phones have 256GB.
Currently have a note 10 plus, upgraded to the S24 plus and it should be coming in the mail today or over the weekend. I'm looking forward to enjoying it
I was really interested to hear that the S24, S24 Plus and S24 Ultra all get similar battery life from your tests. The main consideration for me with buying the S24 Plus over the S24 would be that it has a bigger battery, but I guess that doesn't matter as much as I thought it did. I'm not in the market for a new phone because my heroic S20 is still going strong, but if I were, the S24 would be my preferred model because I like the smaller size. 👍
Great video. I've got the 24+ on order. Got into the special pre-order thingy 2 hours before it was over, had to make a choice w/o seeing the phones. Two factors moved me to the +, the chip, the rate of speed for recharging (45 vs 25). I'd be interested to hear your take on the two chip options and if it should matter.
+ is best for optimal use and longevity. More bells and whistles that aren't really used only give more opportunities for issues to pop up. A lot of the most popular features tend to subsequently get added with updates.
Your videos helped put me on the s23+ last year! Loving the phone. Will stick with it for atleast 4 years. But these new 24s would be a great upgrade for people coming from s10 and such.
I have to s23 regular, and ordered the s24. The 24 is ever so slightly narrower, which should help with one hand use. Battery life is amazing, and everything looks HD on a tiny cellphone screen.
What about the display? Do the colours look washed out compared to S23? Did they with mess up the white balance like they did with S22? Also, how's the speaker quality? I'm curious since they changed the speaker output grill
My S10 has been a great little phone these past four-ish years, which is why I've put off upgrading her. But between the battery life to really starting to go and the sale on the S24 being too good to pass up, I finally made the call to change. Plus on Samsung's website I'm getting $200 trade in value (most places I'm lucky to get $40). I have small hands so the big old phones (Pluses and Ultras) don't matter to me, nor does the intricate camera/video features. I'll be excited to play with my new phone when I get it next week.
Similar boat here… S10+ has been great, but battery isn’t lasting as long … and the biggest reason being no security updates since support ended in April 2023. I was really torn between the S24 and S24+. Really would like the size of the S24 but without a SD card option the 256GB won’t quite cut it (don’t want to worry about storage management that closely). Ended up pre-ordering the S24+. Specs show it’s not much bigger than my S10+ but the S10+ has already been too big of a phone
@@wanderlust7020 I just pre-ordered the S24+ to replace for my 4-ish year S10+ as I have very good deal from where I am. Gotta say, I'll miss my S10+ cause the only reason for changing is that no security update anymore from SS.
I got the s10+ Verizon deal I got was, with the unlimited ultimate plan, and trade in my s10, j get $1000 off a pre-order of the s24+. And they double the storage, so 512gigs for me. Pretty much got a new phone for free, just 100 bucks out of pocket because of taxes.
I also recently gave in with the update my s10 was getting really hot and the power button and the bixby buttons have popped out somehow 🤣🤣🤣 over then that i went for an folding phone as it was cheeper and im stingy 🤣
I was a Samsung Note fan boy for a long time. Bigger was better. But for the last couple years I've been downsizing and loving it. My preference now is as small of a phone I can get but still having flagship specs. I had the s23 and absolutely loved it. (My wife has it now) Now I have the S24 and love this one too!
I just wish the Ultra was smaller - I know the whole stick is "bigger better", but I've grown tired of big phones at this point The Ultras and Premiums are almost the same size of my Nexus 7 tablet screen
One huge change this year for all the models that reviewers neglect to talk about or mention is the change to PWM! All the s24 models no have a 496hz pwm refresh rate! That means a lot less eye strain in person!
Fast charging has nothing to do with how you charge on a day to day basis - it’s for those instances when you’ve got no time and no battery, but super fast charging saves the day. Imagine waking up late with 15mins to get ready, and realizing you forgot to charge your phone overnight; now imagine being able to get a full charge in that time. Now imagine no more because XiaoMi’s already doing it; 0-100% in 17mins on a 5000mAh battery.
I pre-ordered the plus bc of the resolution and battery (since i want to keep it for longer thanks to the 7 years support), but looks like the base version lasts longer 😢
Very well balanced, clear & informative review, thanks very much. Very disappointed to hear that Galaxy AI is only free until the end of 2025 though, seems a bit misleading of Samsung considering this was a key selling point of the new S series phones!!!
Although the S Pen did not change, did you find it more useful for some of the newer "AI" procedures such as photo edit, circle to search and text highlighting? Do those procedures work better with more pointing precision, and a pointy pen is better than a big finger?
Gone for the S24+ upgrade after watching this video Mike, I am an S22Ultra user and not using my S-pen anymore so it made sense. The features of the S24+ swung it for me, looking forward to getting it next month.
I tried the A55 camera instore today and also took pics with my s24+ and I'm super impressed! The clarity is much better and not as grainy and no blurry edges! I'm returning my S24+ asap!
An annoyance for me is the lack of an SD card slot , checking prices here in Australia there is a $200 extra cost on each variant to go from 256 GB to 512 , that is a rip-off and the obvious reason for having no slot .
Agreed! I miss the SD slot. I bought an adapter to transfer to an SD card from Temu. Btw, Telstra is having a sale until 23 September 2024. $300 off the S24 and S24+ (either outright or on a repayment plan) and the S24 ultra is $300 off outright or $500 off on a repayment plan.
I just don't find it difficult to get the smallest storage size and storing all videos and photos on my PC when the phone starts to fill up, which takes a long time to do with 128 gb anyway
Speaking as someone who sometimes has to carry his phone in machine shops and construction sites, the square edges on the S24 ultra bother me. Seems like a great place to concentrate force when it's dropped. But, if you put it in a case it probably would be OK.
My experience with the S24+ upgraded from S22+ is that it is noticeably faster in absolutely every function. The facial and fingerprint recognition are much quicker, more responsive scrolling, etc. I don't ever feel like I'm waiting on the phone like I was with the S22+. So far I'm pretty excited about the S24+
Just got my S23 Ultra violet. The edges does not really affect me since it does not even touch my palm. I guess it depends on your hand and how you hold your phone. So far, so good. No bugs or glitches. I also purchased the anti-reflection screen protector from Samsung to retain the Gorilla Armors anti-reflect feature.
I use an iPhone 12 Pro Max and am quite interested in the 24 Ultra but I'm worried about the edges being an issue. Live the design and all but that's what I'm really concerned about
I wasnt even planning on upgrading but ended up seeing the deal on the samsung website. Trading in my 22Ultra and paying $350 for the 24 plus. Cant beat it. Tired of buying stupid expensive phones so gonna keep the 24 plus and change over to prepaid for good. Screw contracts.
I'm upgrading my phone in a few dais, and this video has been perfect - exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for such an in depth look at stuff ai'm actually likely to use :)
Wow! The most thorough presentation ever! Clear and Concise. You cover the points of general interest in detail and offer your personal opinion based your objective need. A+
I been using my s9 for the past 5 years. Recently its been giving me problems like my earpiece sounds very low and i run low on battery constantly. I think its time for me to upgrade to the S24.
My S9 + earpiece also went low a few months ago. Then my keyboard started acting up and not responding to the first few taps and not auto disappearing.
We picked up our Ultra and Plus last night. I've come from the Pixel 8 Pro and the S24 ultra has already blown ms away. It's absolutely superb. Our S24 Plus doesn't have the Snapdragon through sadly (why is that?)
International model comes with exynos. How's it's battery and heating? Curious because in Australia we get that model too and I'm just waiting for my order.
Hmm, I was really looking into google phones for this next upgrade. I am highly hesitant on Google phones for several reasons due to some mixed reviews, but almost pulled the trigger. Is there any reason you like the Samsung over Pixel 8 Pro? Kind of weird you were so fast to switch when both phones came out within a month or two of each other and you already returned one..
@@kerrydaniels8460 I can upgrade every 90 days (O2 network in the UK 😎👍) I've had Samsung forever, so thought a change would be good. I just didn't get on with Google. It's much the same, just different quirks.
@@bigarmydave Not trying to be annoying, but what made you not get on with Google specifically over samsung. You follow by saying it's much the same, but if that's the case it sounds like it was enough of a difference to make you immediately switch back. So anything in particular?
I have the s24 regular and I love it. I have small hands and it's even a tiny bit big for me. I came from the iPhone 13 mini and so it's a step up as far as size. The features and cameras are exactly what I needed!
Definitely a good comparision. For the battery test, you should note that both Ultra and Plus can be extended if you use FHD res. To make it more comparable use same resolution next. Your comparing the phones itself, so it should be "comparable". It might be possible that with the same resolution the Ultra and Plus still doesn't perform well enough. Just make sure to eliminate other variables. For the next video, I think the S23 Ultra vs S24 Ultra would really be a good one. This is in the perspective of buying from a previous generation of phones of course. S24 Ultra seem less compelling, because of it's just generally 23 with AI. With the lower price of the 23 Ultra and mostly the same specs, it is still good for people upgrading from previous generations.
This was a great comparison. I tend to hold out on upgrading until I almost feel forced. I have thr S21 and it's no longer charging properly so it's plugged in throughout the day. You've helped me narrow it down to the + and Ultra. I'll be going to the store to get a feel for them both in ky hands.
I had a screenshot of a shipping label and using the circle to search function on the tracking number it automatically copies and loads it into tracking on Google. It even knew that it was specifically fedex. Very cool.
What about the phone warming up? It's always been Samsung's greatest flaw. I got s22 ultra and on the 1.5 year mark it started warming up like crazy. My s20 and even s3 back in the day were the same....
I have felt the 24 Ultra warming up some, but I have a case on it so it's not too bad. I got my son the newest Fold and I really enjoyed that in my hand, haven't noticed an issue with it getting warm. It's light and works great. Has a cute feature on the front and you can get more cases for it now then you could when they first came out.
My solution for the s22u since it's so power-hungry, i turned on Cpu limiter 70% ,and everything is so balanced now & even in ultra graphics games. Gotta adapt to 60hz again. I'm inlove with my s22 again. Curved screens are a dying breed. Also got the s24+but goes back to s22u for s-pen.
I own the S24 Ultra... been an Ultra user since the original note days. With that said, The regular variants of any S series are more than enough. Nobody really needs a $1.3k phone.
I wanted the ultra until i held it, it looks redicilous with that square design. My co worker who has the ultra 24 says its not worth it and he regrets getting it and that he couldnt feel a difference to the regular s24+ BUT when you take a picture youre amazed ny the picture quality He said "i paid $1800 for a amazing camera, so its great when i take pictures i dont care about"
Really great video. I'm reassured that my S24 purchase is the correct one, especially coming from a S10+. I don't want a large phone and I won't use the extra features on the S24 Ultra.
We have the 512GB version of Galaxy S24 in Thailand. I just purchased it (512GB) for $868 USD with the double capacity upgrade as part of the pre-order promotion. We are also receiving the new Exynos chip. In the past, this chip had a tendency to get hot, which could lead to throttling issues. Some S20 models even experienced screen burn due to overheating problems. I hope the performance improves this year.
I am using S20 Plus Snapdragon version which I bought from an import shop so I have no problem. The device is working fine as of today. I am in a Samsung Galaxy facebook group in Thailand, that is how I learned about the complaints. @@meqdadfn
Even though 7 months old for a review, this was the bets video I've seen on reviews for the S24 lineup after watching at least 6 - and I have to say, my upgrade from my iPhone 13 will be for the 24+ or even the Ultra - excellent vid! Subscribed.
@PunkyBrewsta 4gb more memory? What are you going to do with that? Display is worse, colours are off due to that coating I guess. Compared it with my S21 display before I sent my s24U back and the display on s21 is better. Waterfalls will look grey and mushy for example. Main camera is better on s21 daylight. And I did not notice any difference with processor.
Idk why Samsung likes to nip at the heels of the base S model so much. It seems like year after year it's slowly just becoming a worse phone comparatively just to upsell the more expensive models. Like why would you ever omit the ultrawide band? The S series should be the flagships, there shouldn't be such a discrepancy between them. I also feel like the S24 base could have like 200-400 mAh more than it currently does as well as faster charging. None of these are particularly dealbreakers, but it's annoying to see on Samsung's side where iPhone treats the Pro roughly the same as the Pro Max, although recently that's changed too. Just annoying to have to roll my eyes so much at the small things they take away from the base model just to upsell you to the more expensive ones. I doubt it'll get any better, either.
People that are smart are the ones who dont fall for these money making schemes with these smartphone companies. The cost of living is already overwealming considering inflation. Ask yourself if it makes sense to you to really spend over $1000 on a cellphone? For what? To take better pictures? To browse the internet? Just to play higher quality games? Nah, I have a decent laptop and tablet at home already doing that. 😂 .... besides, I need a new washing machine, microwave and a new stove. $1300 on such a small gadget is a waste of money. Especially when dropped and smashed, stolen or lost. I hope the same $1300 price also insures the phone to be replaced. Likely *NOT* ... so it is indeed a waste of money
I am very impressed, after being an iPhone fan lady for 10+ years, with just what a superior experience the Samsung Galaxy S24 phone gives in a size that fits comfortably. It's nice to be back to an Android.
Really not a stylus guy and that seems to be the only separation between the plus and the ultra that matters, so this helped me make that decision. Thanks!
I was also gonna pick the S24 version, but Exynos chipset stopped me doing it. I will probably go for the S24 Ultra version, definately in Violet colour.
Excellent review, probably the best one out there. I got no use for the s-pen, and not going to take any photos of the moon, so the S24+ is my phone of choice.
That anti-reflection is insane! Edit: I prefer the look of the aluminum as well. I might go for the 24+. The fact that they brought back 2k displays to a model lower than the Ultra is dope in my opinion.
Being an Ultra user I actually want to go back to smaller phones and the better brightness of the new generation would be a big plus when being outside, but the anti-reflection is an even better improvement. I guess now I need to wait for the S25 getting that anti-reflection as well.
I've never understood the push for anti glare on beautiful oled displays. The screen is lovely, but side by side with my far far cheaper poco f3, the colour is muted. The ultra clearly has far greater dynamic range but looks washed out when doing a side by side. Probably wouldn't notice this in everyday use but I will everytime I watch a movie or play a game or take a photo. This is the one point that has me on the fence keeping the ultra. I also not sure what 2600 nits is doing for me compared to 1600 on the poco. Is this due to the anti glare?
Thx for the nice work with this review. Really well done. Plus the Pitaka case is one of most beautiful and looks really good protection. Best Regards From Brazil
How is the battery for the S24 vs the S23 both with snapdragon chips? Also, what color phone were you using in this video for the S24? It looks white. Were you using the grey color?
Do you not have the option to put photos/videos on a hard drive or cloud when it starts to get full? Just feels like an easy way to save a bunch of money
I pre-ordered the plus as well based on so many reviewers :( base model is perfect small phone size except for the small 8gb/256 max. I want it to last as long as possible so that is why I went to plus. I hope I didn't make a mistake because I DO have smaller hands.
Hey Mike, been watching for a few years now and glad you're still doing good. I've had my S21 since 2021 and thinking of upgrading to the S24 plus but paranoid that next years phones will just be better and its not worth it right now. What do you think? Keep up the great videos!
I dont think you will be missing out much by not waiting for s25, every year its minor upgrades either way. One big improvement is battery life which really got good with the s23 series.
I have my A55 since August, and it's a nice phone. Battery is good, good pictures, even performance- but sometimes the phones gets laggy with only 2 apps open, so I want to get the S24+ (I was surprised to see that the Plus is actually a little smaller than the A55, yet it has a little bit bigger screen)

one thing abouit the ultra glass - according to a first test that i saw
the glass scratches at a lvl 7 - with deeper groves at a level 8 .. which is a HUGE step towards sapphire or even a transparent aluminium display hardness. No more micro abrasions. For me, this is a clear winner and a huge argument for the ultra

I seriously thinking about doing the same.
@israelruelas5756 best decision I made. Got tired of paying $150 for one line lol now I have verizon pre paid $60/month.
I'm still running my s9+ and it still works great. Upgrading to the s24 plus.
so do I
My S9 + earpiece also went low a few months ago.
@@Brisingrr_ It's absolutely fine buddy. Battery life has been very good 😊
Hmm, I was really looking into google phones for this next upgrade.
Pre ordered the base s24 256gb onyx black! Great review
Thanks for the excellent review! Special thanks for that explanation of the UWB and its function! 🙌👍
Jeez dude where do you live, Silent Hill? Those pics are spooky, lol
+ is for more battery
U is for those extra cameras and the pen and some other stuff.
Nobody really needs a $1.3k phone.
i am happily spending 1k for a 10% improvement..
I wanted the ultra until i held it, it looks redicilous with that square design.
My co worker who has the ultra 24 says its not worth it and he regrets getting it and that he couldnt feel a difference to the regular s24+
BUT when you take a picture youre amazed ny the picture quality
He said "i paid $1800 for a amazing camera, so its great when i take pictures i dont care about"
It's crazy cause I just bought the s24u for $850 brand new.
Really great video. I'm reassured that my S24 purchase is the correct one, especially coming from a S10+. I don't want a large phone and I won't use the extra features on the S24 Ultra.
Really great video. I love your approach to everything and you gave very solid information. Thank you

@@meqdadfn
The S24 that I am ordering will arrive at the end of this month. So, I haven't had a chance to try it yet.@@meqdadfn
I thought Samsung ditched Exynos for Snapdragon. I prefer snapdragon much more.
@@apegrasshoplizardYeah, Exynos returns this year. The device is warm all the time but performance wise it is ok.
Thank you for this amazing review Mike! Just ordered myself a S24+, can't wait to get my hands on it
How is it?
Even though 7 months old for a review, this was the bets video I've seen on reviews for the S24 lineup after watching at least 6 - and I have to say, my upgrade from my iPhone 13 will be for the 24+ or even the Ultra - excellent vid! Subscribed.
7 years of support is insane
I can get this phone next year for a 50% reduction in price with 6 years left.
I'm still hanging on to my S10 mind you
Just ordered the S24 Plus! Upgrading from S22 Ultra.
Congrats no difference
@@yamahass66 oh, I don't believe that. 4 GB more of memory, better display, battery and processor!
@@yamahass66you said "no difference" and then proceeded to list all the things you found different 🙃

Great effort! Thanks for the review! 🙏🏼
Thanks!
Speakers, are better on the ultra, so is the camera and has anti reflective. Battery is slightly better.
Cameras, if that matters to you
I was also gonna pick the S24 version, but Exynos chipset stopped me doing it. I will probably go for the S24 Ultra version, definately in Violet colour.
I got a s24 and returned it within a week, it was loaggy and overheated constantly. Got the s23 in the end because of the shit exynos chip.
I'm just going to wait a couple years until the Ultra is 4-500$.
@@Dreadpirateflappy I've bought Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and started using it from 1st of March - delighted.
The only downside is the price itself.
Love your reviews. Clean and to the point.
Very straightforward video- great stuff!!
One the best comparison vidoes I've ever seen. Good job!
Excellent review, probably the best one out there.
I got no use for the s-pen, and not going to take any photos of the moon, so the S24+ is my phone of choice.
Same logic except hoping Exynos doesn't disappoint. Don't have a choice in Australia
Muted colors are a bug.
@@Voltar78 Whilst it does look like it, I'll reserve judgement until the first day patch.
Were you using the grey color?
regular S24 is perfect if it had 512gb storage but because only S24 plus and S24 Ultra only have that option I'm leaning towards the S24 Plus.
Regular s24 start 256gb with 512gb upgrade in our country. Not sure some are saying its only available in 128 and 256gb
@@mcfrossxplorect8249 In the US it's only showing available of up to 256gb on the S24.
In Australia the regular S24 does have a 512GB option.
You'll love it, got mine yesterday. Got it rather cheap as well, couldnt be happier atm. 😁
Just stick a pop socket on the back?
