DO NOT Sleep on Wilson Equipment. I retired 2 years ago and started playing golf more frequently. This year, July, I went looking for a used Driver-- but ended up getting fitted into a Wilson Dynapower TI driver. Already owing Ping (425), Mizuno and Srixon drivers, I can confidently say the Wilson is just superior in every aspect: distance, forgivness, all of it. Then, I went to the Golf big box store and came home with a Wilson Infinite putter (The "L" model). I spent 3 hours hitting putters in the store and this one stood out. Before July, I had shot an even par round once in my life. In July this year (and now early August), I have 3 more 72's. I have had 5 birdies in a round once, and 4 birdies in a round twice. I have 8 rounds in a row in the 70's and counting. As a 65 year old, 8/9 HDCP (lower now), I can tell you this equipment performs. My next irons will likely be Wilson, but I am not done with my Mizuno JPX Hot Metal sticks, yet. Go test this equipment. Performance and Value, period.
Great take care. Thank you so much for taking the time to share that experience. People definitely need to get fitted and have an open mind about different brands. Don't let the marketing fool you
Love the Wilson Staff and Staff X , i’m 63 yrs old and am a 4 hcp ."… was a ProV1 golfer, but discovered them 2 Yrs ago and never looked back…awesome solid ball.
The Wilson Staff was Good golf ball back in the 80s.. today, Wilson has as good a golfball lineup as anyone.. when I’m not playing much, I don’t mind playing the Duo..
I don’t know about ever liking nickel back, but, I bought a couple boxes of Wilson Smartcores to play in the late fall and winter when I always lose balls in the leaves. I was extremely surprised. Great ball.
@@crazyfingers19 couple of years ago I bought some on clearance @ Walmart 2 dozen for $5.. and you are exactly right, Wilson doesn’t pedal crap.. no matter the price point!
I started playing Wilson Zip based on your top 10 golf balls videos. and man was I amazed. it is an amazing golf ball. It feels really good, gives great distance and gives amazing control. Thank you very much for the recommendation.
I’ve been watching this channel for a long time, just recently started commenting. I’m a huge advocate for the Duo Soft for not only slow swingers but pretty much any beginner/slicer, I feel like it would help them a lot. I loved this video, the Percept is what I buy if Walmart is out of Duo Soft ONLY because of this channel and I play a Dynapower Titanium driver, SUPER forgiving driver. The Dynapower Ti and Duo Soft combo is an absolute game changer.
Hey that's awesome. Thank you so much for being a long time watcher. Big fan of the duo soft as well. I think that's actually an excellent one two punch you have. Hopefully soon I can find my way to a Wilson fitting so I can try out some of their clubs
Thanks for many great reviews Golf Ball Addict! I started with Wilson D9 irons which I really like. Then I tried the D9 driver and it’s also very good and not too expensive. Then after a putter fitting, I have the Wilson Infinite ‘The L’ which is working well for me. Saw a couple Wilson High Toe wedges on sale, and fairway woods and a hybrid. I’m really happy with the whole bag now and I’m improving my game. Life is great, it’s a beautiful game! Wilson brand is much better than many think.
Thank you very much for taking the time to show your feedback and provide kind words. That's pretty cool that you have almost an exclusively Wilson bag. 😃
Took a chance on Wilson Triad balls because of a different YT golf ball evaluation. I am very pleased with them. I've been a loyal Bridgestone player for 20 years, but my swing speed is dropping, and the Wilson Triad is a better fit for me right now. I get a lot of spin and control around the greens and the distance is there as well.
I grew up with my dad’s old Wilson Ultra45 iron set, so I always had a respect for Wilson. But after dropping out of the game for 17 years picked up Wilson irons as my regular set, and as I’m working out my short game, I love their harmonized wedges so I can just pick one up and try to sort out what I need to keep in my bag without breaking the bank.
There are so many good golf balls today to choose from. But Golf Ball Addict is right about the Precept Laddie. It's a 60 compression ball. 2 dozen box for $25 is a steal. Being a 60 compression ball makes it good for golfers with less than 85 mph swing speed. Also easily compressable in the winter time.
Great stuff! I completely agree about Wilson being underrated across the board. I just bought my fist box of Zips because of your recommendation. Looking forward to trying them out.
I am a beginner golfer. As in just this May. So the term "scrub " it's still fair. Right now, I lose enough golf balls I can't reason out anything more than 70 cents a ball. But I love that this channel is willing to look at something that shoots right around a dollar a ball. Cuz that will be hopefully what I improve up to next year. I still need something soft that helps me out. But I am seriously impressed that this channel does focus on the lower end spectrum for the rest of us. I don't think enough people realize how much money we put in an actual golf balls when you're not very good at the game. So thank you.
That's what it's all about. There are so many good golf balls out there that are in the dollar per ball price range that are good enough for even intermediate handicaps. Heck I even still use them on the course sometimes depending on the course I'm playing. I appreciate the love
Love the Wilson love! That smart core is my go to ball. I’ve been playing the Laddie thanks to this channel. Both balls are great. I’ve dumped my Odyssey and Kirkland putter also for a Wilson buck town putter also. It seems every putt I look at with it feels like I have a chance.
It's just incredible how much those Wilson putters are underrated. I used mine for well over 2 years and even when people asked about it they ended up loving it also
I too like the Wilson quality products. definitely underrated. love the zip balls for sure! My wife recently gifted me a box of Callaway supersoft and I thought, these are what I started out with and felt like I graduated up from them. I'll tell you what, I immediately hit driver tee shots straight and on average 10-15 yards longer than my everyday ball. Surprise!! I have a few balls I want to try out but if all else fails I will come back to the supersoft. Love your content.
Great review Nick. Just asking people to open their eyes. Who had heard or tried the Inesis until you reviewed it. Wilson, without doubt are a major player and produce very good equipment. Top Flite balls were cheap rocks when I started playing so many years ago. I have not seen them here in Thailand but, because of your reviews, I would definitely try them. Golf balls for us average golfers, that is the reason you post reviews.
As always I appreciate the heck out of you. I can tell you for a fact I would have never tried the inesis ball without your recommendation. Hopefully they bring the new model to the US soon
Thanks! I use Zips and Duo Softs and I like them. My golf buddy is a big man, in his later 50's, and drives his ball around 250 yds. most of the time. With the help of the Zips, last month, I was averaging around 215 with an occasional 230ish when I knew I wouldn't lose the ball with a bad slice. Luckily, I found the fairway more often than not and had 4 pars along with a lucky birdie. I'm happy with my clubs but If I buy new clubs they will be Wilson's. I like your videos. Thanks again!
I made the switch to the Wilson Tour this year too and I absolutely LOVE them!! The Triad is great too!! I don’t know what or how they mix their yellow, but it might be the easiest to see!
I bought Wilson smart cores a few years ago as a joke because of the crazy story on the box “reacts to your swing speed”. Fell in love with them, played nothing but since, tried the zip, but the smart bomb (as I call it) fits me best.
Nice. I cannot wait to do a test on them soon. We're trying to find a replacement for the zip on the channel and so I have the entire Wilson two-piece lineup to review. Super excited
That's awesome. I'm actually going through that struggle right now. I struggled with trying to improve my swing speed so much that I was just swinging out of my shoes. Lately I've really gotten back in the habit of just nice smooth swings and man there's a huge difference
Relatively new to the channel and am enjoying. Question, have you ever done a video discussing golf ball compression? Not for an individual ball, but compression in general and what would suit which kind of golfer? I think that would be helpful.
I'm making something kind of like that. I'm working on a video but essentially will cover all bases of what kind of golf ball I believe everyone should play.
I'm a 3hc and I've found the best ball for my game is the Wilson Triad. Check them out if you drive it under 250 yards. It's a tour quality ball for slower swing speeds
I did a test recently. I definitely didn't get the reaction that they are for slower swing speeds. I actually had trouble compressing it at times with 95mph driver
Growing up, and learning the game, I played a lot of Pinnacle and Top Flite balls. Start with something like these, and then, when you are better, move to a better ball. By the way, some of my best rounds I have played with these brands.
Honestly sometimes it doesn't even boil down to that. I will still play a good two-piece golf ball if I have a tight course or I need to keep the ball and play
I’ve golfed off and on my whole life, but got a membership this year and have golfed a lot. My first set of balls I bought were the Wilson Profile. Since then I’ve tried Calloway’s, Taylor made, titleist, pinnacles and Bridgestones that are in the $20 to $25 dollar range per dozen. The Wilson profiles played as well as all of them. Very balanced ball for the price. Wish they made them in yellow.
I was extremely impressed considering the price. Wilson rarely misses when it comes to this price point. But still considering it was an Amazon exclusive I wasn't expecting much. I'm glad it turned out really well
I've been playing Wilson Zips for several years and have found few balls that truly compare when it comes to price and performance. No wilson clubs in the bag at the moment but played staff tour blades for years and they were every bit as good as MP 33s or titleist 690s that i played until recently. Thanks for recognizing how geeat wilson truly is!
That Wilson zip is the Pinnacle of why reviewing every golf ball is important. Nobody thought that golf ball was going to be any good, but after the review and years of people trying and playing it, it's become the number one used golf ball on my channel for sure. At least from the feedback I received that is
I'm a senior golfer with a high handicap. I've played the TopFlite Bomb and Hammer Distance. I've also played the Pinnacle Rush and Soft, the Precept Laddie Extreme and a whole array of Wilson golf balls, mostly the Duo Soft. I have no complaints about any of these balls. You may want to look at the Bridgestone Extra Soft, the TaylorMade Speed Soft, the Maxfli Softfli and of course, the Kirkland ball. The ProVs are excellent balls but they don't have the feel I'm looking for. In the hands of tour professionals they may be everything people rave about. But they just don't work for me. And they're pricey, especially when you hit one lost forever. It's like throwing money away. As for clubs, I have something from everyone (almost) over the years. I currently have the Wilson Dynapower fairway clubs in my bag and am very happy with the performance. So, get out there, take dead aim (Harvey Pennick) and hit 'em straight! Enjoy the game!
I don’t know if it’s still made but Honma did a 6 piece ball! My daughter bought me a box for my birthday a few years back and I still have them! Let’s NOT forget Padraig Harrington & Paul Lawrie not too long ago winning majors with Wilson and their Dynapower forged irons are some of the best value clubs for “average” golfers! I play Orka irons and wedges but if I was in the market, I’d be getting a fitting and I was a Ping player for 30 odd years before Orka!
The staff will probably come off a little firmer. Maybe a little more punishing on mis hits. Please let me know how you end up liking it or any feedback you have
@@GolfBallAddict I played the Wilson Staff Model today and scored 78. I do love the ball but the price is crazy high. Being an OnCore member, i am able to great prices on the vero x1 or Elixr. I do wonder what ball to play for the price or precision. I am at that point in my golf journey. I turned 55 today. I play Mizuno 923 Forged irons with a Titleist tsr2 driver. I like the OnCore, Vice Pro, Callaway chrome soft x, and now the Wilson Staff. I have officially become a golf ball addict also!! I think price is now the only real factor for me. I really enjoy and love your youtube channel and honest opinion. God Bless!!
Thanks for all the great videos. You’ve opened my eyes to so many different golf balls on the market. Wilson Zip is great. I need to try the Velocity and Profile next.
Yeah it's hard to beat the profile with its price point. I'm getting ready to put some velocities on my eBay page if you'd like to try a sleeve of them.
"Do you hate me? Do you want me to suck?" You cracked me up Nick! My late great older brother always played Pinnacle golf balls, couldn't talk him into even trying anything else. I wonder what he'd think of today's version, they seem to be so different from what he played back in the day.
He probably could’ve hit a rock about the same distance lol. I’m not old enough to have played them when they were that hard, but my dad still had one of the 2000s ones in his old cart bag that I tried, I usually play tm tour responses.
Many of these do play well. I find these and hit them at the range, they do feel very good and fly nice. I’m a Wilson guy! They have so many balls. I think many are test balls lol! Good stuff Nick thanks!
That's understandable. Just remember though that when you get better and you start to lose less per round, you have something to fall back on. Or I guess fall onto. 😁
Love the amount of content lately. Any chance of a review for the Callaway Hex Tour from Costco? They felt great to hit, and the price is pretty reasonable.
Greetings from Sweden and big ups for everything on this channel! Would you say that wilson zip even holds up för high swingspeeds? I play stiff/x-stiff shafts and a singledigit handicapper.
Hey that's awesome. Thank you so much. I feel like at that point you're going to overcompress the living heck out of it. I would try to stick to at least a medium firm compression. Preferably something in the mid 80s at least.
Precept came out with the Lady first and it developed a cult following with medium SS players but many men were reluctant to use a ball called Lady. So precept rebranded it as Laddie which is an Irish nickname
Wilson really knows what they're doing. I just got done looking through the numbers from today's golfer and Wilson has consistently posted in their top three every year
I had a set of Wilson D9 Game improvement. Just sold them and bought Mizuno 923 hot metal pro and have to say the D9 were easier to hit. The Mizunos hit very well.
I play the Wilson D 9 irons and the D9 hybrids are an incredible buy. Just picked up a new hybrid for $59 . I'll buy another to make sure I always have one , if discontinued. Thanks
Thank you for the reviews ive been using the calaway supersoft or chromesofts for the last 2 years and was always curious why id hit my gap wedge 140 with a pro V1 and 120 with a supersoft lol
Only an opinion. I reckon it should be the other way around. Supersofts go great off the driver and long clubs because they offer relatively low rpm. The trade off to this is as an example a Prov1 will spin at 7000 rpm off a 7 iron or at least that is the expectation. The supersofts will spin at circa 5000 rpm off the same club thus don't hold the green as well and will go further than say a Prov1. (These figures are assuming good strikes) So in point of fact 140 yards off a Gap Wedge using a Prov1 and only 120 using a supersoft with the same club almost does not sound right, unless of course you have thinned the Prov1 😂
Very informative review. I found the top flite and Pinnacle information especially interesting because like many I am sure thought it was still a rock. Great off the driver with good distance but zero spin off wedges with the ball just not having the required spin to stay on the green. The Wilson story, I have found numerous offerings in the rough at courses, duo soft, triad and staff. So I have tried them it's not like I am dismissing them without trying them. From my experience they are just too bouncy, soft covers on some, not sure if they are urethane or not but I just cannot control them. I use Tp5 not because I am a ball snob and it obviously is a real pain paying nearly £4 per ball but it is reflected in my score. They go well or as long as 2/3 piece balls off the longer clubs but offer exceptional spin off the shots into the greens. Also feeling like butter off the irons and putter is great. For beginners it doesn't really matter what ball is used in my opinion, harder ball less spin helps with slices. When beginners start actually caring about their scores a better ball is a must. Thanks for the thoughts on overlooked balls it was interesting
If you're playing the tp5, and that's the type of ball you enjoy, then the Wilson staff or staff x would be the only comparable thing. Playing the extremely soft 30 compression Duo would feel like a premium bouncy ball compared to that. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment. Helps the channel out a ton 😁😄
Another really underrated golf brand for some. I considered putting SRIxon in this list but most people really love them that I talk to. I don't think they get the credit that other major lines get though
Very nice review. I agree…Wilson Golf is underrated. I had a few left over sleeves of Volvik Crystal. Played 36 holes and still on the same sleeve. Any reviews from them?
They're both great golf balls. The zip ended up as number two in the super fast ended up as number three on our top 100 list. So you've got two of the top three balls you're testing. It'll definitely be hard to choose between them. Let me know what you end up deciding 😁
Blind guessing on your list, Laddie, Pinnacle Rush, Pinnacle Soft, Cut Red (bc some people have said they are bad but you haven’t had any issues with them - I haven’t either.)
I went to the Wilson Zip and they are 6-10 yards longer.....but not high lift off the driver. Currently I'm playing the Taylormade SpeedSoft, they are even longer with a higher launch on every club!
Definitely a big surprise of 2024. Never really have much luck with TaylorMade golf balls, but that speed soft really surprised me this year. People love it
I have Mizuno clubs now and they're cool, but I started with wilson staff irons and white graphite shafts when that's all I could afford. Got them brand new from dicks for $112 and was so happy. They were legit irons and I hit them a lot further than I do these mizunos. As far as golf balls go, I can tell a difference now but I'm not tied to a brand and like trying different kinds.
If your handicap is lower, and I mean high single digits, you can definitely swing fast enough to compress most x-rated golf balls. Depends on what features you're looking for. Mind telling me just a little about what your favorite aspects of a golf ball are? Spend, distance, greenside feel?
@GolfBallAddict Handicap is around a 12-14. If the ball is right I don't mind spending a little more. Probably a combination of both distance and feel around the green if that's possible. What do you mean by x-rated golf balls?
I personally enjoyed it too. I didn't get to use them for very long, never even got to do a test on them. But when I did play with them around or two I enjoyed them
I tested out the zip balls based on your top 10 review and have to totally agree. I have an average swing speed and they feel great off my irons and really enjoy them. Also a great value around $1 a ball.
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback on the zip. There are so many people sharing wonderful stories about it and it makes me really upset that they discontinued it.
Hey if it works at work. A lot of people just look at it and will not play it based on the look because they think it's cheap. The reality is, anyone who's hit this ball really seems to enjoy it
Nice channel! I subbed. Hey, Wilson defined “opinion leader” marketing back in the day. They benefitted from all the top pros playing their stuff, certainly in the 70s. My dad had a beautiful set of blades with a custom bag and cart. Ironic today they are considered the opposite.
Based on your top 100 I started using the Wilson Zip. (FromTaylormade Response and t5). It gave me distance, and the touch around the green is even better for me. And to be honest I am always looking for value. It has that in spades, cost and performance.
I found a Wilson in the woods on Sunday. Not sure which model. But I drove that ball 260 yards consistently, and it survived the longest before finding itself at the bottom of a pond
What are your thoughts on the MAXFLI Tour-X? I tried this ball as a lower cost alternative to my Callaway Crome Soft balls and was pleasantly surprised by the overall performance.
Been hitting Wilson Zips for years and love them. Have hot other brands (Callaway Diablo, top flite gamer, maxfli pro/ bit always have a dozen or two of Zips on the shelf. Also play Wilson Ci 11 irons and don't want to say anything else. Great company and equipment.
For the longest time, I looked right past the Wilson brand. This spring, though, I got a great deal on some previous-year Wilson Staff Model balls, and I love them! Even on sale, though, they're more than twice as expensive as the Kirkland, and I'm not convinced that they're twice as good.
Wilson makes a lot of great stuff, I especially liked the $20 set of 1993 Staff Ultra 45s I picked up last year, they were way ahead of the curve in performance. That said, I found the Chaos balls to be among my least favorite balls to play. Top Flite Bombs and XL Distance always seemed to work better for me
I truly enjoy the 2024 Wilson Staff Model for my game. Wilson is kind of between and a rock and a hard place with the pricing on this new model though. I performs as well as a Pro V1 and my game ball for years, Srixon Z Star. Vert good videos, keep up the great work.
Appreciate the love. $50 per dozen is definitely on that line, but when they run the buy to get one free it's an incredible deal. I'll definitely be stocking up when they run that
I agree 100%! This is how I began playing the Srixon Z Star balls - their buy 2 get 1 free around Father’s Day. These are also very good balls at about $2.80 per ball (when running deals).
I can say that you will be pleasantly surprised about this years Staff ball. I switched to them (due to your advice but also buy 2 get 1 free) and love the feel off of the club and spin around the greens. Also a Wilson fan boy here as my whole bad is now Wilson in one form or another....
Thanx for recognizing Wilson Golf equipment. I played the D7 Forged a few years ago, then switched to the Miz JPX 923 Tours for more consistency. I then got a chance to play the Wilson Staff CBs, best iron I have ever used. Better feeling and more forgiveness than the JPX Tours. Love Wilson clubs.
I really want to go to a fitting just so I can try out those new Wilson clubs. It's like an addiction. I'm feening to hit those blades. Probably won't buy them because I can't hit them consistently, but I just want to test drive 😄
Hey my friend, I was laughing out loud when you talked about the hate on Wilson. I have experienced that many times, to the point that I just ignore the ignorance tossed on to Wilson. I started playing as a kid in the 1960's and at that time Wilson was the TaylorMade, Ping, Callaway all rolled up into one. They were huge and had an incredible position in the world of golf. It wasn't until the 1980's that the company was sold and went through many years of decline and marketing disasters. I am so happy they are making fantastic clubs and are on their way back. And since they don't have pros pitching their products their prices are excellent. I play the DynaPower Driver and fairway woods and would not trade them for anything. My favorite ball is the Wilson Duo Soft, incredible feel, performance, and they bite on the greens. Distance is a little above what I get with my other favorite the Vice Pro (older version). The Wilson Staff is also excellent but a little harder to compress for me. BTW, I love your adidas shirt - nice design. I like to collect adidas golf apparel and wear their golf shoes as well. Please keep bringing us superior content. I always look forward to your next video.
Thank you very much for all the love. I appreciate you sharing your experience as well. Thank you lol. Adidas stuff is easy to come by because they provide for the golf course I work at. I definitely am not complaining 😁
I can't speak for the golf ball, but my first set of clubs were Wilson San Snead Signature woods and Dynapower Wilson Staff irons back in the 1960's. Wilson has been around forever. Snead played with them his whole life. Wilson has made quality clubs for a long time. It's just that they are overshadowed by every other brand. So it would not be surprising to see them make a decent golf ball.
Kinda surprised Wilson gets crapped on in Golf. In tennis - Wilson (for the longest time) is #1. Federer used Wilson. It's so strange to see it get looked at differently in golf.
You're 100% right. Also look at basketball, football, many professional sports use Wilson stuff. In baseball, The Wilson a2000 glove is considered the holy grail. It's all part of that marketing jargon.
As a cost-conscious golfer, I believe you get what you pay for. From golf equipment to golf shoes, durability is a factor. So I play Titleist golf balls simply because they last and don't scuff as often as some of the lower to mid-price golf balls. Your numbers on your golf monitor are impressive but how durable are these golf balls? I tried some the Wilson staff golf ball and was surprised by the results however i find i am using 3 to 4 golf balls during the round due to cuts from wedge shots or playing out of the bunker. Is the value really worth trading down if your using more balls per round?
Durability is definitely one of the big factors I test on my channel. Surprising enough, the tour level golf balls aren't as durable as they used to be. They started using proprietary blends and changing up how they cover their golf balls in an effort to get cheaper. This is caused a lot of golf balls, such as callaway, and yes even the Titleist Pro V1, to only get eight out of 10s or even seven out of 10s on durability on the channel. Surprising enough, they're quite a few direct to consumer brands that do extremely well with their ability. I am currently testing the Max fly balls and they have some of the best durability on the market. I think the line of thinking you have is actually a really smart one, you're absolutely right but if you're using four golf balls a round the price doesn't equal out. However it's just not the case it used to be that tour level balls have the best durability.
@GolfBallAddict thank you for the follow-up. I am new to your channel and your content is spot on for golfers like me. I have been experimenting with Bridgestone tour B Rxs and Callaway Tour Gold Box. I am looking to shave those last 5 strokes to shoot consistently in the low 80s. I am comfortable knowing I will never break 80 but i am fine with it. A question for you. I notice golf balls have a heavy side and lite side when you putt. I discovered this using the check n go ball marker. In your opinion, are some of these low end golf balls core show abnormal core balance? Even off the tee, i find placing the heavy side down, the ball flies straighter and while putting it, the heavy side down, allows the ball to roll further. I wonder have you tried looking at this and how much stroke you can shave off your game?
Wilson duo optix. Found one and loved it Pinnacle rush 2 free boxes given to me and they’re the perfect ball to hit near water. You don’t mine losing em Top flite xl. That thing is a rock and I’ll never play it again.
@@GolfBallAddict 3 months ago when I started. I also gravitated to the callaway super soft very quickly. But I’m growing frustrated with the lack of spin on approach. So I’m trying out others now
@@GolfBallAddict I am now a Snell believer because of you. I have given away Snell balls to freinds in my Senior Leagues to try, and now they are Snell users. Thanks again.
@@GolfBallAddict The forged irons are amazing. I ended up with Titleist TSr driver. I got it on sale, it wasn't much more than the Wilson. I could have gone Wilson all the way and been fine with it.
the Wilson hate comes from the box sets at Walmart. There is Wilson and then there is Wilson Staff. I would putt Wilson Staff up against anything on the market. Just a complete quality lineup across the entire run of clubs and balls. Playing tournaments with last years wilson staff model ball got some looks and some older players excited to see it back on the course so there is still a nostalgia for the brand from players old enough to remember when the tours where littered with that red staff bag
Great insight. Thank you so much for watching and sharing. I think if they continue to do that and run the buy two get one free every once in awhile it will help get the brand back out there. I think they're on a great path
Very underrated. Even myself when I was testing it had zero expectations and next thing you know it's a top five golf ball. That's why I love golf ball so much, 😅
I play topflite new version they are ok The precept laddie golf balls have always been great balls I will try the pinnacle rush ,thanks for the reviews they are great
I've been playing the vice pro and callaway chrome soft but I am looking for something more affordable... going to have to give the laddie and zip a test!
After returning to golf from a long break, I figured I'd just buy a bunch of ProV1's and throw them in the woods and water hazards trying to get that one awesome shot off of the tee. After all, they are the only "real" golf ball right? Luckily, before I could do that I stumbled across your channel and quickly became a huge fan of your evaluation process. That led me to holding off on throwing away the ProV1's and instead I gave Wilson a try. After realizing you were right about the lack of forgiveness of the Triads, I reluctantly and discreetly bought some Wilson Zips. I knew I was going to hate the things, but figured I'd try them anyways. Man I could not have been more wrong about the Zips. I've played them side by side with the Triads and the few feet of distance I loose on perfect hits is more than made up for by the forgiveness and consistency of the Zips. They have become my favorite golf ball and I've already stocked up on them now that they are going the way of the dodo. Here's hoping Wilson brings them back under a different name or something. Thanks again for the great content, helping me to drop strokes with the Zips, and keeping me from injuring countless woodland critters with shanked ProV1's. Now you just need to help us find the Zips successor lol.
22 years ago I was hitting Wilson Pro Staff CONTROL balls. At that time they were $13 for 15 balls. In my opinion they played like balata balls. In the 3 years after playing them, and I played almost 4 times a week, I went from a 20+ handicap to an 11 handicap. As a 20-+ HC, I could SPIN the ball. I lost no distance driving the ball(I could drive it 300+) and the FEEL was euphoric! Then it went away and now I'm sad. THAT BALL WAS FANTASTIC! The ONLY drawback on that ball was endurance, but @ $13 for 15, what's the problem?
Not related to the video, but what is your recommendation for a golf ball within a 75-90 mph swing speed? I tried the Vice Pro Air, and I loved them, but $60 CAD for 12 is really expensive, and I lose at least 3 balls a round.
I apologize for asking this, but I'm a little ignorant when it comes to the availability of certain golf balls in canada. Would you mind shooting me an email? golfballaddict@gmail.com If you could just shoot me that email and let me know some of the balls that are easily accessible to you, as well as kind of what you're looking for I will gladly give you some recommendations.
First of all, thank you so much for watching and welcome to the channel. We're glad to have you here. Your timing could not be any better. That's the line we are currently reviewing. I just got done reviewing the maxfli tour and tour s. Tomorrow should be the x model. Don't want to give anything away but one of them broke quite a few records 😎
Don't let the marketing fool you
Be sure to try the DynaForge irons. They may just be the best non bladed pro irons on the planet.
I love my Wilson putter. I’ve put a really good super stroke grip on it and it feels great. The ball comes off straight the weight is nice.
@@CamMacMastermusic I have them they are some of the best out there.
I heard Wilson is much better received in EU than US, it really is a marketing decision like most of these balls
Love the Wilson Staff and Staff X , i’m 63 yrs old and am a 4 hcp ."… was a ProV1 golfer, but discovered them 2 Yrs ago and never looked back…awesome solid ball.
Pair that with a buy two get one free they run a couple times a year and it's an even more amazing deal
I'm 79 years old and play Wilson Dyna Power irons using Wilson Duo Soft golf balls. Amazing combination for an old guy!!!
Just hitting rocket launchers all day long 😁🏌️♂️⛳
I loved my Dynapower red dots back in the day.
Wilson is the Nickelback of golf. People hate on them for no reason, but end up liking them in the end lol.
That's actually a pretty fair comp. Crazy how the public opinion can be swayed and no one really knows what the cause of the sway was 😂
Nickelback is more like old top flite. The name is familiar but once you use them you realize that they are isht
You're very welcome. Hopefully we can find a decent replacement before they are sold out forever
I stumbled across the Wilson Dou Soft about ten years ago. More bang for the buck than anything out there. Give them a try, you'll be glad you did.
Nice. There are a lot of people that really love the Wilson triad. Definitely an amazing ball if you prefer a tour feel
With you on that one. I play off 9.7 and recently switched to Triads after a YT video (perhaps Shiels or Robinson?) and I absolutely love them.
Congratulations on being back in the game.
That's awesome about the wedges. Wilson products seem to keep there performance longer than other clubs.
Extremely underrated. I am constantly telling people how great they are and everyone is shocked
Great stuff! I completely agree about Wilson being underrated across the board. I just bought my fist box of Zips because of your recommendation. Looking forward to trying them out.
Please let me know how you end up liking them. We will have to find a replacement since they are now being discontinued 😔
I used mine for well over 2 years and even when people asked about it they ended up loving it also
@@GolfBallAddictFor sure 👍🏼 I had a couple ask me what putter is that? Then they hit and are like 99 buck? I’ve got to get one 😂
Thank you very much for taking the time to watch and comment. I appreciate the feedback 😃
Thank you so much. Appreciate the love and commenting. Any help for the channel is really appreciated and I couldn't do it without you guys 😁
I made the switch to the Wilson Tour this year too and I absolutely LOVE them!! The Triad is great too!! I don’t know what or how they mix their yellow, but it might be the easiest to see!
Nice. I've had many people tell me they love the new tour. I cannot wait to test them
I bought Wilson smart cores a few years ago as a joke because of the crazy story on the box “reacts to your swing speed”.
I have always loved Laddies ever since Precept came out with the concept. I slowed my swing down and improved significantly with them.
I put them in the bag, love ´em
I think they're for higher swing speeds. The marketing blurb states they're not for beginners but for those with a decent swing speed. I love them.
Well said. We're rocking the Wilson Triad (as senior
Nice. Thank you very much for taking the time to watch and comment.
Wilson staff 50. Perfect for my swing speed
I'm glad it turned out really well
Congrats on 10k subscribers! I think I was like number 380. I knew you would get to at least 10k subscribers back then.
Thank you very much. I'm honestly speechless that I reach that number. Never thought I would get there but now who knows what the limit is 😃
I've been playing Wilson Zips for several years and have found few balls that truly compare when it comes to price and performance.
I forgot about that six piece golf ball. I definitely need to still try to review that if they still make it.
Great video! I’m playing OnCore vero x1 still but I am going to try staff ball this week!! Fantastic information!
Profile is amazing, more forgiving than the velocity for me. Velocity is great when struck well tho
LOL thank you I appreciate the love.
They definitely seemed a lot firmer and harder back in the day. Who knows maybe he'd like the squishiness 😁
He probably could’ve hit a rock about the same distance lol. I’m not old enough to have played them when they were that hard, but my dad still had one of the 2000s ones in his old cart bag that I tried, I usually play tm tour responses.
@@Gliese710_ That's all they were, surlyn covered rocks. The tour response is a good ball for the masses.
Many of these do play well. I find these and hit them at the range, they do feel very good and fly nice. I’m a Wilson guy! They have so many balls. I think many are test balls lol! Good stuff Nick thanks!
As always thank you very much. Appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and comment.
*Great review--- thanks. Wilson 50 is a good compressed ball also. 😊
Didn't have very much luck with the last version but the new version is supposed to be a little better
I really will just buy Wilson. Budget friendly and high quality. Absolute banger of a golf company
Very budget friendly. And the clubs just reek of sophistication
I also loved those Tour X Mizunos. I was just starting last year and couldn't afford to buy them as I lost too many a round.
That's understandable. Just remember though that when you get better and you start to lose less per round, you have something to fall back on. Or I guess fall onto. 😁
Amazon Prime day had Zips 2 for 1. Haven’t played it yet but because of the top golf ball vid, can’t wait to try them out this weekend.
That's awesome. Cannot beat that deal. Please let me know how you end up liking them
Love the amount of content lately. Any chance of a review for the Callaway Hex Tour from Costco? They felt great to hit, and the price is pretty reasonable.
It's in line for sure. Definitely will be coming in the next month or so
Greetings from Sweden and big ups for everything on this channel!
Lol correct. I love that story. After that, a star was born. 😁
I love Wilson. I have their forged D9 irons which are absolutely sumptuous. And I now use the wilson Triad as it's such a good all round ball.
Wilson really knows what they're doing. I just got done looking through the numbers from today's golfer and Wilson has consistently posted in their top three every year
Been playing Wilson irons for 40 years. Play the Wilson Duo balls since I discovered them 10 years ago. Never had a reason to change.
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
The Wilson Staff Tour x + are the best golf balls we ever made. Haven’t released them to the public yet though.
How do you get them? Pros only I assume?
"We"?
I had a set of Wilson D9 Game improvement. Just sold them and bought Mizuno 923 hot metal pro and have to say the D9 were easier to hit. The Mizunos hit very well.
I believe that. I hear Wilson clubs are so easy to pick up and hit.
I play the Wilson D 9 irons and the D9 hybrids are an incredible buy. Just picked up a new hybrid for $59 . I'll buy another to make sure I always have one , if discontinued. Thanks
That's awesome. I don't blame you at all for finding something that works really well and sticking with it.
Thank you for the reviews ive been using the calaway supersoft or chromesofts for the last 2 years and was always curious why id hit my gap wedge 140 with a pro V1 and 120 with a supersoft lol
All about finding a ball you compress well, love the feel, and works for your swing
I used to play Wilson DX2, still have a few, really good golf balls.
I have a few different brands in my bag but my go to ball is Srixon ZStar XV
Another really underrated golf brand for some. I considered putting SRIxon in this list but most people really love them that I talk to. I don't think they get the credit that other major lines get though
Very nice review. I agree…Wilson Golf is underrated. I had a few left over sleeves of Volvik Crystal. Played 36 holes and still on the same sleeve. Any reviews from them?
No not yet. I just don't get a ton of requests for volvik balls so they end up getting sandbagged for later
The Zip is good! Playing with that and Callaway Superfast lately. Trying to figure out which I like better. 16 HCP and a slow swing speed.
That's all I can always tell you definitely seen every video I've done. Your guesses are always top notch
Mizuno game improvement irons are honestly just all right when it comes to feel.
Fairly new to the channel, loving the content. Have a driver swing speed at around 105, any suggestions on a ball.
The old top flight D2 (dimple in dimple) was amazing. Great spin soft feel good distance
I personally enjoyed it too. I didn't get to use them for very long, never even got to do a test on them. But when I did play with them around or two I enjoyed them
Try the top flite hammer control. It's all I play. They have the same dimples and feel like the same ball to me as the D2.
Thank you. Never paid mch attention to the balls but I thin you have opened my eye. Will buy some precept laddies.
Absolutely. We're building a great community on this channel that helps others find amazing golf balls at great prices.
I play precept Laddie everyday and love them. One of the greatest golfers I’ve met played this ball. The late great Dave Simms.
I'll tell you what I would love to go try some Wilson blades right now. I doubt I would be able to hit them but they are so darn sexy LOL
@@GolfBallAddict no kidding!
Based on your top 100 I started using the Wilson Zip. (FromTaylormade Response and t5). It gave me distance, and the touch around the green is even better for me. And to be honest I am always looking for value. It has that in spades, cost and performance.
That's awesome. I'm glad you really enjoy it. What an amazing golf ball
I found a Wilson in the woods on Sunday. Not sure which model. But I drove that ball 260 yards consistently, and it survived the longest before finding itself at the bottom of a pond
Lol normally any other brand of golf ball I would be able to narrow it down, but Wilson has like a gazillion model over the last few years lol
@@GolfBallAddict I think it was a profile distance
What are your thoughts on the MAXFLI Tour-X? I tried this ball as a lower cost alternative to my Callaway Crome Soft balls and was pleasantly surprised by the overall performance.
I'm currently in the middle of testing Max fly golf balls. Just got done with the tour and the tour s. The tour x is next
Good stuff. Thanks so much for watching and sharing!😀
Hi Bob from Australia great video. I'm a 22 handicap golfer I play titleist velociti just wondering your opinion on them
Hey Bob how's it going.
I do enjoy the Titleist velocity. It comes off a little low but it's extremely fast off the club and very straight.
For the longest time, I looked right past the Wilson brand. This spring, though, I got a great deal on some previous-year Wilson Staff Model balls, and I love them! Even on sale, though, they're more than twice as expensive as the Kirkland, and I'm not convinced that they're twice as good.
I'm so tempted to go try a bunch of Wilson clubs. I love them so much as far as the look and I hope they feel as good as they look
My go to ball is the Wilson Staff Duo. Also like the Wilson Zip.
Both fantastic golf balls. But Wilson said being continued is the saddest story of 2024 in the golf ball world
Wilson makes a lot of great stuff, I especially liked the $20 set of 1993 Staff Ultra 45s I picked up last year, they were way ahead of the curve in performance. That said, I found the Chaos balls to be among my least favorite balls to play. Top Flite Bombs and XL Distance always seemed to work better for me
I'm not a fan of the bomb because it's just so darn firm and clicky. However the XL distance really was a bright spot
This is the Doug DeMuro of golf
In the early 2000s, I used to use Precept Ladys. They seemed extra springy.
They still do. They have so much spring to them. They're so fun to hit and they have pack so much forgiveness
Love your reviews you have inspired me to start reviewing balls.
Hey that's awesome! Best of luck man😃
I can say that you will be pleasantly surprised about this years Staff ball. I switched to them (due to your advice but also buy 2 get 1 free) and love the feel off of the club and spin around the greens. Also a Wilson fan boy here as my whole bad is now Wilson in one form or another....
Nice! That is excellent news to hear. I cannot wait to try them out
I swear by the Wilson SmartCore. This ball is resilient, provides distance off the tee, and is soft around the green.
We are getting ready to test that one soon. I'm super excited 😁
I play Wilson irons and putter and balls. Love them all. Very underrated.
Absolutely. I truly believe they're underrated in every single aspect of what they do
Hey my friend, I was laughing out loud when you talked about the hate on Wilson.
Great video, have you tried any Seed balls yet? I'm currently playing the SD-01 seems to be a great all round ball.
I recently tested the seed 05. The prosoft model. I was pretty decently impressed but it's not the right ball for me. I think I need the pro
@@GolfBallAddictyeah the SD-01 is their pro v1 equivalent but for £25 a dozen!
So true what you said about time. The 90’s feel like yesterday😢
I know. I can't believe I graduated thirteen years ago. Where does the time go
You have an excellent channel, I don’t always agree with your opinions, but I do enjoy your content.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate that.
Back in the day they really were the bee's knees. All the big tour players were using them and stuck with them throughout
I still game the D9 Forged after trying multiple Pings, Talylormades, and Mizunos for the last couple of years.
I don't blame you. They make good stuff.
Cut Red for me, and not a single issue of cover cutting/splitting. They’ve fixed that evidently 😅
That's good to hear. I cannot wait to give cut another review
Found one and loved it
Pinnacle rush 2 free boxes given to me and they’re the perfect ball to hit near water. You don’t mine losing em
Top flite xl. That thing is a rock and I’ll never play it again.
How long ago did you play it? The XL distance nowadays are pretty soft and comparison.
@@GolfBallAddict 3 months ago when I started. I also gravitated to the callaway super soft very quickly. But I’m growing frustrated with the lack of spin on approach. So I’m trying out others now
What about Snell? As an “off” brand, I think they do the best job to match swing speeds to ball types. Love the 3.0.
I love snell, but I rarely find anyone who has anything bad to say about them. Most people if they have heard of them, love them.
@@GolfBallAddict I am now a Snell believer because of you. I have given away Snell balls to freinds in my Senior Leagues to try, and now they are Snell users. Thanks again.
I'm playing the Triad and Dynapower Forged irons. I almost bought the Dynapower woods, they were very close to Titelist for me.
I'm all in on Wilson for the next season. I'm trying to get a hold of one of their reps now.
I’ve played the Laddie Xtreme for many years. I tried every mid-price ball from every company and I’ve never found one better than the Laddie.
Very underrated. Even myself when I was testing it had zero expectations and next thing you know it's a top five golf ball. That's why I love golf ball so much, 😅
Started playing the Zip and for the money they are good. I love them off the irons, but i definitely perfer other balls around the green.
Perfectly understandable. Wish they weren't discontinued😔
@@GolfBallAddict crazy that discontinued such a good ball
Was looking to try the Wilson Zip ball but discovered it is no longer in production so little point in trying it out as a long term option.
Yeah agreed. It's definitely disappointing considering the fan base it has following it.
Can you do a video explaining the difference between 2 piece and 3 piece balls and the advantages and disadvantages of each?
Yes I can. I have a series coming out soon
I play topflite new version they are ok
The precept laddie golf balls have always been great balls
I will try the pinnacle rush ,thanks for the reviews they are great
Thank you so much for the positive feedback. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment.
I've been playing the vice pro and callaway chrome soft but I am looking for something more affordable... going to have to give the laddie and zip a test!
Honestly if you're used to playing firmer golf balls like those, you might try the Pinnacle Rush as well.
@@GolfBallAddict will add it to the list!
Way back in the day in the 80s abd 90s i could carry driver 275 using a Precept lady ball. Many people were and thats why the laddie came out.
I've heard about that. That's pretty cool how that all went down. Still an amazing golf ball to this day
After returning to golf from a long break, I figured I'd just buy a bunch of ProV1's and throw them in the woods and water hazards trying to get that one awesome shot off of the tee.
LOL thank you for this amazing story. It's comments like this that really make all this hard work worth it in the end. 😃
That's incredible. At that price I wouldn't care about the ball not lasting as long
@@GolfBallAddict I didn't. 😉
Love your channel!
Thank you so much. I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment as well. Helps a ton!
I have used Wilson balls for years. I love them!
Do you have a favorite in particular?
Not related to the video, but what is your recommendation for a golf ball within a 75-90 mph swing speed?
I tried the Vice Pro Air, and I loved them, but $60 CAD for 12 is really expensive, and I lose at least 3 balls a round.
I apologize for asking this, but I'm a little ignorant when it comes to the availability of certain golf balls in canada. Would you mind shooting me an email? golfballaddict@gmail.com
If you could just shoot me that email and let me know some of the balls that are easily accessible to you, as well as kind of what you're looking for I will gladly give you some recommendations.
@@GolfBallAddict Will do! Thank you!
First time seeing you, good stuff! I’m hearing a lot of chatter about how great the Maxfi sold at Dicks Sporting Goods. Thoughts on that ball?
First of all, thank you so much for watching and welcome to the channel. We're glad to have you here.
Your timing could not be any better. That's the line we are currently reviewing. I just got done reviewing the maxfli tour and tour s. Tomorrow should be the x model. Don't want to give anything away but one of them broke quite a few records 😎
