This is one of my favorite videos you guys have done. I miss the days of co-op games being played on the same TV. I know there are newer games which have this feature, but they are so few and far between.
It would be nice if you make more parts about Multiplayer Games, I have always been looking for these kind of games and you really know a lot about it!
Excellent show. I've been watching for a little over a year now. Definitely the best gaming show out there. Well-produced, highly entertaining, informative, laid back, not overly nerdy but definitely intelligent people, and great humor! Much respect!
Joe i've been dreaming of playing on a cinema screen for as long as i've been playing video games. It looks like you had a lot of fun.man..90s were the best.that footage belongs in a museum.you're one lucky bastard ! Game Sack FTW
This is easily one of my favorite shows on the internet, and I'm subbed to over 300 channels. I am always so excited every time I see that you have a new episode. Great job with the picks and the editing, and thanks for all the free and wonderful entertainment!
You guys, I wish there was a channel where we could see you play the games for all these episodes. it would be awesome! Watching you guys play through a game and then, when the episode comes out, we can see it all again and sque with joy!
Interestingly enough the North & South game is based on a Belgian comic, Les Tuniques Bleues, and Infogrames released a reimagine of the game on the Playstation under a different license, Asterix. It's called Asterix: The Gallic War.
Wow, hooking a console to a cinema projector and playing on the cinema screen was my childhood dream! I had no idea that it could actually be done! Thanks for making the 10 year old in me envious and happy, at the same time!
Lots of memories with this one. One of the best early 16-bit action platformers, but that music steals the show :) I even felt Bayonetta & Asura's Wrath were spiritual sequels while playing those games
Or one of our past episodes! We talked about it fairly recently. Check our episode guide in the description to find out which episode (I can't recall right now). Love Herzog.
We once used a projector to play Asteroids using a neighbors house as the screen so Im glad to see we werent the only ones using eccentric screen experiments! Magic stuff!
I've never heard anyone speak well of the Guantlet IV soundtrack before and it always bothered me, so it's good to hear some praise here. Now that I know who composed the Quest Mode, I know why it was so memorable. Never heard anything quite like the set before. As for the game itself, so many seem to look at it like just another Gauntlet, with Quest just being something tacked on, but to me it truly made the game. I was excited to see something new all those years ago growing up. EDIT This was a really good selection of games, but considering the wide net you cast focusing on older consoles, you should have considered dividing the games up by console at least. There are just too many gems you missed that would have been okay if you had focused on one particular system. Even still, getting Guantlet 4 and Archon on the same video - really, what are the odds?? lol
Really? I've never heard anyone talk anything but praise for the Gauntlet 4 soundtrack. I mean how could you not love it? It sounds WAY better than the Genesis usually sounds. I was honestly shocked at the quality of the music as it sounds WAY better than most Genesis games. You can tell that they are pushing the Genesis sound chip to the absolute max with the tracks here. It really is impressive.
The n64 had tons of great multiplayer experiences, as it was the first with four built in controller ports. Love the videos, been spreading the word about the sack.
Yes. Buy-Back Games which has several locations is pretty good. There's also Game Force Boulder in, well, Boulder. We actually had them in the Road Rash episode. And in Aurora there's Doc's Video Games I think they're called.
Damn straight I "forgot" about Bonanza Bros. I never liked that game. It's not a prerequisite to being a Sega fan at all, especially since I've been a fan of Sega since before that game's inception. And the other games you've mentioned have been covered except for Cyborg Justice. Nothing has been "forgotten". Instead, many games just weren't chosen. I can never understand why some people seem to think we "forget" games. Are we supposed to include EVERY game?
My favorite cooperative multiplayer games were Double Dragon & Streets of Rage. However, my brother & I would almost always hit each other & end up fighting as we're playing the game. My favorite competitive multiplayer games were Rock 'N Roll Racing, WWF Smackdown: Know Your Role, & WWF Attitude. In WWF Attitude, my brother & I would always be on opposite sides. Each of us would create characters (bunches of them) & pit them against each other in different matches. We had some fun with those games.
these are my favorite kind of Multiplayer games.....sitting side by side playing....and maybe drinking too.....but still, nothing beats sitting next to someone and playing a multiplayer game, cutting up and having fun!
Gentlemen, you have no idea how badly I needed this right now. Barely any sleep, terrible day with lots of anxiety, and.. well, put more whiny crap form me here. But, enough crying like a little girl. Thank you, you are appreciated!
Ah yes, good ole Gauntlet 4. The music in that game is the best I have ever heard the Genesis sound chip be able to produce. It is truly magnificent and is BY FAR the best soundtrack for the system.
Pocky is a miko, or a Shinto shrine maiden, and Rocky is a tanuki raccoon dog. Shinto priests use magic spells written on paper to exorcise demons and Tanuki is the legendary Japanese fairy tale trickster. The demons in the game are all variants of classical Japanese demons from myth and folklore. That's what made the game so much fun!
Great episode, I love multiplayer games. Gauntlet IV and Mario Kart 64 are awesome. I checked your episode guide and most multiplayer games I like have already been shown (sometimes in montages though), but the Puzzle & Action series for the Mega Drive and Micro Machines for several systems haven't. They are very fun.
The other cool thing about King of Dragons is that there are classes. Not super important, but it was neat to have at least a couple that were more melee combat and longer range/faster attacking characters. Another game that doesn't get a ton of talk, kudos Game Sack! I also really want to try pocky and rocky. Seeing that 'after hours' footage with the big screen...wow. That would have been amazing, an entire theater to yourselves alone would be great, but then to be able to set your games up on it? Definitely envious. Was surprised/happy to see Metal Warriors here as when it gets talked about, the multiplayer part sometimes gets forgotten. It's one I own, that I wish was a lot cheaper when I traded for it lol. I had and traded both mario party and mario party 2. I feel like I should have a mario party game again for either GC or n64 at some point; don't know many people who would play it right now, but someone will at some point. Great video Game Sack! Wild Guns is quite fun on SNES for multiplayer games, and a much more affordable NES game of that same type is Cabal. Had a lot of fun with that one as a kid. I know you have already covered them so I don't expect them here, but for my own multiplayer experiences, Contra and Contra III were games I have distinctly fond memories of playing with friends/cousins etc.
Another awesome episode! Thanks guys, as always, your work is much appreciated. I would like to suggest Goof Troop for the SNES in case you 're going to make multiplayer games part 2.
I love Gauntlet IV for one reason. Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata composed the soundtrack for it. They knew how to make the Genesis sound awesome.
Four underrated Dreamcast multiplayer gems: Powerstone 2, San Francisco Rush 2049 Battle Mode, Virtua Tennis (and Sega Sports Tennis 2K2), and Spawn: In the Demon's Hand.
Just a thought of what might be interesting in future episodes, SPY vs SPY for Nintendo Entertainment System and Sega Master System. The Sega Genesis version of The Adventures of Batman and Robin also was a pretty good game to play multi-player. Also co-operative mode in Duke Nukem 64. Also the Nintendo 64 Star Fox game was a pretty good one for multi-player, or Godzilla for the NES, oh and Global Defense for the Sega Master System was best played as two players.
Secret of Mana is an excellent co op game for the snes. It's great on its own, but having a friend along for the adventure just multiplies the awesome.
They are back ! Although the first mutliplayer game ruled back in the day which lead to more people playing with each other later on consoles were invented. Yay !
I don't know how it is I've never heard of Gauntlet 4 before but a few friends of mine and I played through the whole thing and oh my gosh it was such a blast!
Most of my best multiplayer experiences was on 8 and 16 bits systems except for Rayman Origins, I had fun on PS3 with it and my ex! Otherwise on NES: Contra, Chip'n'Dale, Bubble Bobble, River City Ransom, Micro Machines, Snake Rattle'n'Roll, Snow Brothers, On SNES: Goof Troop, King Of Dragons which I'm happy you mentioned! Secret Of Mana, Darius Twins... Genesis: NHL 96 !!!
METAL WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMGGGGGGGGGGG!! FINALLY A GAMING CHANNEL THAT KNOWS THIS GAME! You guys have no idea how much it means to me to finally find a channel that talks about it! I've watched many vids on many gaming channels but never one of them mentions this incredibly fun game! How come?! And if not just to cover the game for the fun that the game is, there's also its rarity and how expensive Metal Warriors is now to mention that even which the supposed game collectors fail to mention. What?! What gives?!?! All I'm saying is - if you're a true gamer or have a channel dedicated to games (especially those of the snes generation), Metal Warriors should definitely be on your radar (or list) - and def of your fondest memories. SUBBED!! :')
Man, I had forgotten all about Archon. Such a good game. I felt like playing it again after watching this video only to find out that there's a recent remake called Archon Classic available on Steam. I'll have to buy that. I would seriously love to see a new game in the style of Archon but with much better fighting dynamics when pieces meet on the board.
Yeah for Archon! I loved the C64 version. I love how you have footage video game playing from years and years ago. Have you ever covered General Chaos for the Genesis? That's a fun multiplayer game.
We know, but Konami did release Cybernator in the US like they did with Metal Warriors. NCS makes Assault Suit Leynos (Tager Earth) and Assault Suit Valken (Cybernator). Sorry if this was a bit unclear. :)
Oh man Super mario kart! My favorite of the series! probably because me and my brother would play this for days on end. He was older and won ALMOST everytime, that is till I started to kick his ass! Btw, Grabbing coins makes your kart go faster for every set of 10.
That footage in the theater was awesome!!! So cool
I really like the hard light filter you put on the green screen footage
When I was a kid, my friends and I spent so much time playing Spy vs. Spy on NES, and also loved Rampart.
Jeff White Rampart was a great multiplayer game.
How do these guys not have 1 million subs??
I dunno I really like their videos. They seem like great guys.
PK_101 spread the word :)
kk
PK_101 perhaps they can't eat that much food.
true
Mario Kart on a freaking movie theater screen? That's the coolest thing ever! 😃
Coins in Mario Kart make you go FASTER! That's why you collect them!
Not all Coins in Mario Kart make u go faster
That's awesome that you did that in the theater :)
Shadow Blasters may appear in an Overlooked Gems episode in the future. I actually had a lot of fun with that back in the day.
Holy shit, North and South! I haven't thought about that game in like 20 years. It's so good!
Excellent show. I've been watching for a little over a year now. Definitely the best gaming show out there. Well-produced, highly entertaining, informative, laid back, not overly nerdy but definitely intelligent people, and great humor! Much respect!
i am really impressed by the amount of quality and detail that you guys put into your videos. i just cant seem to get enough. great work guys.
Joe i've been dreaming of playing on a cinema screen for as long as i've been playing video games. It looks like you had a lot of fun.man..90s were the best.that footage belongs in a museum.you're one lucky bastard !
Game Sack FTW
I highly recommend General Chaos for the Genesis. You control a squad of soldiers in real time and face your opponent. Its pretty cheap on Amazon
Wasted so many hours in that game with my brother! Cool game!
This is easily one of my favorite shows on the internet, and I'm subbed to over 300 channels. I am always so excited every time I see that you have a new episode. Great job with the picks and the editing, and thanks for all the free and wonderful entertainment!

I think it's time for part 2! I'd love to see it :D
I agree, Joe and Dave do a great job showing us some great retro games, and of course the oddball games that some of us have never heard of.
Brilliant. Thank you for featuring Gauntlet 4 on the Genny and its awesome music.
Awesome episode! Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Wrestling were great multiplayer games way back when, and Sunset Riders was a lot of fun on co-op too.
Lots of memories with this one. One of the best early 16-bit action platformers, but that music steals the show :) I even felt Bayonetta & Asura's Wrath were spiritual sequels while playing those games
A game of Goof Troop SNES is always appreciated here.
Tr7 I swapped Mario kart for goof troop
bad move!!
I've never played pocky and rocky. I definitely want to check that out now. Great stuff as usual!
Great (old) episode. You guys should consider making another Multiplayer video.

three dirty dwarves on the saturn is amazing
The footage from the movie theater is awesome. :)

You could mention Metal Slug (the whole series) and TimeSpliters. Some of the best multiplayer experiences of my life.
best episode ever haha. love seeing young joe and dave in any episode, especially with joe playing a nintendo console willingly! haha
these are my favorite kind of Multiplayer games.....sitting side by side playing....and maybe drinking too.....but still, nothing beats sitting next to someone and playing a multiplayer game, cutting up and having fun!
Gentlemen, you have no idea how badly I needed this right now. Barely any sleep, terrible day with lots of anxiety, and.. well, put more whiny crap form me here.
But, enough crying like a little girl. Thank you, you are appreciated!
Golden Axe - had so much multiplayer fun with that!
Playing Mario Kart on the threatre screen must have been amazing!
All of the above applies. Drinking some beers, playing games with friends in the same room is always a good time.
Ah yes, good ole Gauntlet 4. The music in that game is the best I have ever heard the Genesis sound chip be able to produce. It is truly magnificent and is BY FAR the best soundtrack for the system.
You should listen to the elemental master soundtrack and thunder force 3 and 4.
@@GamingPlus10 I think I have heard those before but i'll listen to em next time I break out the Mega SG just in case.
Pocky is a miko, or a Shinto shrine maiden, and Rocky is a tanuki raccoon dog. Shinto priests use magic spells written on paper to exorcise demons and Tanuki is the legendary Japanese fairy tale trickster.

game sack is by far my favorite show right now
That's awesome to hear! We will endeavor to make at least 30 more episodes!
OH MY GOD YES GAUNTLET 4. I remember playing it a long ago and never knew the name of the game. THANK YOU SO MUCH
Jo that cinema looked awesome, they used to have trekked tournaments in one in my home town

It's Gauntlet 4 for the Genesis. We showed the cartridge and the title screen.

game sack is by far my favorite show right now [2]
Knights of the round should be featured on the sequel. My friends and I, had countless hours of fun with this gem.
Another great video, thanks guys. First ever channel I've ever subscribed to
Another awesome episode!
Love the first 2 Mario karts. The wife and I still hook them out and race for bragging rights
Four underrated Dreamcast multiplayer gems: Powerstone 2, San Francisco Rush 2049 Battle Mode, Virtua Tennis (and Sega Sports Tennis 2K2), and Spawn: In the Demon's Hand.

it's the huge wave of enemies that makes gaunlet so interesting.
Online multiplayer will NEVER be as good as local.
Looks like someone has not played tf2
So damn true
+TheUsbGamer enjoy ur hats
It is 1000 times better
6:30 AM here, haven't slept, new gamesack, won't sleep.
STAR CONTROL was definitely the game to own on the Sega Genesis for multiplayer. I suggest this one if you have a multiplayer 2 episode.
Lol the North&South intro screen is straight up ripped and sliightly altered from `De Blauwbloezen` EU Comic series!
METAL WARRIORS... OMG! Glad you remembered that one. Awesome game for multiplayer, even though it's average at best on single player.
Collecting coins in Mario Kart makes your car faster.
This reminded me of the one co op game that I continue to enjoy to this day; Streets Of Rage 2.
One I discovered years after its release is Wild Guns for the SNES. A great intense co-op shooter.
I don't know how it is I've never heard of Gauntlet 4 before but a few friends of mine and I played through the whole thing and oh my gosh it was such a blast!
Thanks! Glad to hear your son is a gamer now. I'm working on my daughter as I need someone besides Joe for multiplayer. Love VanHalen!!!
Devil Dice for the PlayStation is one of the best multiplayer games of all time. And the single player games(s) aren't too shabby either.
Good call on King of dragons.
Knights of the round is awesome too
Dave was suggesting the SNES version but Joe caught on and made sure only the Sega CD version was an option.
Thanks for the recommendations guys :)

there is always someone about to go to bed when these come up. Seriously, look it up.
Of course!
Wow! Happy episode 70, gents! Keep up the awesome
Yeah for Archon! I loved the C64 version. I love how you have footage video game playing from years and years ago. Have you ever covered General Chaos for the Genesis? That's a fun multiplayer game.
after getting a PS3 for christmas, i've been playing Twisted Metal 2 again, with my wife :) how coincidental! great job again, as always!
My friend is a manager at a movie theatre and we used to do the same thing.
pretty much all of the monsters are listed in D&D monster compendium. Chimera, goblins, hydra, manticore....the list goes on.
Love World of Illusion, what a fun game. Congrats on your complete Metal Warriors. Hold on to it......with both hands.
I don't even know how to subtitle them and it we don't have much time as it is. I'm not sure if other viewers can do this or not.
We know, but Konami did release Cybernator in the US like they did with Metal Warriors. NCS makes Assault Suit Leynos (Tager Earth) and Assault Suit Valken (Cybernator). Sorry if this was a bit unclear. :)
Great show guys. I really enjoy your videos. Keep 'em coming!

Btw, Grabbing coins makes your kart go faster for every set of 10.
Love the 4 player mariokart 64 on the 40 ft screen!
I still pick-up The King of Dragons every now & again, along with Knights of the Round on the SNES :)
It's a darned shame I have to wait until 4AM Eastern Time to get the episodes. Ah, two of the finest joys of life, Red Lobster, and Game Sack.
The theater screen hookup looked awesome! You lucky bastard! ;-P
I loved playing Smash TV with my cousin and brother. It was a pretty cool game.
Super Bomberman is another excellent choice.
King of Dragons deserves my like! o/
Edit: Godammit! Metal Warriors! I love you guys!
