Netanyahu has 'lost the support of everybody' | James O'Brien on LBC

  • The Israeli military has sacked two senior officers over the drone strikes which killed seven aid workers including three Brits, saying soldiers made a 'grave mistake' and violated operating procedures.
The IDF said in a statement the strike 'should not have occurred'.
James O'Brien asks why Benjamin Netanyahu is continuing with the bombardment of Gaza 'when he has lost the support of everybody'.
This comes as civil servants threaten to stop work over arms sales to Israel.
Labour's Ellie Reeves told LBC that Rishi Sunak and David Cameron have 'sat on' legal advice over the matter for almost a month, adding Labour has been asking for it to be published.

They will get recognized as soon as Netanjahu and his clan is being investigated after he is removed from office, taken to court, being replaced by a sensible government and a two-state solution will be implemented. Then again I see the similarities between this and the war on Ukraine. First we need to get rid of the imperialist leader.

At 7pm local time (4:00pm GMT) on Sunday, a Russian Red Wings airline flight from the Israeli city of Tel Aviv landed at Makhachkala airport, according to Flightradar24.
Hundreds of protesters broke through security to make it to the runaway and inundate the area around the parked Russian carrier. Social media videos show crowd members breaking down glass doors and running through the airport. Some were also chanting anti-Jewish slogans, waving Palestinian flags or checking the passports of arriving passengers.
At about 10pm (19:00 GMT) the protesters were cleared from the runway, according to security officials.
The Israeli passengers were isolated and guarded, according to Israeli media outlets citing Israeli security officials.
The transiting flight took off for Moscow two hours after arrival, according to independent Russian media outlet Sota.
Early on Monday, Russia’s interior ministry said, “More than 150 active participants in the unrest have been identified, 60 of them have been arrested,” although it is not clear if any official charges have been issued yet, according to the Associated Press news agency.@@contact594

If Israel wanted their hostages back, all they had to do was trade the hostages they were holding with Hamas. It's not difficult to answer the question that you pose at the end of this piece: Netanyahu continues to pursue his genocidal policy in Gaza because it is a very popular policy amongst ordinary Israelis. People outside of Israel imagine that there is some kind of societal debate there about whether it is morally acceptable to keep killing Palestinian civilians in large numbers. Put simply, there isn't. Netanyahu is unpopular amongst many Israelis for other reasons, but on this issue, he is doing exactly what the vast majority of the Israeli public want him to do.

Why does the media pretend that it's only Netanyahu making decisions? The people voted the politicians in and a poll showed that over 90% of the citizens support the government's actions. The last 75 years clearly show that it's not a situation created by Netanyahu, but among others, continued by him. It’s not about individuals but the entire society.

Khamas changed their charyer some time ago and stated they would accept a state for Palestinians on the 1967 borders. It is Netanyahu who deliberately ignored this and with his "mowing of the lawn " approach that lost this opportunity for peace. When you actually do some research, you find information that never seems to filter through to the public domain.
