    A lot of people see intuitive eating as eating whatever you want whenever you want, without regard to health or nutrition. However, that isn't very accurate. I want to show you how balanced eating and intuitive eating can actually come together!

    This is probably the most actually useful video on how to intuitively eat. It's instructional and gives options, when other people seem to talk around it & tell us why they can eat scorched almonds every day or something unrelatable.
    EDIT: Omg I typed my comment halfway through and you gave SOOOO much info in the latter half! This is absolutely hands down a most superior video on IE.
    I've never understood it this has blown my mind. This is so helpful! It's literally a "how to eat intuitively" vid, & not some rambling frolic through a personal story that promises the goods & doesn't deliver like every other vid I've seen.
    Your channel is so value packed, you have my trust ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    Yes please do a video about gentle nutrition. I have recently bought the Intuitive Eating 4th edition book. I am finally convinced that dieting doesn't work and I'm ready to give up dieting forever. But I have learned a lot about nutrition and the health benefits of a whole foods plant based diet and want to be as healthy as possible. I need to know everything I can about gentle nutrition so I can eat healthily without feeling deprived.

    I've been making big patches of a sort of curry, with butternut squash, mushrooms, onions and chickpeas, its sooo tastey and feels much more healthier to make from scratch in the slow cooker and I can freeze portions so it lasts 🥰 love your videos, they are really inspiring to me :)

    This video was so helpful! Breaking down what is meant by intuitive eating and giving examples of selecting from categories of foods, while still honouring what you want to eat feels very do-able.😃 (All this time I thought intuitive eating literally meant eat whatever you want)…but the way you’ve explained it I understand the concept now.🍝 Thank you!

    Thank you! I've started diving into intuitive eating after gaining lots of weight and struggling to stay on diets. Whenever I count calories or diet I go to the extreme and start restricting too heavily so I stop because I know I'm heading into a super unhealthy food mindset. Intuitive eating made logical sense to me but I just dont fully understand how to eat healthy as I didn't grow up being shown how to. I felt like you could only have success with intuitive eating if you had no food issues to begin with or if you ate like too healthy in the past. You are really helping me learn how to do it!

    I have been doing intuitive eating after restricting a lot for a few months, at the beggining i ate mostly junk foods, now i have been doing IE for 2 months and now im starting to crave more fruit and more "healthy" stuff, is this common?

      That is absolutely normal and it's a positive sign! After restricting for a while your body sometimes needs to compensate and you crave a lot of foods that used to be forbidden. Once you start getting over that phase, you will start craving more foods that make your body feel good and honor your health. Keep it up!

    Great video. I've been reading your blog too, and it's been really helpful.
    I struggle with portion control and have really strong sugar cravings. I sometimes feel like for every step I take forward, I take two backward. My day, owing to the nature of work involves a lot of sitting and that makes me feel even more hungry then when I'm active all through the day
    Any advice on this?

    Like they do in the 'Blue Zones' - In places like Ikaria people don't count calories or nutrients, they know what works for them and they follow that, and they eat healthy and live longer than everyone else in the world, I think it's in us all to know what to eat and when to eat, we just need to tap into it! Constantly using technology, hectic lifestyles and the likes confuse the body, we forget that food is meant to heal, nourish and fuel us, thankfully there are people like Lucie that help us remember these things! And I'd definitely advise everyone to look up the 'Blue Zones' for tips how to eat more intuitively, it definitely was of help to me!

    This was super helpful. The information on the venn diagram of indulgence, intuitive healthy eating, and healthy eating. What is that exactly about healthy eating? When you eat for health does that mean your eating extremely healthy without completely enjoying the foods/meals? How do you know those foods or meals are good for you individually?

      Glad you found it helpful! No it means you can incorporate an ingredient that's not your favorite because you know that it has nutritional benefits. It should never be something you hate! For a lot of people it's vegetables, for instance :)

    Have you heard of the Weston Price approach to nutrition? You eat a wide range of foods (lots of fatty meat, fruit, vegetables, grains) but only the highest quality and organic. It is based on the idea the decline in food quality is responsible for modern day health problems (pesticides etc) instead of a macronutrient being the cause.

      Weston Price sounds like less restrictive paleo diet with grains and legumes... Pretty good healthwise (even though I'm skeptical about all the fat) but I don't like this demonizing of modern day foods and these exaggerated claims on the dangers of pesticides.

    I lost 2.5 kgs in 2 months doing intuitive eating working but yea my activity level were on a higher side, ate lot of sweets for first 2 weeks but afterwards cravings were kind of moderate.

    You remind of young Uma Thurman. 😍Love your videos. I have one question: I am never hungry in the morning, but I eat something anyway because everyone says that breakfast is the most important meal. Should I eat in the morning even though I am not hungry?

      I've never gotten that haha!! Thank you! No, you shouldn't force yourself to eat if you aren't hungry- maybe you can try taking a little snack to go in case you were to be hungry before lunch!

    Hi Lucie! I have a question, I am in recovery from an ED and everything is perfect, my hunger cues are good, when I am hungry I eat when I’m not I listen to my cravings, I feel much better around food but in the last couple of months I realized that food isn’t satisfying anymore and I tell you I overcome my fear foods I stopped comparing foods as good and bad, I don’t have that “desire” to go back to my ED but is so frustrating that I am not excited to eat a meal, I only see food as a thing that I need for surviving. I don’t feel good if a meal isn’t satisfying and most of them are just “meh good flavour but not awesome” I eat it in order to fuel myself and I really need some excitement. Can you give me an advice on what to do if any kind of food( i mean even pizza, pasta, salats, chocolate, ice cream, watermelon, apple) isn’t satisfying anymore?

    I’ve heard that you should not have carbs on their own? As it apparently spikes your blood sugar more than if you had it with protein. What’s your take on this? Thanks!

      Combining protein with carbs is a good idea because it will slow down the sugar absoption rate and keep you fuller for longer. However, having carbs on their own is totally fine as well!

    50% veg/25% carbs/25% protein - this is totally wrong
    1. The plate you advocate does not contain fat. Fat is absolutely essential - and you will die without it. You need it to build cells, hormones, neurotransmitters, and absorb vitamin A, D, E and K2.
    usually 1-1.5 g/kg body weight per day fat is sufficient. Saturated animal fat (best) > unsaturated animal fat > saturated plant fat >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>unsaturated plant fat (toxic).
    2. 25% carbs - no requirement for external source of sugar/carbs at all due to gluconeogenesis. Most of your cells can undergo oxidative phsophorylation to turn fatty acids into ATP. Cells incapable of oxidative phosphorylation and which must run on sugar, can obtain sugar on demand through gluconeogenesis. Your body can run entirely on fat as energy and it is a vastly superior source to carbs (fat does not spike insulin, does not glycate cell structures)
    3. Protein - usually 1-1.5 g/kg body weigh per day. No benefit beyond 2 g/kg body weight per day. It is not safe to exceed 3.5 g/kg body weight per day. Plant protein is poorly absorbed due to presence of trypsin inhibitors (toxin that stops your enzymes breaking protein into amino acids)

      A lot of her advice is based on old food pyramid guidelines (lots of fruit and veg, high carb low fat) - this is what made us ill.
