Since the package says it's for bushcraft use take it to a bushcraft class and see how it's used. Or contact SOG and ask them what they had in mind. Other than stabbing things what else do you do with it? Shovel? Tent stake? We know it can be used for hunting and personal defense against in animal. Are there accessories? Can you change the spear head? Use it like a knife or an axe?

Gerber consistently has somewhat good ideas, but then their profit margin demands dictate subpar materials and absolutely hideous quality control. What makes it so sad, is how good they could be. Perfect list.

I'm a bit confused as to how you're confused about a spear being intrinsic to bushcraft.... even if you're not hunting. In my experience, camping involves not only various predators about (as simple as wild dogs and coyotes) but varied other hostilities as well. Spear may be a last resort, but fall-back options need to always be options. A flashlight and my trusty old timer could help me fend off a dog trying to eat me. But why should I do it like that?

I've got the Reaper Tac Javelin. It's great for reaching dry branches for kindling. Just a tool to add to fire making equipment. Also, you can cut blackberry bushes or other prickly bush if they are overgrown on a trail. That way you don't get stuck by a thorn. You can also use it to get fruit from a tree, if it's too high, or out of reach. also, good defense against rabid racoons, or tasmanian devils😂

I got it. Use it for paper and cardboard all the time. Not too big and perfect for small cuts. The little skrewdiver it came with is also useful. Keep it in my bag and comes in handy more than I expected.
