@@MattMullins-jt4gkI think he may have meant if they'd play the original? That was just how I read it, I could be wrong. I was wrong once back in 1980! 😂😂😂😂
I met Wade a few years back when he was playing a joint about like the one in the video. Mingled with the crowd between sets like he was just another guy there to see the show. He seemed to be a really nice and down to earth guy. Wish Nashville hadn't gotten so far away from this sound.
Im 77 years old and I remember when Wade made his debut on the country scene. He was a very talented guitarist and he had a sound that was stamped on the era. As I remember, it was early 90s. He has never received the attention and radio play that he should have. He beat cancer in his 40s and is still around today, although you dont hear his songs. Its a shame. Best Wishes Wade. I still listen to your music.
Same here RH. Wade came to our little town last year and I felt like I was probably his biggest fan there. I still listen to 90's country every day and don't listen to anything else. What a awesome era for country music it was! The instruments really had drive. I haven't listened to new country radio in 20 years and I'm 37 years old.
He played lead guitar for Johnny Lee for about 6 or 8 years before getting his own record deal. And I agree, his guitar sound and his over all sound was and still is very good! Radio should have treated him alot better. I miss country music now, I wish we still had it around.
This was one of our favorite dance songs back when my husband and I met in the 90s … and it’s still one we dance to often - especially when our band buddies play it live at our local Texas honky tonk.
I was just reading, "dreaming out loud" about Hayes' career, and wanted to see his breakout video. I couldn't believe it was filmed at Gruene Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas! It's not far from where I live and I've seen many fantastic acts up close there...the town itself is a mecca for tubing down the Guadalupe River that runs through town, and it has great places to eat. If you can, get to Gruene and see what Texans are really like, they love their music and are irresistible...
I'm not American but I just love country music..... Something that teaches you about the little things in life to cherish..... God bless América and country music
Lord I lived the drinking and driving nails the next day with a hangover. I was ok if I made it past dinner which was actually in the middle of the day back then in Georgia. This song brings back memories. Some good and others not so good. Thank you for posting this video.

Saw him live when this song was first released in East Texas. Happy birthday, Wade! Heard the song on the drive in this morning and it instantly brought me back to 1994 and The Pines!
Heard this on the radio for the first time today (I'm in NH!), had to track it down. I surely thought the artist had to have been older - that's a compliment!
When he looked in the rear view and saw those flashing lights from the cruiser, the look on his face was, "I do not need this." Great actor as well as an excellent singer.

I'm 48 now and played fiddle for 15 years years ago... Agreed to play a show with the old characters for fun and this seems to be first on the set list... I hope the new crowd drinks as hard as they did in the 90s and 2000s.
I met this man yesterday at Staunton, Virginia's Happy Birthday America celebration. We had a nice conversation. He's a little older now, and he's still just as down to earth. Keep going Tony! You got this!

Because Old country is dead just like old rock and roll. They're both going out together.
