- Here we can see some footages of what could be seen on Saturday during the 2023 edition of Militracks, the biggest gathering of WW2 german military vehicles in the world. It takes place at the Overloon War Museum in the Netherlands.
Included in this video are : Tiger (a real one!), Nashorn, Sturmgeschütz III, Bergehezter, Sd.Kfz 251, Sd.Kfz 250, Sd.Kfz 9 Famo, Sd.Kfz 10, Sd.Kfz 7, Sd.Kfz 6, Horch 901, Kübelwagen, Kübelwagen Typ 62, Schwimmwagen Typ 166, Schwimmwagen Typ 128, Zündapp KS750, Kettenkrad, Famo Boxer Schlepper, Scheuch Schlepper, Stoewer M12RW, BMW R12, Hanomag Einheits PKW, Mercedes 170VK, Wander W11 12-60, Skoda Super 952, Opel Maultier, Opel Blitz...
Absolutely amazing to see these vehicles still running!
Just think how hard it is to keep them running when something goes wrong

I was there, and man was that a great event. Its a shame i didnt get to see the tiger move.
the tiger move was kinda fake news. They had the 3 SdKfzs in front of it, moved 2meters then something went wrong and they drove 1 meter back. Thats it. Then they turned the turrets. the end :D kinda disappointing

LOOOVED IT. Was only able to drive the Famo, SdKfz 10 and 251 because all the Nashorn, Hetzer and Stug tickets were sold out in the first 5 minutes after opening. Wish they would have done it another way.
Unbelievable, that these machines still work perfectly today.
"Perfectly" man i gotta tell you, the nashorn broke down on the first lap of the day.
Thats done thru lots of work on them. they need constant pampering.

Great event. Was my second time there and for sure not the last time. So much more fun seeing those gems move than standing static in some museum.

Those Famo's are hilarious. They are so massive, even the steering wheels are huge. They look like a kid took a 1/16th scale toy and put a bunch of 1/35 scale action figures in it. 🤣🤣🤣
Put uniforms on everyone and this would be a very accurate scene out of a WW2 movie.

Incredibly rare German WW2 vehicles, and great to see them still running so well after 80+ years. But not so good when full of middle-aged people in jeans and sunglasses and kids. What an opportunity is being missed - to dress the vehicles with camouflage/branches, etc. and only crew them with people in reproduction uniforms! They don't have to display swastikas, but it would look so much more authentic and great for photos. Tankfest here in the UK get it right, with reeanactors and recreations of WW2 uniforms.

The fact that is a Tiger 1 Ausf E is amazing. Also, is it going to be running again? Cause Tiger 131 is a Tiger 1 Ausf H due to the wheels at the copula (idk if I got that right) is different between the Ausf H and Ausf E variants of the Tiger 1
Ye! Well, 131 isn't an H1 just because of the cupola and wheels, but also because of the transmission (I believe the Ausf. E got a better reverse gear ~13km/h while the Ausf. H1 could only go ~8km/h reverse), engine (However 131 has a Jagdpanther Maybach HL230 P30 TRM instead of its original Maybach HL210 P45 TRM) and internal electronics (Idk what the difference is).
Also yes! Would be amazing if they get that Tiger up and running again! It looks beautiful, especially with it (visually) being a complete Ausf. E model (including the muzzle brake!), having spare tracks in probably the coolest places (maximises armour, tracks are basically just +31mm of armour, this means that an M4A3E8 "easy eight" can now only get through its upper front plate by the very middle!) And looking like it's gonna get some zimmerit! Plus the paint isn't painfully saturated and glossy like 131s unfortunately is...

Makes one wonder if humans spent as much time loving and helping one another as they have in building and designing weapons. where society would be today. Sad that wars advanced technology and not just people trying to help each other.
I love old war vehicles but a whole lot of people died due to them. Sad when you think about it, Why we kill each other. Anyways life ain't forever and pondering why humans do things doesn't stop nothing. I do enjoy seeing the vehicles and learning about them. It's just sad why they were created. Don't see replies.
The tiger must not have been fully restored, no engine or parts of the transmission im guessing. Only ones I know that run are at bovington and Australian Armour and Artillery Museums. I suppose there's more somewhere.
Never knew that there was a Berge-Hetzer. I'm familiar with the other ones, but not a hetzer variant.

The StuG and Hetzers are family friendly tanks,
When riding, do you get to choose which vehicle to sit in, or are they assigned to you?
You have to pay. Half-tracks (Famo, Sd.kfz 7 etc), cars, Opel Blitz... are the cheapest vehicles. You have to wait in a row behind a fence and then you are assigned to one of them by a barker guy. Hetzer, Stug, Sd.kfz 251 are a little bit more expensive and tickets are limited. Most expensive are, if they participate, tanks like Panther or Tiger II (100€ when I was there a few years ago).

Yes I was thinking that too! Considering that the passengers are members of the public, with no restraints or seatbelts, some of these vehicles seemed to be going way too fast.

No Panther or Tiger II from Saumur? And why don't they invite the English guys with the operational Tiger 131?
The running hours of 131 are restricted because they fear wearing out parts of this precious tank. So it won't leave the Bovington museum except for a decent amount of Hollywood Dollars.

In the country of origin from this vehicles, it's unthinkable, to sit out of the tank, when driving, because to dangerous. German law's impede to enjoy (old) german cars.

Overloon is about 10 km / 6 miles from the German border. So German visitors can enjoy / see the WWII equipment in The Netherlands 🙂
