    Hey all, sorry to reupload but I made an editing error and couldnt just leave it.
    The Tiger I here belongs to a private collection and is under restoration. More info on it soon should I have the privilege of sharing such : )

    TIL Famo isn't just another half-track. It's an absolute unit. A great logistical partner for the Tiger.

      Big load to pull for a single famo didn't the wehrmacht have a rule that a tiger be pulled by 3 famo due to the weight

    • @eivindhelgetun3254
      @eivindhelgetun3254 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Indeed an absolute unit, but you can tell it's really struggling with the load in this clip. Goes straight despite trying to turn and track slippage in spots. If it was anywhere else but perfectly flat it wouldn't be able to do much.

      @@fw1421 The front wheels of the FAMO had the function of directing only small movements on the road. In fact, as you can see, they are not driving wheels (as for example in the American halftraks) and could very well be removed, without compromising either the mobility or the traction capacity of the vehicle. The same thing for all other German half-tracks, including KettenKrad.

    My father was driver on a Famo 1941 to '45. Now i can imagine, what work it was. Towing a Tiger with only one 18to is only possible in good road condition, mud, deep sand, hills need more of these big maschines.

    Thanks so much. She's right, this is very cool. Seeing this made my day. I know under tactical conditions, the Germans typically used three Famo 18 ton halftracks to recover a Tiger, but I wasn't aware that three working Famo halftracks still existed today. Wow.

  • @wingtip76

    I love this video! For just a moment, I could see German WW2 uniformed personel working on recovering a Tiger I then moving it closer to the rear to work on getting it back in the fight. Museums are fantastic but watching them operate is much better. Watching it in person you get the full experience with the smells, the dust, the sounds with the exception of hearing/watching gun practice.
