I saw king kong in the third grade and the walkway to the local cinema always had this giant statue from the 30s movie so it blew my mind that there was a new one, its crazy how pj recreated the same magic that inspired another genaration of film makers
A classic example of critics, and movie buffs, walking into this remake, already deciding it wont match the original, and disliking it in advance. I loved Peter Jackson's new interpretation (more inspired by a large format graphic novel a couple of decades earlier) than the classic 30's film version. I agree, a classic which will become more appreciated and understood with time. 10 out of 10. (Try and watch the stunning extended cut) Michael - South Africa
Oh dear. Do we really have to go STRAIGHT to the bottom of the barrel? Lol I actually saw that movie for the first time pretty recently. It was gloriously campy for the first 30 minutes and then it got pretty tired after that.
Okay. So after watching your review, I am now actually convinced I should watch the movie. Like, wow. What an excellent distillation of it’s core theme and elements. So cool. 🙌🙌
Agreed & well said. I think it's a masterpiece. As good as the Island part is I actually like the first half & ending more, all the NY stuff. Its so well done you feel sorry for Kong even though he murders like 40+/- people in the movie.
I would like to listen to you talking about EVERY movie I know. Maybe I would disagree sometimes, but I would always enjoy your point of view. Did you ask for a suggestion of BAD movies? How about Moulin Rouge with Nicole Kidman?
It's funny, I have some cousins who wouldn't stop recommending that movie back in the early 2000's. I've never seen it. And Baz Luhrmann is something else, that's for sure. I'll see if I can get my hands on a copy.

Thanks for watching!
Great review, well deserved 10/10 its one of the few films that I have watched over 50 times, easily
King Kong 2005 is a masterpiece
Good stuff mate, the idea of the rythm of the film kind of chugging you along to Skull Island is an interesting one
I'm convinced it was intentional anyway
There's this bad movie called Batman & Robin, it's pretty chill

It's easy to like the NY stuff more just because it's not as brutal! That whole Skull Island portion . . . phew.

Watch the movie Mack and Me!
Oh, man. I've definitely heard of this monstrosity. Do you have a copy?
@@BigShotCritic yes on Plex, otherwise it is “free” (with ads) on Tubi and Pluto TV
Bruh nobody should have to watch Mack & Me not even for a monetized video.
