Hey, i am going to get my license next year and for my first car i am going to get a 2012 Toyota 86GT, and do you know any good websites that got car parts for the car?
I can definitely see the benefits and the appeal of getting the auto version. Everyone will be able to drive it, and if you want a little bit more control, you can do so with the paddle shifters. And in sport mode it actually doesn't sound half bad! A lot of automatics sound really distinctive and not as cool as manual, but the BRZ seems to get the sound close. Personally I went with manual just because it's what I found, and I didn't want to let it stop me from getting a good car and learning a new skill. So I learned on my car and I don't regret it one bit!
Yup. Love mine, when you throw it in sport and manual it doesn’t feel like you’re missing out on anything! And It’s a cool touch that you’re able to shift with the stick too. Most of my friends who have driven my car have no idea how to use it properly and start judging it after driving a few minutes on regular drive, but then I teach them how to use sport + manual and their opinions completely change lol. Plus you have the convenience of regular drive when you’re feeling super lazy
I got an automatic 2020 86 GT. Went with auto because I don't have experience with manuals and I live in an area with some of the worst traffic in the county and I needed it to be my daily driver because I can't afford to have two cars. Honestly as much as I think I would enjoy driving manual, the fact that an auto lets me choose between letting it shift for me and manually shifting it myself is what makes it so much more daily drivable. It might be slower to 60, but honestly unless you're doing illegal street racing or taking it to the track all the time, who TF cares?
Same, I never even been inside a manual car , everything is just automatic so it’s great for me lol ignorance is bliss , if I don’t know what I’m missing out on I can’t get upset

Toyota is actually very interested in pushing automatic transmissions for this car. All the publications and critics agree that auto 86 is stiffer than manual 86 in Japan. Stiffness order of the car goes like, 86 auto, 86 manual, BRZ manual, BRZ auto in Japan. Toyota really wants the auto to do well even in trucks. As a GT86 owner, I can confirm that I do have it as an Automatic. This video shows an appreciation, because Manual can be fun too, but it’s based on someone’s preference if they want an Auto. Honestly, even if Manual is more of a driver-like feeling, there’s another way of a Racing driver’s feeling which is the paddle shifters in modern Automatic cars, the one that modern racing cars have as their Sequential transmissions. The only drawback of an Auto 86 is the Automatic gearbox itself is heavier than the Manual. But I don’t want to care about the weight since I gave it a Borla exhaust upgrade. So thank you very much, brother. 👌🏻 P.S.: Manual fanboys are being toxic asf. Don’t worry, I can drive a Manual too.
In the old days, manuals got better gas mileage and were much more reliable, and usually only needed a new clutch if they did fail. Most do not change automatic transmission fluid often enough now for the best reliability.

All of them have it, but mines an 18. Take a look at my civic si vs this 86 video
I got an automatic gr86 but the car community makes you feel so unsure and insecure in your choice that I’m thinking of trading it in.
Who cares what others think man drive what you like. Those people obviously think that it’s just a normal sloppy automatic transmission anyways.
is it same for the pre-facelift models?
Yes
Hi, I want to ask how the machine and drift are doing?
How does the car handle in winter ?
Could not say! we don't really see any changes besides cooler temps
I daily drive a brz, I usually bring a shovel with me during the winter lol. I even had the best winter tires on
Im diving into this part of my car. Is this bad for your engine? Whenever I drive it in sports mode, the sounds it makes when it shifts makes me a little nervous haha
No it’s not! All it does is downshift and shift a bit sharper
@@nikolaiiaksenov even when it kicks a little? Others say its the traction control that cause that. 🤔
@@thatoneguy8801 what do you mean by kicks? Like tires loose traction?
@@nikolaiiaksenov whenever it changes gear there is a light kick. Thanks for the replies btw😅👍
@@thatoneguy8801 haha that is probably just the car being aggressive! And of course! :)

WHY is the manual a more fun car ??
Got an Automatic 2023 BRZ Limited for my daily driver here in Socal. There is no way to drive manual as a daily driver here and be comfortable.
Put 4.58 gears in it and it will rock
I daily a Nismo z, used to have an auto z but sold that junk and got myself a manual Nismo, couldn’t be happier
Auto has better fuel economy and should be more reliable in the long run (no clutch to wear out). 👍
how much more does it save in average?
Also can you drift in auto?
36 mpg?! 🤯🤯🤯 what is mpg? 😅😅
lollll benefits of the auto!
what exhaust?
Mxp
With traffic on the daily im not taking chances 😂 auto matic for me ONLY
What is your exhaust setup?
Mxp comp rs. have a vid on my channel over it
I can’t find one
I don't care about the car you're gorgeous
bro
Anyone have experience with Turbo kits on Auto GT86?
Not the same as owning a manual. To each their own.
Not the same but its the best of both worlds.
Kept waiting for the sound and never heard anything lol. I just bought one of these and I can’t consider it a sports can if I can’t clutch kick in a turn to catch a slide. I have a lot to learn but stock is the way to go unless you don’t like to play around in it. But at the end of the day choose what works for you!
the autos are also not blowing up 😂 one more reason to get AT.
Automatic with the power to shift it when you want ? ? Why get a manual 🤣
If you’re not buying a car for performance and speed, don’t plan on racing or modding the motor too much then get an automatic.
thats a FALSE statement.
My MKIV Supra is 900 whp with a built Automatic transmission ... Are you saying its not for performance and speed ??
@@ACommenterOnTH-cam that’s a legendary vehicle this is a video about a car that’s has a slower 0-60 than a Honda Odyssey in 2022 incomparable champ
@@Babaloots my comment was telling you that you CAN race and modify the motor even in an automatic.
You seem to think that automatic cant me raced or modified.
Automatic can be a lazy daily driver and it can also be a 6 second 1/4 mile monster.
To fully enjoy this car the way it was designed is to get it in standard.
Fair!
Not true
ayo wanna race auto vs auto
My Moms Honda Pilot
Your Brz/86/frs 😂
lollll
