Have carried CRKT m16-04S tanto w/serrations for decades. It now resides in my rope bag. This SR1 beast is a bit larger, thicker & triad lockup awesome! Great grips too!

I have the AD10 and the SR1Lite. The AD10 is my EDC. The SR1Lite is for when I travel to Honduras. The SR1Lite would be illegal to pocket carry there, but legal to carry in a pouch (it fits in a pistol mag pouch).

I just got the sr1 lite clip point a few days ago . I love it BUT after a few days I have noticed the blade is hitting the lock bar when closed , now the blade has a roll otherwise it's perfect.. I will contact cold steel , I have heard others with the same problem . I love the knife so hopefully problem can be resolved. I haven't given them a chance to rectify problem so in my opinion if you like the knife get it .

@@gideonstactical I'm going to call them tomorrow . the tolerance is tight . it didn't come damaged , it's on the edge straight down from where the swedge starts , when you close the knife it hits a high point on the in side of the lock bar. Mine is definitely hitting and rolling BUT possibly sharpening may fix this ( tight tolerances ) , I'm going to contact them first before sharpening , I feel like it probably doesn't happen on every example but could be fixed at factory by increasing handle height or blade height where blade hits pin on the inside or a little of both . on another review in the comments I had seen that cold steel had acknowledged this issue , like I said it probably isn't every one , I own lots of cold steel products and could go on and on and love them all , please don't be disparaged if you're reading this comment IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN THIS KNIFE OR ANY COLD STEEL PRODUCTS GET IT . Thanks Aaron I always enjoy your reviews keep up the good work . Thanks

Me too, the Voyager XL Clip Point. I absolutely love the knife. In VA, you can conceal carry a folding knife of any blade length, accept in certain areas. Unfortunately, we don't have preemption, so my liberal county makes it's on rules. In the "Gun Free" park my daughter plays in, I can't carry my pistol, and they limit the folding knife blade length to 4 inches. These knives look like good options for 4" folders.

I live out in the Florida woodlands and the thing I like about the sr1 is the fact I can carry a blade in my pocket and no one knows I am carrying a knife that has similar properties to a fixed blade but very compact and easily deployed. The reliability of a knife is a characteristic that some people look over to have it made lighter and more comfortable in the pocket. Great review Aaron as always!

  • @mrdarren1045

I don't yet own a single folder. All my knives are fixed blades but I'm really considering this SR1. It looks like a really solid knife. It would be nice to be able to carry a knife for hiking etc without the hassle of carrying a fixed blade. I've never been the type into folders but this one really floats my boat. The guys at Dutch bushcraft knives also gave it a really positive review.

I’ve got two of the lites….tanto and curved blade. Under crazy, super extreme abuse…and I mean near unbelievable abuse, a full tan would perform better…. For what 99.999 percent of anything I would practically tried at it..hell, even a decent amount of abuse in my real life…no problem for these monsters.

Hi, thank you for the nice review. Just a little thing, the weight SRK 1C is just 1oz bigger as you said (and there is a bit more of the edge, which is good), but sometimes we forget weight and size of a sheath so we can make from comparable size and weight a folder and a fixed knife completely uncomparable items. Here for example the SR 1we can somehaw put it into our pocket. The SRK 1C WITH the sheath makes the width of the blade nearly ×2 and it adds atleast 2oz I gues, so now we have completely different items to carry:-) Just opinion… Good job and I like CS knives and SR 1 will be definitely in my collection;-) FM

Okay, so here is my use profile for the SR1, and it rocks. I have the standard clip version. I carry it in my backpack or hip pack when I am moto camping. It is the knife I have "on me" for basic food prep. The point is sharp for poking and piercing. The handle is big enough to give full purchase with a motorcycle gloved hand. The strength of the knife is appreciated for any number of tough roadside repair or emergency applications. I have actually used the knife to break a window and cut seatbelt to extract an rollover accident victim when I was first at the scene on a back road. Last, the linear shape makes it ideal for self defense use. I carry a camping fixed blade in my saddlebag, but the SR1 is the knife I have on me.

Put that in your pocket, and even if you're 100 miles from your home when shtf, you're golden. Plus, who doesn't need a knife that they can literally depend on, when their life is on the line. And who knows when that might happen? I love beefy almost unbreakable pocket knives. And that's because I love fixed blades. I'm soooo bad, if my foldable knife has any blade play at all, I return it and look for something else, I guess I'm snooty? Idk

Why choose the sr1 lite over a cold steel Voyager in Aus10 if it's cheaper and has a better steel?

They are both awesome knives buddy. But if you have the large voyager, the sr1 takes it!! Now if you have the voyager xl that’s a different ball game!! That xl voyager it’s a beast!!!!!!!! Specially the voyager tanto

I would retort: why choose? Get both, you have two hands...statistically at least...

      Do it.

I carry the range boss in my front right pocket and the sr1 lite tanto in the rear left pocket. The range boss, even with a little over 4 inch blade, is a small knife it likes to sit in the fingers. The sr1 lite is big. It sits in the hand. I've literally pryed with it. Since the lite model has a bit of a softer steel, I just scrape it on sh!+ to sharpen it, and I steel it on other knives. It will shave wet but not dry, and I'm fine with that level of sharpness for what it is. . . A pry bar.

The only reason for a thick blade is to use it as a pry bar, and you are not going to use a 4in blade with plastic handle for that are you

While you have multiple sr1s, you gotta see if you can swap the g10 for the plastic on the sr1 heavy! Save some weight, better steel, and finally black!

Are Cold Steel knives the best? Depends on who you ask. I have many Cold Steel knives. Why? Because they're dependable, affordable and most importantly, because I like my fingers.

Thank you very much for uploading this video.
    I have one question though.
Cold Steel shows in its videos that the CS SR1 can handle much more hanging weight than the CS SR 1 lite. Could you explain this to me, please (the different materials do not affect the lock, do they?)?
Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to answer my question.

I’ve been using the GEKKO 1500 for the last view years...this seems like a copy (lock, size)
But the blade here is even 1,5mm thicker that’s big.
Only know one that builds bigger (Medford Knives) up to 7mm 😎 great review

I bought the SR1 Lite Tanto, Voyager Large Tanto in AUS-10A, Immortal in S35VN, and Click N Cut this year. I did not know 8CR13MOV received so much bad press. But I like mine as a knife when I wear work pants. It is a tough knife, and I keep mine as sharp as possible. But you and Jimislash kept your shows with unbiased views and brought out what the SR1's (especially the Lite versions) are capable of. Thank you for that.

I like the heft of the blade. It's heavy enough, that it becomes a gravity-operated knife with the flick of your wrist.

Cold Steel, if you're making a tank MAKE A TANK, STEEL LINERS! no one who cares about weight would purchase these knives as they are.
That said Men Don't care about weight.
Steel liners wouldn't add that much but would add significantly in durability strengthen longevity.
