Agreed. Today's country pales in comparison to songs like this. Today's country isn't even country in my opinion; it's nothing but pop/r&b with a slight twang and occasional steel guitar.
Wendy Smith how much more do we need????? Real country is LITERALLY on ANY fm country on the planet these days. Can't get much more than LITERALLY anything on ANY fm country station on the planet

I know some real old schoolers will disagree but the mid 90's was the golden age of country music. Not old and twangy yet hadn't evolved to the country pop sound of today. And let's see Luke Bryan even try and time travel the way Wade Hayes could. Legit.
It was a resurrection in many ways. The twang is amazing, lets not lose it, but in the 80's and 90's we caught some good ones, and Wade Hayes was one of them. Vic Mohr talks about a cancer survivor and I'm one of them. This guy has grit, to survive it you have to have grit, he does. Beat it three times so far and at 60 I'm not quitting, ever. My short term goal is to see Wade, shake his hand, and tell him how much I appreciate his grit.
What a great song!!! I really wish he stayed around in the music business a little longer. So many great artists from the early 90's didn't get a fighting chance. Wade is a great, original talent!! :D
It takes a a wise person to not say what they should not and an even wiser one to say what we should. In the living years never miss the chance to say what we should.
Look at him close in this old video when he was young. Reminds me of young Elvis. Not identical but similar. Imagine him with short black combed back hair.

Blues Andrews This era is awesome, but the country of today is God-awful.
Yeah. Except what's played on country radio today is anything but country.
No way, early 2000s music like Blake, Chesney, Paisley made country what it is today. Today’s music can’t hold a lantern next to 90s and before music
These songs left a lasting impression in the 90's.... Today's country Sucks
