    Best review I've watched on this knife. I used a smaller version of a Cold Steel tanto for feeding hay myself and it worked great. Good job!

    I have that same one, gotta say I love it. Its a great work knife. I also have a voyager tanto but I seem to be carrying the SR1 more. I love how smooth it opens an closes. It's also a very comfortable design.
    You did a good job I like to see people use knives. I'm not a fan of a lot of these TH-cam knife people that say you should buy this and none of them ever use the darn thing.
    You hit every point that matters to me. Have a good one bro

    Fantastic video! I like that you included the footage of you using the knife, you put a lot of effort into this one! I have an SR1 Lite as well, it’s a clip point though, and I agree their 8cr is way better than any other 8cr out there. And it’s a big ol chunk of 8cr too lol it’s totally worth every penny!

    I have the Tanto version for wearing my work clothes. I have other Cold Steel folders (Immortal for street clothes, Voyager Large Tanto for dress clothes, Counter Point XL for mail opening) as well. It is a good, hardworking knife. Thank you for the positive review, because 8CR13MOV gets a bad rep. But Cold Steel did a great job on the heat treat on the steel. I had to bend the clip with needle nose pliers, so it slides in and out my pocket better. But once again, thanks!

    • @gideonsstuff
      @gideonsstuff  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! I honestly think this is the toughest knife under $100 and well worth the money. Cold Steel does fantastic heat treats which become apparent during use. Between the price and the durability, this is probably the best beater and work knife out there!

    • @wellingtonblackwell3118
      @wellingtonblackwell3118 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gideonsstuff I believe that you are correct. People need to give this knife a chance, rather than staying away due to one person's bad experience with a knife with the same blade steel. People start talking, and that is how rumors get started. 8CR13MOV works with this knife very well.

    If you want a knife that is just as strong… buy the same knife in the clip point version. You can then take it to Sunday picnics and it’ll perform great at all tasks. Joe x beat the snot out of this knife and it didn’t break!… don’t get me wrong,I love tanto’s and you own one of the best folding pry bars on the planet…lol!

      One of these days I'll get around to the clip point. That's my usual preference, but it's hard to pass on a Cold Steel tanto 😁

    Looking at mine a year later and it also has that chamfered corner at the bottom of the lock button. Looks deliberate to me. Also looks like they quietly changed the steel to 8Cr14MoV. A tiny upgrade. Supply issue maybe.

    • @wayneholmes637
      @wayneholmes637 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's the exact same steel. It is chinese AUS8 with 13.8% chrome which you can then round up or down to give either 8CR14MoV or 8Cr13MoV. Same thing.

    Saber-flat blade grind.

  • @adrianfytr35
    @adrianfytr35 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Ive had this knife for around two months now and its awesome but im feeling up and down blade play. Its only a very little amount but i dont like that. So i took it apart and noticed the tiniest little amount of space between the pivot hole and the actual pivot itself. I'm talking about the steel inserts, or liners, or whatever they are. That tiniest amount of space seems to be the problem. It seems the hole is just very slightly mishapen which is causing this up and down play. Not really a fixable thing, and its probably gonna get worse. I haven't even put this thing to hard use really. Juat flipping it open a bunch.
    Just thought I'd add my opinion and ask if anyone else experienced this.
    Good video 👍🔪.

      I haven't had that issue, so it might be a defect on your model. I wouldn't worry too much. The Triad lock is self-adjusting so it'll remain strong

      Apologies for not completely understanding your question, but I think you are expressing concerns with the sharpening difficulty of a tanto blade. It takes practice, but as long as you treat each edge separately it should go smoothly.
