    I've had this knife for a good while now. I have the tanto model. It is a absolute great work knife. I would go so far to say this is the perfect survival knife.
    Most people don't understand survival. They think you need a huge fixed blade. They are nice but you never carry it. See this knife is the type you will Carry when you go out so you have a great chance of having it when something happens. Then this knife is tough enough to do anyone need to survive. At least thats my opinion.

    • @HardOnGearChannel
      @HardOnGearChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There’s definitely a case to be made for folders over fixed blades in that scenario, and if I were to carry one, it would oh so likely be a beefy tri-ad lock knife like this one.
      There isn’t much use of having a knife for survival/emergency purposes if you never carry it on your person 🤷🏻‍♂️
      That tanto version has to be a step up from the clip point in terms of durability, so even better!
      Thanks for the discussion ✌️

    I have the tanto. But I now want the clip version because the tanto does not penetrate as good since its 5mm think (same as the Recon tanto)! Tip: slide a 80 grit sand paper under the clip and slide it in and out until it wears down the scale. That will make an incredible difference with that overly tight clip

    • @HardOnGearChannel
      @HardOnGearChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! While I’m not a big tanto guy myself, tanto tips are if great if you’re going to doing a lot of punching through and prying of materials that you probably should be prying with a knife (i.e. dense wood, metal). You can still slice with it, but it won’t be quite as good of a cutter as the clip point if you need to do longer cuts of cardboard or cordage.
      I can’t say I’ve used tanto knives in the bush any amount, but feel as though it would wouldn’t be a capable as the clip point for bushcraft work. I’m sure that’s a debatable topic though.
      All of this is just my opinion of course, but put simply: if you REALLY plan to beat the snot out of it and do a lot of prying, probably go with the tanto. Otherwise, I’d go with the clip point for better overall utility.

    Which knife for survival/bushcraft? An SR1 lite or Joker Lynx?

    • @HardOnGearChannel
      @HardOnGearChannel  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most always the fixed blade. Especially for the design and grind of that Joker knife, it’d be wayyyy better suited for bushcraft.
      HOWEVER, if you were to trust any ONE folding knife to never let you down and be ALMOST as reliable as a well-built full tang fixed blade… then it would be probably be the SR1 or SR1 Lite.

    • @HardOnGearChannel
      @HardOnGearChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This folder is OKAY for that stuff in my opinion, but there are knives that would be way better. This one can be heavy and hard to pull out of the pocket if you’re stressed.
      The most important thing is training. What you carry is far less important than who’s carrying it.
      However… fixed-blades are almost always better than folders. Less risk of fumbling the deployment, less chance of knife failure, and faster to deploy and get into action. Here are a few knives that I would consider to be more of what your asking about, but everyone has different opinions and preferences:
      -Emerson knives CQC series, Cold Steel Spartan, Spyderco Yojimbo or Yojumbo for folders.
      -KA-BAR TDI, TOPS Cut 4.0, Shivworks Clinch Pick
