  • An elderly man suffers a fall after celebrating his birthday with friends. Paramedics take the elderly man who sustained a head injury to hopsital to get his cut stitched up. The patient feels upset and unlucky for having an injury on his birthday. Elsewhere, paramedics respond to a call of a young woman suffering from mental health issues.
For the very first time, an ambulance has been rigged with cameras that provide a unique perspective on what it's like to respond to emergency calls. 'Inside The Ambulance' follows paramedics from the West Midlands Ambulance Service in England as they take us right into the heart of the action. We see heroism at work in the actions of these first responders. We also enter the lives of people in crisis and learn their unique stories.

Panic attacks are horrible! I have generalized anxiety & I completely sympathize with her!

Panic attacks are the worst. I also have emetophobia and when I feel sick I panic even more. Vicious cycle. Have had a panic attack from 8pm to 3am.. when I had to get up at 4am. It was so bad.

Ugh...I was 'given a few panic attacks' from an ADD medication that 'Did Not Work Well' for me, so I know what it feels like, but thank goodness I was not afflicted /ongoing/! On the plus side, I encourage 'breathing slowly' and 'talking with me' and never EVER will say again, "Just calm down, it'll be fine". You KNOW that already...it just doesn't HELP to know that! It's awful and it doesn't make any sense, and that just makes it feel all the more embarrassing. I've had a lot of luck with just 'being encouraging/supportive' and offering suggestions/asking questions now that I've had a few panic attacks of my own. They can often be 'de-constructed' in some ways, and 'knowing WHY a thing is true' can help to bring control to the panic itself since it's not just 'some random affliction' that way.
It has a cause, it gives an effect; the panic is real, even if we (the 'other people' who aren't panicking) don't SEE a reason why the panicky person might feel that way. The fact that it's not a 'real threat to life' doesn't change what our brain is yelling about when it runs amok like that. If the brain didn't really THINK FOR SURE that it was an issue, it wouldn't THINK that way.
Offering my random-internet-stranger love-and-encouragement to all afflicted with panic attacks, anxiety or depression in general, and all the other miseries that don't show open wounds! :) And for those miseries that ARE from open wounds; they might be easier to see and show, but they are generally no fun either!

@@KloetenhenneI understand. I also have general anxiety, emetophobia with myself and others around me, and depression. All three are bad enough but everyone around me think it’s such a stupid fear and think I get angry when they get sick. I’m not angry, I’m in an absolute panic attack. I’m actually having one now and came on TH-cam to calm myself. It’s 8am and I’ve been up all night like this.

A lot of thoughts about this episode:
    1. That first call was insane, the girl who was planning on offing herself, then they a call saying that someone has cardiac arrest after offing themselves, then dying
    2. That father-son duo was amazing, Aaron (the son) was so sweet to the child
    3. George seems like such a sweet guy, I really hope he had a great birthday despite everything

The father and son team said one thing that is very important. "Try and make the patient have a good experience with the ambulance crew."
I live in rual Alberta, Canada. I called an ambulance because I was feeling terrible. I had been going to the doctor's office several times for a couple of months, but we hadn't figured out why I was having such a bad time with my breathing and energy. I also had gained over 20 lbs in 7 days. The ambulance crew were laughing at me and made me feel horrible and uncomfortable. I left the ambulance and went back to my house in tears. Luckily, I had another doctor's appointment in 2 days. When I saw the doctor, he had me in the hospital and in IC immediately. After a few days, I got transferred to a different hospital that specializes in cardiac care. Eventually, I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Cardio Myopathy. The left side of my heart was pumping at 19% and not 50% like it should. Luckily, I am doing fine on my medications and don't need a heart transplant, but I won't be calling for an ambulance ever again.
I really like the attitude your crews have. I also know that we have here a lot of great ambulance crew members, I just happened to get a couple of the really crappie ones.
    Enjoy this show. 🇨🇦

A panic attack is one of the worst things you can experience - eminent death. Been there hundreds of times. I would rather break both legs than have one.
The bad news is, once you have one, you will always be prompted to have another, out of the HORRENDOUS experience it was.
    Poor girl.
