Exactly! Nothing looks better than a well cared for HD in vivid black paint and chrome bike (Harley does a good job with both) . But you talk about high maintenance!! THX for the info on F11.
Hey, this was my first attempt at detailing. The video helped me greatly. I followed the steps as laid out. It worked. The only problem I ran into was the polishing pads. Didn't realize they are different grit.
Yes in the links I provided on this video I marked them as Medium and Finishing pads. Usually anything blue is a mediun pad and is a great place to start if you are really doing any kind of paint correction and the blacks are always finishing ...now that may vary between brands but 98% of the time its the same across brands.
Simply the best place to get the help that I need. I like to ride but I like to keep my bike the best it can be. Thanks for all the tips and information you give by the pros.
I definitely picked up a few steps I have missed over the years. Just glad you break these videos down to each step and make it simple to follow. Thanks brother keep ‘‘em coming! Be safe
The 19 RGS in wicked denim red & blacked out engine with blacked wheels. Just a straight quick pressure wash & dry. Most perfect Harley color on the planet, thx again Harley, I just hit 29k, did my 30k service at 28.5k. Ride em!!!
Thanks for this video. I just got a new bike and I want to keep it looking new as long as I can. That said, I ride in the rain. And I ride on gravel. And live in a farming community. So my vivid black flht is gonna show a lot!
Kept every bike I had looking like showroom new, rain or shine. It pays off in several ways. If and when you sell it or Trade it in. It always looks nice. And it doesn't hurt when others see your bike and they are looking at it admiring it or compliment you on how clean it is. Had 7 bikes in my younger days. I'm 69 yrs old and on my 5th Harley. A 2023 RG3. Keep the shiney side up. Peace out.
congrats on your new RG3...that is awesome! Those things are bad ass! And yes I agree...keeping them clean and serviced is great way to protect your investment.
Great video Steve. I appreciate this as it allows me to actually see the painstaking steps it takes to do a great detail. You made this bike look absolutely great. Now comparing this to my trike that you detailed, absolutely amazing! The trike had so much haze on it, it was embarrassing, but you brought it to life, just like you have done here. I thank you for that. Thanks for this videos, it’s a great help for guys like myself!
@@sikbaggers I’m already subscribed to the Blacktop Devil and Mrs. Blacktop Devil, but they recently changed their channel name to Life on the Blacktop(I think)!
Glad you mentioned the clay bar, was just about to paint correct my street glide and oh snap forgot to de-contaminate before hand. Thanks brother for another good informative video 👍
Hey man, just want to thank you for this video, I've never used a machine polisher b4, but used the last cut (was amazing) and chemical guys mirror shine and torque mirror shine, hog spit. Anyways, how you explained the entire process was very informative and made a lot of sense for a beginner. I'm glad I found your video, the bike looks amazing now!! Thank you!!!
That's awesome Derk! Thanks for thanking the time to watch the full video..most people skit things and then wonder why their bike didnt turn out the same..lol glad you got it all done and so much easier to maintain now.
Thanks for the video Steve it couldnt have come at a better time we are getting ready to detail our bike and it needs some extra attention so this will help a lot have a great weekend and stay safe out there
My brother can’t believe what some people will do for a buck and what others will do to spend a buck. 20 years ago I didn’t mind cleaning and detailing my bike. But now I can’t stand standing over my bikes for hours and hours detailing them. I wish I knew someone close that would do the job the way I do. I would gladly pay. I think I mentally sike myself out of wanting to do it. It really is a lot of work. Good video bro
detailing other peoples bikes can be very daunting sometimes.... i just think to myself when I start is how the hell did you let it get this far gone?!?! ha...but that's part of the job and we get it done...now detailing my own bike...that's therapy to me...that's my quite time in the shop. no phones ringing, no one busting through the door needing anything...just me and the bike and some tunes in the background...my stress relief.
Nice job brother! I know the video is a year old, but just so others know, that powerlock also works on denim paint without making it shiny. And just like you, I put it on EVERYTHING!!
There may be 100's about cleaning bikes but your video is better than the most! Plus the channel! Keep'em coming big dog because I am a cheap bastard and rather would work on my own bike.
I know this may sound extreme to most, but I use a steamer; McCulloch MC1385; to be exact. Only because the steam helps brings out the dirt and helps to protect the paint. That being said, NO I do not have a show room bike. It has scratches ....gouges from being laid down. I still continue to try and help keep the integrity of the bike. I mean she's still my girl.
I use a very cheap but very strong product called Awesome...you can pick this up at dollar stores and dollar trees.this stuff - www.dollartree.com/las-totally-awesome-all-purpose-concentrated-cleaner-refills-32oz/985190 ..man its good stuff.I use it on everything..wheels, tires, siding, concrete, you name it... Use that and a bore hair brush, amzn.to/347P9yY work it around clean it out with a dry towel and use some compressed air if you have it to blow out loose dirt behind the wires.
Great tips! I do love pig spit on the black motor. It seems to last even after washes and deflects a lot of the Hawaii red dirt. Great product and inexpensive.
love this channel! I was biased at first because of "Baggers" you do have a variety of good content would like to see more M8 softail (Breakout) videos
Thank you Vincent..yeah alot of the videos can be done on other bikes...its hard for me to get some bikes in here to do videos on. I try my best to get as many models in here as i can
Wow! Great video bro! Thank you! Two questions...#1) At the 25:22 mark you apply the Jescar to the bike. What pad are you using there? #2) At the 26:55 mark you apply the Colonite 845 to the bike and use a block type pad...what pad is that one? Thank you sir!!
Thank you Alan...I apply the jescar with the Adams Yellow Hex Grip from here on amazon amzn.to/3Rzlepv and the sqaure ones are the Chemical guys miceofiber applicators. There are cheaper ones on amazon but they dont last or they come vacuum sealed which ruins them. I purchased these on may 4th 2018 and still using them amzn.to/3Tgl3R4 ..I hope that helps!
Excellent detailing video for motorcycles, as a Detailer myself I can't agree more that F11 is way over priced! Would like to say thank you for making this video
Thanks for checking it out Chris! Yeah, once the end user really sees what it is and the fact that you have to keep re applying it (just like wax) it really doesn't make sense to buy it at the cost of printer ink. Clever marketing made them a lot of one time sales.
Thanks Steve my 14 street glide is vivid black all products you have there are great I am a chemical guys guy myself different strokes for different folks keep up the good work i am a fan take care brother
Hey Ben there is a couple of chem guys things I use however I used them back in the day before wal mart and they were great...now that they are at wal mart...they have really watered it down. I have tried soime the new stuff they are putting out and just cant get the results im looking for...however the chrome polish is very good! I do like that. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@sikbaggers nope I hear you my brother luckily over here in Springfield mo they have a chemical guys detail shop where I buy my stuff at your right the stuff at Walmart is watered down alot I noticed it awhile back either way keep up the good work brother I am a fan 4 life thanks for the reply
You sir have gained a sub, and i agree with you. Your bike is an investment, so why not make it look good. Been looking for different products to clean up my new/used bike i bought and your vids have assisted me in finding good products. Thank you
Thanks for the sub! And glad the video helped...some of this stuff is a little pricey when you have to buy it all up front but it lasts a long time...I use these same products on my truck, the wifes car and my sons car..their cars are black and mine is dark blue (might as well be black) shows everything. Any questions just let me know.
Thanks for this, pretty much what I do but some of the tricks and tips and cheaper supplies were helpful. My bike current looks just like yours did and I was told I’d have to go super abrasive or wet sand even, it’s vivid black and just has light swirls and smooth surface scratches all over. Like you said that vivid black is hardcore for showing anything and everything no matter how careful you are. Thanks again!
yes you can get a lot out with these steps and products I used on this bike,...it was in pretty bad shape when it came in...looks like glass now...just some time and attention to detail.
This was great, years ago I was an F11 guy, good shine not much on protection! Appreciate the time you took doing this, great information 👍 Black Top Devil great channel, I believe they changed the name, saw something about that this morning. Think it's called LIFE ON THE BLACK TOP now.. Thanks Again Steve, and belated Happy VETERANS Day
Yes sir...they are changing it up! And its about time he announced it lol Good people! Thanks for checking out the video as well! Take care and ride safe!
Another great video. I have never owned a black Harley but friends do and while it looks great out of the showroom, that is usually as good as it will ever be. I have a 2021 Harley Street Glide in River Rock Grey & 2009 Harley Rocker C in Flame Blue Pearl, i never pressure wash but will wash with dish soap and mitt with garden hose. My 2009 still looks new and yes, i am the guy that washes after every ride even if it is just to get the bugs off, i hate a dirty bike but that just me :)
Yes we clean after after ride too ...just makes it easier to keep it clean. Why not take care of your investment right! Just remember that using dawn strips the waxes everytime. A good ph balanced soap will retain the waxes on your bike.
Saying this was an excellent video doesn't do it justice....I watched every second of this video, then purchased my materials and replicated the process. I'm happy to say that my Victory Hammer turned out excellent!!! Thank you very much for producing a concise video for guys to learn from!!!
Thanks Steve. I need the heavy paint correction video to repair paint scratches when one saddlebag fell off. Absolutely my fault forgetting the washers when I reattached the bag after putting air in the tire.
Thanks for checking it out! Yeah sometimes there is no paint correction that can be done other than re painting...if its really bad I would look into getting them re shot.
Steve I have a question what would u recommend for me? I work 2 jobs and have a couple of hours , a couple of times a week to work on my bike. And of course it’s vivid black after watching this video I was almost sick when I looked at my Street Glide! Can u tell me how I can go about getting her back to beautiful! Thanks Russ
You can definitely get it back into shape with all this info here in this video with the time you have. The trick is keeping it in good shape then your weekly maintenance is very little. To get it back into shape get yourself a buffer and some compound, preferably the Last cut I mentioned in this video. that will get you back in shape quick. Then wax ...preferably that Colonite 845...that stuff lasts a long time and will help you keep that shine...the biggest thing you can do is never, ever wipe your bike with a dry cloth. Ever! Always use a waterless wash or a quick detailer and if its super dirty, spray. let it soak a little bit, spray again and then lightly wipe, flipping your towel over several times and even using more than one towel...If your towel is loaded up with dirt you are certainly scratching your clear coat. There are a ton of quick detailers out there and they all pretty much work the same to be honest. Every time you come in, give her a quick wipe down and that will keep you having to spend hours wiping her down all at one time.
@@sikbaggers would you recommend doing it in sections, for example compound one day , then wax the next day? Or compound and wax just the batwing, then move to the tank, fender, ect. ?
Another AWESOME vid Steve! You have got to follow these steps just as Steve laid them out if you want to protect your investment and have it looking great for many years to come! I definitely picked up some pointers and new products for my inventory! Appreciate you Brother! Ride Safe and keep your head on a swivel!
Awesome video man. Probably the most professional and thorough video I have found on youtube for cleaning and polishing a motorcycle. Two quick questions: (1) What product would you recommend for polishing out light swirling on plastic (not metal) chrome; (2) how many times can I use the Last Cut compound without being concerned about removing too much clear coat?
You can use the last cut tons of times...its not super abrasive so its really not for super bad scratches..I have not found one thing that can polish plastic chrome..there is no protective layer to really polish..everything I have tried just makes it worse.
@@sikbaggers You are the man. I'll be purchasing that along with a few other products you mentioned in your video. I have also not had any luck finding a product for plastic chrome, so will just have to keep it washed & waxed.
I have saved this video, subscribed, and shared this due to your insight. I'm going to use this on my '07 Road King, white with gold pearl clear. On a sunny day this thing is gonna look radioactive.
I'm moderately scared to paint correct my bike. Pondering since 6 months if I should take the risk to potentially ruin the paint completely while sourcing all the materials to do it. I think this weekend I'll pull the trigger and give it a try. Fingers crossed 🤞
As long as you keep the polisher moving and dont let the pads dry out and youll be fine. Take it slow and start with some milder pads and polish until you get the hang of it...youll do great!
Mcguires is my go to product. Their products have done just as good if not better than most products I've tried, and after owning a vivid black black I've tried just about everything, except F11 🤣. I do carry a can of Bike spirits cleaner-polisher and klock werks cleaner when I'm out at bike nights and rallys that works pretty well just to put a quick clean an shine on the bike.
Yeah the mcguires is about the only one that has stayed consistent with the product and never disappointed. Thanks for checking out the video...take care and ride safe!
@@sikbaggers Steven when using the clay bar are you just wiping the surface or are you applying slight pressure? I've never used clay bar on my bikes before. TIA
making sure that you never ever dry wipe your bike. Always use a quick detailer or waterless wash to clean even a little dust off and use a clean microfiber. The quick detailer will lift the dust up into the microfiber and not just swirl it around on your clear coat. same as washing...always make sure your cleaning mitt is just that, clean. If it hits the ground..its trash.throw it away. Make sure you use a PH balanced soap so it doesnt strip away your wax. Dry it with either a blower or drying towel.
Funny you brought up dawn dish soap. The closest Harley dealer to me buys it in buckets. Every Harley that goes through their shop gets washed with dawn dish soap. I always tell them to skip the wash, lol
wow...did anyone there just google " washing a car with dawn dish soap" lol so every bike on the lot is stripped and then they take them out in the sun all day in the parking lot..at least mine does anyway lol..man thats terrible.
@@sikbaggers yeah, all used sit out in the sun. New gets the same wash, but they stay inside the show room. I had to laugh when they tried to sell me on the fact that they sell tons of the expensive Harley wash, but they use cheap dawn soap. I can't figure out why they don't use their own products, lol. The only product they have that I like is the engine brightener.
If the pinstripe is stock it is under the clear coat..if it was added later and no clear coat was added over the top you will have to be carefulk around the pinstripe for sure.
🤣You're videos are sooo hilarious that I have to stop seconds into it before I watch the rest just to tell you this! ahhahahaha! I didn't comment on the short antenna vid where you boxed the long antenna, but I wish I woulda! hahahah THANK YOU FOR THE HUMOR AND COOL VIDS!
LOL I knew when I started this video I would get someone that would make that comment...it happens every time so I needed to address it right up front...looks like 2 people, so far have thought that and gave it a thumbs down lol Thank you for watching!!!
Great video. What is your opinion on doing a ceramic coating ? I’ve been using mcguires ceramic wax which works great. But the ceramic coat is a different product and more expensive. Thanks.
I dunno i spray f11 after wash an it makes everything on my bike look new again. The only down side is yes every couple days u gotta give a lil spritz again an wipe down to keep it shining. To my experience no other product works on my bike like the f11
@@sikbaggers yes it is very expensive but a little goes along way so far one bottle lasted my 3 years. I tried Miguel’s quick detail spray, turtle wax quick detail spray also tried chemical guys quick detail spray an so far by far the f11 on my black bike brings out the black makes it shine no streaks its noce an even it also makes all my rubber an plastic controls look new. It only last a few days an u gotta spray it again. Wd40 is another one that works great but thats not something u want on ur clothes or on ur breaks an rotors. I use that on my nuts an bolts periodically an sometimes i use it under my bike to keep stuff lubricated an from rusting
Great video I learned a lot and you take a lot of time and you have pride in your work . Last yr I got Flowgenix waterless wash it works pretty good . I was just want your thoughts on it . I watched your new video on ceramic coating and that was a great video also and I think I will be using that on my bike. Thanks for all the great info you put out . Steve
Ive tested a lot of waterless washes and to me its really all about the ease of use..I see some like the mcguires one I used to clay with on the ceramic video that is hard to get off...it seems like it just keeps smearing and smearing as you wipe..I use one from Killerwaxx called H2NO and its probably thr best Ive used...easy on, easy off, nice and thick so it sticks and starts soaking into the bugs...some of this stuff is just so watered down its ridiculous what they charge for it ,,,never tried flogenix but if its watery and runs off as youre spraying it...trash it and find something that sticks and has some hang time.
if the bags are scuffing really easy it could a sign that your leather is pretty dry...apply some leather conditioner to the whole bag..apply a generous amount..think about it as a lotion...rub it in, let it sit and maybe do it again...then your scuff marks should come off pretty easy by just hitting it again with the lotion.
We tested years ago and it failed just as fast as normal wax...unfortunately a lot of people think its a 1 and done process and its not...shady advertising. Thanks for checking out the video! Take care and ride safe!
Steve, just to be certain I understand what you’re doing, do you clean the wheels and motor first, detail the tins, then go back and detail wheels and motor?
Hey Dean..you can do it that way...there is no real order that I follow I guess..it appeared that way because of the different products I was using and trying to show. I usually clean and detail the wheels/motor and then detail the tins last
The one on this bike is the same one I run on all my bikes...advanblacks color matched low profile tank dash...its abs just like the bags, side covers etc...and the cap is metal www.advanblack.com/parts/harley-parts/harley-fairings-and-body/tank-dash-console.html
Hey Steve, just want to let you know that I ordered the foam cannon from the link that you provided here, I used it today to wash my truck and really like it. However the problem I had was finding your video that I had watched the day before so I could order it from the link you provided but want you to get some kind of kick back for your efforts here. I have a suggestion, why don't you create a link somewhere that would list all the products you endorse so we could just go there and click on the product we wanted. I know you were looking for another project to put together so there you go. LOL Just a idea to make it easier for us to buy them. Maybe that's not as easy as it sounds. Thanks again Steve, love your videos. Dave
Wow, excellent video, I learned a lot. I have a black 2007 Electra Glide. My issue is that whenever I wash it the black plastic parts turn almost cream or white in color. When the plastic is dried the white color fades away. I have used a clay bar to clean and waxed but the problem keeps coming back. Is this something that inherent with the Harley paint or am I doing something wrong?
The oils in the palstic degrade over time and dry out...that's where I use the Mother back to black. Now depending on how bad it is you will want to put that stuff on thick and let it sit. You may have to do this several times to ad the pills back into the plastic. Its like a lotion...just smear it on thick and let it sit for about an hour and wipe it off and repeat.
hahah exactly! That would never happen on one of my bikes...."oops I dropped the washmit in the gravel..let me just keep washing your bike" heeellll no! lol
I've bought F11 for years. This is how and why I buy their product..... I can usually get the girls selling it to detail my entire truck inside and out. Negotiate a discount on a box or two. Professional truck detail: 180.00 interior 80.00 exterior. A bunch of F11 product: 80-100. 160.00 less than paying for the detail and I get some product. But that's my truck. Wouldn't recommend for my bike. The tire shine OK. Still have most of product sitting in the corner of my garage unused
I really dont have a huge issue with F11...I do however have a gigantic issue with the way they market it like it's some magic pill and a one-time use product to justify the price. It simply doesn't last any longer than a good carnauba wax, if anything it doesn't last near as long as a top shelf wax will...its just "easy" I would take a middle shelf carnauba paste wax over f11 any day on any of my vehicles. I just hate seeing people getting suckered into the "magic potion" and blowing their hard-earned money.
well unfortunately if the plastic is peeling there isn't a lot you can do other than stripping it all off and painting them. Which isn't too bad of a job.
awesome video as usual. I'll have to look through again but do have video for say new bike or bike without problems. but you probably would use same procedure.MY experience with last bike when I used the dual action buffer was the wax polish etc went everywhere. Have you tried any ceramic yet? Not looking for long lasting, seems like after a few washes it's mostly gone, but looking for ultimate gloss shine. Back in the day we used to wet sand and buff but thats gone the way with base coat clear coats0
Hey Jim...yes we have our cars and trucks ceramic coated but we havent done the bikes. I like to polish and wax my bikes..therapy for me if you will. Get yourself a foam pad and add 3 drops of whatever product your using and on the lowest setting work the product into the paint then gradually add speed and you wont sling it...I dont use the polisher for wax though...only polishing. You can but I like to lay my wax down in straight overlapping lines. I use the spray on P&S Bead Maker for a final high gloss shine. Its awesome. Your paint will feel like silk.
Steve Great Ideas on Cleaning without dish soap 🧼 everyone including me didn't know dish soap removed wash and I constantly wax it. My Orange 🍊 pearl House Color 🎨 🖌 gets full bugs up here late Summer up north Chicago Burbs. I like most of us HD guys keep our bikes clean. Thanks for all of Great information plus no F11 ....Stay Warm it's crazy Cold 🥶 here. Waiting for Spring weather to ride here. Thanks again Guy
Hey Sam...im in southern Illinois and its been cold here too , it sucks lol but thanks for checking it out and glad the tips helped! Dish soap is great if you want to strip mit back down to the clear and start over on your layers of wax. Just make sure its rinsed really good to remove nay soap residue before you start waxing..I would do the isopropal cleaning after a good dish soap wash just to make sure its all back down to clear coat. Be safe out there!
Depends on if you are protecting the finish's with something like Rat Wax or DR. Beaslys wax...if so then use a ph balanced soap and for quick detailing a window cleaner that has NO AMMONIA. Ammonia will strip clear coat over time and paint...remember that matte/denim paint does have a matte clear coat over it. Its not just flat paint.
I have a gloss black goldwing that has a lot of swirls in the clear coat. Will the Last Cut work for it? If so, what pad should I use? with it? Body parts are plastic.
Hey Jimmie...sorry for the late reply here man...but start with a blue pad..thats a medium pad...and if its just clear coat scratches thats really all you need. ...you can follow up with a black finishing pad but really I never need to after using the last cut...because its the compound turns to polish as you go.
Dang that bike looks way better . The polishing machine did a great job , did you apply much pressure or just the weight of the polisher only . I will watch this video a few times to get the product correct . Thanks for sharing. Pete
I have four Killer Wax Products, H2No, Metal Polish, Premiun Detail Spray, and a wax product. This here has me a little confused. Where in THIS process would I use those products you recommended in a different video?
h2 no is a waterless wash.,.use it whenever you want to remove dirt bugs etc. Metal polish after you clean your bike...that can also be done anytime...it doesnt need to be in any certain order. whenever it needs it, use it. detail spray is just a touch up between waxes..again use it whenever you want. The wax needs to be used after you clean, polish (if it needs it) the process would go, H2NO to clean, polish chrome (if it needs it) clay bar before you polish, Polish, iso wipe to remove polish oils, wax, then touch up with h2no for heavy dirt bugs etc and/or hit with the detail spray for minir touch ups.
I clean the wheels with a product called awesome..you can seriously pick this up at the dollar store...but its a strong spray degreaser..clean with a soft scrub brush..you may even need to use some iron and fallout remover to get the built up brake dust and road grime off. Then I use any quick detailed to clean that up leaving the black parts with a decent shine thats not slippery.
If you have a dollar store near you go to the cleaning supplies and it's a yellow colored liquid called Awesome. You can get it in small spray bottles or large refillable bottles..I use it on everything for cutting dirt, depressing etc...siding, sidewalks, engines, wheels...strong stuff and cheap
I have used MCGuire's on my 2002 Ram Quad cab, and have buffed it twice with McGuires compound, and my 20 year old paint looks new, making people who ask me what year my truck is run to the Inspection sticker to see if I'm lying.

whites pretty forgiving because it hides scratches but rest assure its just as easy to scratch the clear...eventually it will start to show

You had me at your disclaimer🤣🤣🤣! Big thumbs up! Thanks for taking the time to show us this.

Yes sir.t eh powerlock is amazing stuff! thanks for checking it out!
Always my favorite stop on TH-cam is checking in on your vids Steve. Thanks for the great content.
Hey Paul, thank you for the kind words my friend!
Glad to see you doing the videos again. Great transformation of the bikes paint.
Thanks Ken! The bike turned out great but whew! a lot of work to get her there.
Thank you for the kind words my friend!
@@tsadkiel2008 Yes we have been pricing steamers as they work great on the frames and under the side covers etc...what brand are you using?
@@sikbaggers McCulloch MC1385

Hey terry thanks for checking us out and the sub! Much appreciated!
You feel my pain. I have a vivid black street glide. Been a mother's user forever. Great video
Yeah Fran I wont own a black bike after doing all these details on them lol Thanks for watching ! Take care and ride safe.
great stuff.
how do you clean all the electrotonic under the side covers
I use a very cheap but very strong product called Awesome...you can pick this up at dollar stores and dollar trees.this stuff - www.dollartree.com/las-totally-awesome-all-purpose-concentrated-cleaner-refills-32oz/985190 ..man its good stuff.I use it on everything..wheels, tires, siding, concrete, you name it... Use that and a bore hair brush, amzn.to/347P9yY work it around clean it out with a dry towel and use some compressed air if you have it to blow out loose dirt behind the wires.

Thank you for checking it out. Defenitly save some money and DIY..Youll be amazed when you are done. Take care and ride safe.
Great tips! I do love pig spit on the black motor. It seems to last even after washes and deflects a lot of the Hawaii red dirt. Great product and inexpensive.
Sure thing, we used the pigspit in a comparison video last year and got great results with it too. Take care and ride safe - Steve
love this channel!
Thank you brother!!!
Best bike wash vid with info I’ve seen thanks silly baggers
Great video. Have you used a drill polisher before? Instead of buying a polisher? Also do you polish the primary cover/engine with a machine?
This is a fantastic video. You explained everything great and it’s great to hear someone actually tell F11 like it is. Great job

Thanks John, you too!
Love this, keep coming back to it!
Glad it helps bro! Its a lot of info to unpack in one video but I thought it would with all those black bikes out there.
Another AWESOME vid Steve! You have got to follow these steps just as Steve laid them out if you want to protect your investment and have it looking great for many years to come! I definitely picked up some pointers and new products for my inventory! Appreciate you Brother! Ride Safe and keep your head on a swivel!
Thank you sir! Glad to help and provide some useful tips on keeping your sled in showroom shape!

Outstanding work, have this,same color

Mcguires is my go to product. Their products have done just as good if not better than most products I've tried, and after owning a vivid black black I've tried just about everything, except F11 🤣. I do carry a can of Bike spirits cleaner-polisher and klock werks cleaner when I'm out at bike nights and rallys that works pretty well just to put a quick clean an shine on the bike.

@@sikbaggers Steven when using the clay bar are you just wiping the surface or are you applying slight pressure? I've never used clay bar on my bikes before. TIA
@@ridinout6308 yes slight pressure...it doesnt take much...it'll pick up the debris pretty easy. biggest thing is keeping is keeping it wet.
@@sikbaggers good deal, much appreciated boss.
Love the video! Do you prefer any protectors for the leather seat/tour pack back rest?
Sorry for the late reply...been at Tail Of The Dragon for a week. I use 303...it works great on leather or vinyl amzn.to/3BBNWR1
I may have missed it, but say you do this whole process right? How do you recommend washing the bike from then on? To avoid the swirls, etc?
making sure that you never ever dry wipe your bike.
The only product they have that I like is the engine brightener.
great video what do you think about bug slide
Thank you ramon...Bug slide is a great preventative and easy to use.
Great video Steve. I have one question. My bike has pin striping on the tank and fenders. Will I damage them if I do a paint corrention.
If the pinstripe is stock it is under the clear coat..if it was added later and no clear coat was added over the top you will have to be carefulk around the pinstripe for sure.

Hey jst curious what other products you have used to do a quick wipe? Seems pretty expensive for a quick detailer.
Great video thanks for the information
Thanks for checking it out John!
@@sikbaggers I try to catch your videos here a d the other Chanel
Nice video question everytime my wife gets on the back her foot rubs my leather bags anything get those marks off ?
if the bags are scuffing really easy it could a sign that your leather is pretty dry...apply some leather conditioner to the whole bag..apply a generous amount..think about it as a lotion...rub it in, let it sit and maybe do it again...then your scuff marks should come off pretty easy by just hitting it again with the lotion.
I agree on the F11. Bought it once and used it twice and gave the rest away. Definitely over priced for what it is.
I usually clean and detail the wheels/motor and then detail the tins last
what is the gas cap and the center piece material made of on these bikes? Plastic or metal?

Hey Steve, just want to let you know that I ordered the foam cannon from the link that you provided here, I used it today to wash my truck and really like it.
However the problem I had was finding your video that I had watched the day before so I could order it from the link you provided but want you to get some kind of kick back for your efforts here.
I have a suggestion, why don't you create a link somewhere that would list all the products you endorse so we could just go there and click on the product we wanted.
I know you were looking for another project to put together so there you go. LOL
Just a idea to make it easier for us to buy them.
Maybe that's not as easy as it sounds.
Thanks again Steve, love your videos. Dave
Thank you Dave..much appreciated sir. I do have a linktree but on that linktree I need to make an amazon list and publish it there. Ill work on this.
Hey Steve have you tried any of the products from Chemical Guys ?
@@sikbaggers Thank you very much for the reply and advise. I will get that product and give it try!! I also subscribed to your channel.
Wait. I missed what you said about the black engine restore product. What product was it
It's harley davidson engine brightener ..you can also try s100 or pig spit ..they all work the same ...hds is usually cheaper believe it or not lol
At what step would I add cvo style badges with 3m backing on the tanks. I know you dont want wax on there or it wont stick well.
youll want to add those after the polish and wipe down, before the wax
Hey! I recognize the scratches in the paint. That's gonna be the FREE bikini bike wash at the dealer!
hahah exactly! That would never happen on one of my bikes...."oops I dropped the washmit in the gravel..let me just keep washing your bike" heeellll no! lol
Enjoy your videos. This one was informative.
thank you man! much appreciated.
Wow! Great video and detail job.
Thank you! Take care and ride safe!
I have inverty front forks and they have a plastic and pealing and look terable it's an 03 Harley Softail fxsti what can I do to fix it
well unfortunately if the plastic is peeling there isn't a lot you can do other than stripping it all off and painting them.
Thanks Steve, love my black, but it is a pain to keep it lookin great!
Yes they are! Thank you for watching!! Take care and rise safe!
What do you recommend for light scratches and swirls? Would it be the same process and products with light cutting pad and finishing pad?
yes it would be the same process with light compound or just swirl remover.

You got a video how to place rear bearings on your rear wheel on a Softail
I sure dont...don't... st this time but I'll try to make ine soon
Great video thanks. What do you recommend for denium paint?
Depends on if you are protecting the finish's with something like Rat Wax or DR. Beaslys wax...if so then use a ph balanced soap and for quick detailing a window cleaner that has NO AMMONIA. Ammonia will strip clear coat over time and paint...remember that matte/denim paint does have a matte clear coat over it. Its not just flat paint.
@@sikbaggers When time permits. I'd like to see one of these vids on a Denim bike. Wicked Red Denim here! Thanks Man.
What grade of clay bar? Some have fine, medium etc. With soft paint and clear on my black Harley I’m thinking fine?
I always start with fine and work my way up...for light debris you can feel but cant really see,
fine will always work
I have a gloss black goldwing that has a lot of swirls in the clear coat.
@@sikbaggers Thanks bro! I'll do as you suggest and thanks for making this great content!
Dang that bike looks way better . The polishing machine did a great job , did you apply much pressure or just the weight of the polisher only . I will watch this video a few times to get the product correct . Thanks for sharing. Pete
hardly any pressure at all..let the machine do the work for you.
Awesome! Thank You!
I have a 2014 Ultra with stock wheels. What do you use to shine them up.
@@sikbaggers Thanks . Appreciate all of your videos.
Great help, thanks
Glad it helped and thanks for checking it out! Be safe.
Also. What did you use for the area under the side guards?
If you have a dollar store near you go to the cleaning supplies and it's a yellow colored liquid called Awesome. You can get it in small spray bottles or large refillable bottles..I use it on everything for cutting dirt, depressing etc...siding, sidewalks, engines, wheels...strong stuff and cheap
I have used MCGuire's on my 2002 Ram Quad cab, and have buffed it twice with McGuires compound, and my 20 year old paint looks new, making people who ask me what year my truck is run to the Inspection sticker to see if I'm lying.
Very nice...I dig the mcguires stuff...seems to be the only stuff on the market that hasn't been watered down to full the shelves of wal mart.
