For those of you don't know the story, Andy Griggs was making his first album, and this song was one that he'd written and put in the back of his stuff because he was convinced it was too personal to put out. He just didn't want to open his heart like that. Once the record company people heard and saw what he had written, they convinced him grudgingly to put this out. And now we all benefit. Every once in awhile, the record executives are smarter than the artist. Only once in awhile.
Yeah my dad is cousins with this guy, he told me after his brother and his dad passed away he told his mom he was moving to Nashville, he moved in ‘97 and got the deal to an album in ‘98 and finished it in ‘99 I haven’t seen him in years but he was a cool guy

I remember back before social media going to say maybe 2005 he had gotten married over the weekend in a non publicized ceremony. He played a show here in Buffalo. Industry email an hour before the show came through about it. I got to meet him and congratulate him. Nobody else knew not even the radio station. Sort of pulled his hand away but he couldn’t hide the ring and he then thanked me.
Andy is a great artist to bad he isn't writing songs.

In the late 90s I had the privilege of meeting Andy in Denton Tx. It was a strange night. He was missing his family. I told him just go home. Lol He said he was. Poor guy. I gave him a book to read while on the bus home. I shook his hand but wish I gave him a hug. A motherly hug. But he sure is cute. ❤❤❤

This is my song to my oldest son, who is now 22. I sang this song when I was pregnant with him, after he was born ; it was 1 of the only things that would soothe him. Thank you Andy Griggs, this song means the world to me.
It was like that whenever I had my daughter now almost 18. I always played the same few songs while I was pregnant with her that they were the only ones that would soothe her. She doesn't even know about that and still to this day they are among her most favorite songs. Ones that soothe her when she is having a bad day.

This song was playing on the radio when I brought my german shepherd/chow rescue dog home for the first time. It became our song. I had him for 7 wonderful years- until he passed away at 13 years old. He had spent the first 6 years of his life in a cage, un-socialized, frustrated and neglected. He became the best friend I ever had. He has been gone 2 1/2 years and this song still makes me cry.
