      G’day mate, just watched your video from all the way over here in Australia. Thanks a lot for the advice mate really helped a lot. Was rather torn between the Harley products and other outside Harley products so certainly helped.
      Do you have any advice on what type of detergents to use to wash a Harley and also is there something different to use for the wheels given that you are dealing with brake dust and road grime and all sorts

      @@jeremiahokeefe1569 thakn you so much for checking it out!! I use any type of PH balanced soap to wash them...most car wash soaps are perfect...it wont strip the wax off your bike...that being said, about every 2 years ai will specifically use dishwashing liquid that is designed to remove grease, which remove your wax as well. Get it back to clear coat and start with a fresh coat of wax. On stuborn dirty wheels I will use Duracoating Wheely Clean. Not sure if you can get thatover there but you can also use S100 Wheel cleaner...it works pretty good too...if the brake dust is heavy it just takes more elbow grease and maybe doing it a few times. I hope this helps!

    Back riding Harley’s last 15 years have owned 6 Harley’s during that time. I have owned 3 my wife 3 so I am the fleet maintenance guy . This is a simple review for this 63 year old rider / owner.S100 is all I will ever use.There is a relationship between using S100 total cycle cleaner on a regular basis and use of the S100 engine brighter.I use the brightener maybe twice per season.traded my 2010 Road Glide custom this summer original owner general manager gave me top dollar for my trade couple weeks later was in his shop asks . “What do you clean your motor with?” I told him .” Why I asked? “My guys in the back said it was the cleanest motor ever brought into the shop.oh and it sold in four days never made it to the sales floor.”
    Smiled walked over to the garage section grabbed a bottle of S100 total cleaner and engine brighter on the way out.

    Have used the S100 on several bikes. Works well. I think the key is to use light coats. It does cost more. So after seeing this video and realizing their really is any difference in the overall final result, I’ll probably use the cheaper products and save a few bucks. Once again a terrific video. Been using S100 fir 20 years. Especially on my 01 Cvo Road Glide with a silver engine. It still look nicer then new at 69.000 miles.. its my go to sealer. Deffinatly detergent resistance. That keystone any coating is that the surface is clean properly.

  • @Shanaigins

    I used to buy the pig spit in the blueish colored cans normally found at Harley or independent Bikes shops. At the time I also seen the the stuff in the black cans labeled pig spit which I always thought and was told was a copy cat of great product and was warned away from it. The pig Spit in the blueish colored cans clearly said in the instructions it could be used on any surface including paint it also warned obviously not to use on seats grips tires ( anything requiring traction DuHHH) Anyways I used to wash and blow dry my bikes with the seat off and I would coat every part I could with pig spit paint work, chrome, wires, connectors, nuts, bolts, exhaust ( everything pretty much but the obvious ) If I was going on a long ride or I knew I couldn't wash my bikes for some reason for a month or two even after long trips in the rain even in bug season I would not wipe any of the product off except off of parts where the product could heat up and possible collect dirt causing stains or the product could creep onto tires grips etc
    Meaning leave that stuff on and your chrome nut bolts frame etc will resist rust that much better than if you wiped it all off going for a mirror shine on everything. All I can say is I never had rust or pitting problems on any of my bikes. I cannot say for sure which pig spit is the true original or which was better or if they are in fact the same just different batches from the same maker. I will say when I wanted to take the time to wax painted areas after using pig spit I would just not coat the tin work on purpose wipe off any over spray then wax like normal. I used pig spit on paint as a quick and easy spray detailer for paint when I was too rushed or felt the bike did not need the time spent on waxing tins.

    Nice video. I have used WD-40 on my engine and all black parts for years. Use the spray nozzle for tight spaces and use a sponge to apply in the larger easy to reach areas. Have used it on my 1992 Heritage Softail since 1995. Works well and lasts for months.

  • @COZWV
    @COZWV 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'd say this stuff is like seasoning a skillet or other surface. Adding the silicone-based spray gives you that amount of corrosion resistance you need. Now I have to decide on which one I want, or just use Pam or WD-40. HAHA! Great video! Glad I searched for something. Drives me crazy, trying to polish my chrome and one slight touch of the cleaner to the black and it's permanently white.

    Trick I have learned with the Harley Product, after washing my bike and drying properly, I will spray a light coat, wipe off excess from chrome, then warm the engine up to let the metals expand and absorb the product, then spray another light coat and wipe off excess let dry and review the results

    Old video I know, but the HD stuff is essentially silicone lube spray. Everything sticks to it. Siligon is a better product to use than that stuff. It's silicone free. Can't go wrong with Pig Spit or S100. In a tight spot, use WD-40 or a silicone lube spray. Preferably water resistant.

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct but...SILIGON says its for plastic, rubber and vinyl....you use it on the black on the motor? And if you do how does it hold up over time?

    I used the HD brightener on my Fatbob and my Sporty..... the silicone base tipped me off to just use the Autozone carried silicone spray... liked it just as good as the HD, for less money. My Fatbob has the denim black..which was "greyed out". Since I'm not concerned about repainting the bike... I wipe the denim paint with the same stuff. Looks great to me..and easy to maintain.

    Buy a case of 12 of pig Spit which works out to $9 a can. Lasts for 3 years including my Street Glide (using it for 11 years and looks factory new), three cars, and truck. Mist comes off easy on paint and chrome and makes it even more shiny. Dries in minutes and heat of engine doesn’t bother it. No issues with dust or dirt sticking I’ve see. Hides scratches too…🤟

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed...buying by the case is much cheaper..I got a 6 pack from ebay for about that price..pretty good deal.

  • @raymondpontremoli4500
    @raymondpontremoli4500 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You will probably think Im crazy or have way too much time on my hands but this is what I do. I get the pig spit or the S100 can and turn it upside down....Push the button or put it in a wood clamp and hold the button down until all the propellant is gone. Once the can is empty, and I make sure its empty....Shake it really good and then use one of the old time can openers and put a hole in the can. Pour the liquid out and into a small glass jar. I then load it into my ...ready for this...airbrush....I can surgically put this stuff on without hitting any or the chrome and I use allot less than spraying it from the can.

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats pretty smart as the cans do only have one spray pressure...off and full blast so there is a lot of build up and waste when it only needs a fine coat. Smart!

    S100- I can only speak for myself but I picked up a `07 FatBoy last year with only 6,000 miles that was a little neglected as far as being cleaned. It was a bike that was on the east coast near the ocean so it had some corrosion. I clean my bikes a lot during the summer months and even winter if I`m able to ride. The S100 brought it back to like new condition as I`m sure the others would have also. I also put a lot of miles on the bikes, usually about 30,000 miles a year between the two. Here`s the kicker, after countless cleanings I only had to use the S100 2x last year on my FLSTF engine. The stuff stays on after washing and stays put very well. I just finished the can with my initial spring cleaning of the bike. So that`s 3 uses but it lasted all year long even during winter riding..Just my experience with the S100..I also use the engine brightener on everything but the tank and fenders..

This black bike however gets wet, plenty...so we will see....thanks again for your input man...much appreciated

    Thanks for this video. I think I saw the fins clear up as well? Or is that an optical illusion. The cylinder cooling fins on my 1900 dont look so good. Im not sure if I should use, steel wool, or 220 sandpaper to bring back to that nice aluminum look. But it seems the pig spit made them look much better. Is this how they do those fins? Im not sure how to approach cleaning them up. If this product does that (seems to work in video) I will go that way, or am I wasting my money? Any advise is appreciated from any readers. Thanks in advance

      Hey Monte...cleaning with a 220 and a something flat like a popsicle stick works the best,,however the steel wool works pretty good too..thats how I clean them and its really not too bad..just alittle time consuming. This stuff is basically a silicone based spray that makes the black pop a little bit and not look so ashey.

    How to get the fin ends shiny, take some very fine sand paper between 800 to 1200 grit soaked in water and a small piece of wood and sand the fins with only a moderate amount of pressure. Do a test first.

    Excellent video! I'm completely new to this as I just got my first bike which is used and needs a deep cleaning. So where does all the grime and stuff go when you use these products? Does it just disappear?

      thank you ken! and its the Klockwerks Flare amzn.to/3JOjmoF and ive been through so many windshields in my day and the klockwerks are by far the toughest ones out there as far as impact resistance goes and if you got the proper size you it will kick the air up and over you and your passenger. And yes there are cheap knockoffs of these but they are just that...cheap and scratch super easy, fade in time and will crack...im not affiliated with them in any way...but its the only windshield I will buy for my bikes.
