  • We take a look at the Himo Mini Electric Bike. It's the smallest e-bike I've ever seen, and extremely compact and portable. This mini e-bike would be perfect for a last mile commuting solution. It folds down into a super tiny square, and you could leave it under your desk, next to you, or in a bag. Take a look at our ride footage and our thoughts on this tiny vehicle.

    Calling scooters (with no pedals) moPEDs is stupid enough... e-moped is a pet peeve too as MO refers to a MOTOR which IS electric. But calling a glorified stand up (but with a crappy seat) scooter a BICYCLE (that has no pedals or a place to put even a fake pair?) I've never heard of an Enginecycle though so I guess nothing has to make sense... Like walking the last mile and leaving this thing in the toyroom where it belongs.

    EDIT: Oh boy it keeps folding and folding! But honestly with 6 inch solid tires and poor regen braking it seems like a bit of a deathtrap to me in day to day aituations. Maybe it's better for indoor use...as far as it goes for ultra portable vehicles I'd much rather go with a GotWay Mten3, Evolve Stoke or even OneWheel Pint. Removable battery is a cool addition but i think I'd carry the whole thing anywhere anyways. Awesome review as usual! Keep it up & stay safe!

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the video! I love the variety of PEVs that are available and that you cover. I also really enjoy recognizing almost all the areas you ride around in and around San Francisco. If a PEV can handle San Francisco it should be able to handle most urban environments. I don't think anyone else would have reviewed this thing. Personally this is definitely not for me but may work for someone who can't stand-up for very long or lacks basic balance. I would rather get around on one of those old school hoverboards and they are lighter. I never really enjoyed those hoverboards and would never have been a serious commuting option. At that weight and size I would rather have a Gotway MTen3 mini-EUC or pick-up a used Onewheel Pint. There are also those really under-powered but highly portable folding scooters that were kinda popular a few years back. The only thing holding me back from getting the Gotway is the lack of miles on my Onewheel XR. My scooters get all my PEV miles so adding an EUC may not be the best thing for me. I just want to have the single wheel PEV covered by having an EUC.

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, just fun to try different things and work with different manufacturers. The Mten 3 is a really awesome EUC for sure, it's hard to beat the portability of that, but something like a scooter, or this Himo, is going to be a lot easier for some folks like you said.
      Hope you can add a GotWay EUC to your stable soon.

    Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

    Even though you look funny as hell on it I say the more options out there the better. I wonder how this virus is going to affect these last mile e-devices. If it gets you to work and back home that's great but a lot of people purchase the cheaper Last Mile scooter for getting to the bus, train to get to work. Personally I wouldn't take public transportation with what's going on now. A lot of people say that's just being paranoid and that the mortality rate is low with this virus. But being sick is still being sick and that totally sucks! 👍✌

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, maybe I had on too much gear for this lil bike. The virus is crazy right now for sure, some impact to distributors getting stock, but I assume that will be fixed soon. It is interesting that many people won't want to take trains/busses for a while, so I wonder if that means people are going to be looking at more high end PEVs, ones they can ride all the way to work. Stay safe out there...

    This is a helpful review, thanks. I like that this can be stored in something as small as a backpack but wonder how truly helpful this would be to an urban commuter. Who wants to lug 30lbs on the subway then unfold and mount for a few blocks in what would have to be great weather to safely ride this device.
    I also fear that this device isn’t yet legal in my jurisdiction. It looks cool though - this unpacking and review was really helpful. Wish I could try it out!

      @@AlienRides I haven't been able to get this scooter off my mind. And, now seeing so many folks out with their scooters I'm tempted to treat myself... My main issue is usability year-round - I live in NYC and refuse to leave a PEV outside and hate lugging big gear on the train so I love this scooter for the portability. Is this terribly uncomfy for 5-10 min rides around town? Do you think it'd tolerate a bit of drizzling or is this solely dry condition, in your opinion? I loved this thing when I first saw it. Then I saw the videos and the images. I then paid for the premium on Indigogo. From then they do not communicate when you email them and although they state delivery by July 2020 it is now February 2021. I think these guys are just scammers using money from supporters like me for who knows what? This is a cool gadget but the company is a rip-off. Don't waste your money till it is in a bike shop!

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oof, I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the crowd funding campaign. Can't help but feel a little guilty after making a video if they don't deliver. I'm hoping you get it in the near future.

    • @superbmediacontentcreator
      @superbmediacontentcreator 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AlienRides Yes, it would seem that the only actual bikes they have delivered were reviewer samples as I have heard from others that they have not delivered to them either. There seems to be a retail product called "Transformers" which makes the whole thing quite confusing. The other thing was I could not find a source for a replacement battery or parts so it just seems a bit weird.

    • @superbmediacontentcreator
      @superbmediacontentcreator 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlienRides Don't feel guilty, the idea is terrific, and frankly "I bit" the company is just a scam though, and from what I am told they "took" a ton of people. They held on to deposits and orders until they CC companies and so forth could not "clawback" the funds.
      What I have learned from the "Fund Me" sites is that service and parts after (even) delivery on a mechanical and/or electrical device is problematic and frequently blinds those that invest in a product as there is nothing to back up the sale.

    Unfortunately, this isn't street legal in any US state that I know of. It if had pedals, it possibly could be an "electric bicycle, but it doesn't, so that's out. I know Oregon would classify this as a "moped", which means it MUST have fenders, turn signals, a permanently lit headlamp, and an illuminated license plate holder. This bike doesn't have those things, so it's not street legal. Moped riders must have a driver's license, must register the moped, must carry insurance on it, and must wear a DOT approved motorcycle helmet. AFAIK, every US state has similar laws to Oregon. A two-wheeled electric bike with no pedals has to meet moped standards or it isn't street legal.

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point, but I believe it depends on where you live. For example here these are considered electric boards, basically electric scooters and legal to ride in the street.

    • @sbunny8
      @sbunny8 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AlienRides I'm curious where you mean when you say "here". I live in Oregon, where electric scooters (like the Razor E300) are only street legal in a very narrow set of circumstances. First, you have to be on a street where the posted speed limit is 25 MPH or less. Second, the scooter must be 1000W or less *and* have a top speed of 24 MPH or less. Third, while riding it you must keep your speed below 15 MPH. Fourth, they are never permitted on public sidewalks, and many Oregon cities (including the two largest cities, Portland and Eugene) prohibit them on bike paths as well. Fifth, the rider must be over 16 and "eligible" for a driver's license (which means if your license was taken away for DUIs, you can't ride an electric scooter). Even if this scooter meets the
