  • Paramedics are on the scene of a major crash as a result of a police chase. An innocent victim caught in the crash has potentially life changing spinal injuries and the paramedics are keen to rush him to A&E. Elsewhere, a man has collapsed in his garden and isn't communicating with the paramedics. Paramedics are concerned he has a serious heart complication.
For the very first time, an ambulance has been rigged with cameras that provide a unique perspective on what it's like to respond to emergency calls. 'Inside The Ambulance' follows paramedics from the West Midlands Ambulance Service in England as they take us right into the heart of the action. We see heroism at work in the actions of these first responders. We also enter the lives of people in crisis and learn their unique stories.

I'm a paramedic in the US, interesting to see how they handle calls. Our ambulances are so different. I really like that you give an update on patients that were transported, nice to know that they are going to be ok. Thank you for the well done videos. Be Blessed and stay safe. 🙏🇺🇸

What they don't say or show is on a normal night it can take hours for an ambulance to show up. You are getting the cleaned up and best view of how the system works.

One ambulance ride I remember (I’m also in the US), it was the last call of their shift and my mom needed transport home from hospital. I ended up sitting on the jump seat, the EMT balanced on the counter (it was luckily a very short run) and the battery on their laptop was about out. The charging port in the back didn’t work, so I ended up holding the laptop so it could plug into the cigarette lighter output in the cab while the EMT did his entries. I think the ambulance was as glad for the end of shift as the EMT’s were.

@@deb_ellen9733 WOW, don't know where that happened, and depending on how long ago it happened. Our ambulances are check out constantly and our computers are wired in, so they can't lose a charge. Bless you and your mother, it appears you were extremely helpful. I pray your mother is doing well. We don't let passengers sit in the bird seat, they have to sit up front in the passenger seat. Truly at a loss for words, hopefully the EMS there has been able to do some upgrades. Bless you and your family, stay safe.🙏

@@bani1046 Thank you for the information. I just commented on just what I saw. My EMS station covers an extremely large area, thank goodness it has never taken us that long to get anywhere. We house 6 ambulances. We have access to 3 hospitals. You be blessed and stay safe.

There is a perfect mix of what can happen to a body. Some emergencies are accidents, but Raymond needs shin guards! Hiring a young person to walk a spunky dog might be a good idea. Love this program and do deeply appreciate every kindness of patients and responders invested in the making of these valuable videos.😊

I've taken one emergency ambulance here in the USA and was not impressed. EMTs treated me like I was cattle. No compassion, no talking to me on the 30 minute ride to the ER. And I was charged $3,500.

I live in the US and have never had a bad experience. They got to us fairly quickly every time not over 15 mins. They have always been very nice and made sure I knew everything that was going on and what to expect once I got into the hospital. Even held my hand this last time because I was scared and in alot of pain. I'm 42. Yes, the bill is horrible but the people are great. The only difference is they ask all the questions while go to the ER they dont just sit there. They start on IV and go. Do everything else during the ride. I also got to ride with my mom who was very unwell. That doesn't normally happen but because I was calm they let me ride. They didn't want me to drive in the snow srorm we were having. Then they paid for my trip home later in a taxi but not until it was safer on the rodes. Always such great people.

I love how they ask about their mental health. Here in the United States they don't ask or put more importance into mental health. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. There would be less suicides and homicides if that happens

I cut my leg on a metal piece the beginning of this week at work. I didn't even notice it.. it felt like it was going to bruise because I don't feel much pain. When I was about to shower after work I saw my sock was bloody. Well, I am keeping it nice and wet under a bandage and hope it will heal nicely and fast 😂😂

For those who are trying to compare the US with Australia EMS… there are good and bad employees, as with any profession. They are also on camera in a show. Not saying these people aren’t always professional, they probably are, which is why they chose them to be on camera. I’m sure every place..country…has their good and bad moments. Anyway, it’s interesting to see EMS in other countries. I’m my experience it isn’t that much different than the US. Except for the National Healthcare which pays for these instances through taxes and they aren’t billed directly. I believe that is a better system. Perhaps the US will move to the 21st century soon.

Why tf are taxi drivers not required to wear a seatbelt just because there's passengers in the car??? What difference does it make if they have passengers or not? If they crash they'd suffer extreme injuries!! Not traumatic at all to watch your taxi driver pass away on the pavement after they flew through the windshield....
