@@mikefewkes2172 I don’t disagree, but human life is priority. And it’s the instructor’s responsibility to not only test the individual, but to protect the lives of others in the process. She can (and should) deduct points for not being totally aware, but it is also her responsibility to ensure safe operation of the vehicle outside of explicit analysis. I’m not saying you’re wrong. Driving tests are done with new drivers who only have to study policy before taking the test, and it used to be that they would use the driving school cars assuming the testing party didn’t have one available for them to acquire a license. Besides, as a new driver, there will be new experiences had in the test not necessarily available to you when practicing with a parent, like coming up on a crosswalk or practicing around actual pedestrians. Yes you evaluate the student, but you proactively make sure they’re not about to potentially kill someone, themselves, or even you. If she was a regular passenger, I’d hope she’d be smart enough to speak up in a similar scenario. Which brings up another point, wouldn’t you also tell someone WITH A LICENSE the EXACT same thing? If someone is potentially unaware or partially distracted, I would speak up proactively. It doesn’t matter the situation or environment or the driver’s skill level.
Does everyone stop for people standing at the edge of the road? Maybe the crosswalk should be longer. Like start before the road. The law is to stop when a pedestrian is at a crosswalk. Define where the crosswalk is? If theres not a stripe on it, its not a crosswalk. They can wait for the car to pass. They don’t have inertia, they don’t pay for my gas. Im not stopping unless i can see they will end up in front me. Idgaf. I will drive inches from you. Law be damned. I don’t care. Y’all should realize that before you expect someone to stop for you. Same with bikers who ride the same direction as the cars. Like what are you doing? Ur going 40 miles slower, if you get tapped because someone doesn’t gaf, that’s totally on you. You are responsible for you! You cannot expect others to do it for you. That’s dangerous. As far as the crosswalk goes, there isn’t even a sing to indicate where the crosswalk begins and ends. They got a pole, means nothing. Could have a light on it. Why not? The city doesn’t care? Why should drivers?

This is the issue with car design being based on the average male body. The air bags, seat position, and instruments are designed for men. Most women can’t sit in the optimal position as we can’t reach. Unfortunately it leads to women experiencing more injuries and having a lower survival rate in accidents. Do your guys pedestrian things not have lights. it seems really dangerous to just have to look at the sidewalk the entire time you’re driving. In Canada, ours has lights and symbols and sound, although sometimes it actually yells at you, which is a bit scary because you don’t expect the machine to yell at you. it’s also really weird that the signs are black and white the two colours you can’t see properly when you’re moving fast. The sign should be like a neon, yellow and green so you can see it or red and yellow/white.
Are the extremely obvious orange beacons, striped poles and road markings that start not enough? You may not recognise them, but in the UK you are not going pass if you don't know what they mean. We do also have light controlled crossings, but for most places with low traffic, they aren't necessary.
@@memkiii the yellow balls on top just look like a yellow lamp. And the 2-3 foot yellow signs are quite small. I would think it would be hard to see them in a truck/tall vehicle. Also no need to be rude over some questions. If you didn’t want to answer them nicely then move on please. The posts from a distance in the video kinda just looks like a floating yellow ball.
Scrolled way too far for your comment. Pedestrian shouldn't just cross without stopping. And there should be a flashing signal when they are if they aren't going to stop traffic for them. This setup is just ridiculous, the learner isn't really at fault here. Slamming on your breaks like that for ever pedestrian near a crosswalk is a pretty bad idea.
Basically you've just told us you won't be able to drive in europe. Your expected to look at the footpath too. Not all crossings have a flashing orange ball either. Your expected to read the road conditions on both sides and monitor footpaths.

My bad, makes comment obsolete! @AllMenMustServe I think it's actually the other way around - the footwell cam shows the instructor moving from toe on the accelerator to cover the brake pedal, and whilst the brake pedal is used we can see the clutch has depressed. That means the clutch on the driver's side must be depressed. I get the feeling the driver had started to brake, but wasn't braking anywhere near quick enough for what was needed - hence the clutch depressing, but instructor still having to use the brake. :)

I did very well on my test, and I still drive how I was taught by him. Can sometimes hear him tell me to lift my foot from the gas, to check my mirrors, put on my blinker, change gear, slow down, change gear again, do another check in mirrors and blindspots, and turn. A teacher who doesn't share their knowledge, isn't teaching anything, so unless this is an exam, that young lady, didn't really gain much information from what happened here.
Lol nah this would be a "serious fault". i.e. instant fail. The thing is they always finish the test route in silence. That's just how driving tests work in the UK. You could get a serious fault within your first 5 minutes of the test, but they won't tell you and you're still expected to finish the test even though you've already failed it. And, realistically, if it's a serious fault then you should probably know about it without being told. Like if they have to slam the brakes on with dual control, that's pretty obvious.

You can see them from a distance of course. The poles are stripped black and white not very eye grabbing colours. in Canada ours are red and white or yellow and black so they catch your eye.
