19:20 so what happened in the anime was the main character wanted to go see his friend go on stage for a beauty pageant but got stuck on patrol duty and was watching the broadcast on the way back to the ship
@@GameSack I'm guessing you didn't get to the part where the idol girl, Lynn Minmay, starts singing to help end the war. Not joking, that's in the series. Macross: Do You Remember Love is in my personal top 5 animated film list. Beautifully animated film, impressive battle sequences, including the memorable climatic final battle. Damn shame that it hasn't seen a western re-release since VHS because, at least for one reason, a certain company I won't name allegedly refuses to allow anything that may detract from their version of the story. They've recently let up on sequel stuff but are still really stingy about anything related to the OG show.
It's a great Macross/Robotech game. No real translation needed, the menus are in English. It's very fun and made by SEGA AM2. Highly recommend. It's one of the best Macross games ever made. The only one that I think is better is 'Macross 30' on PS3.
Fun fact: Joy Mech Fight did see a release in the west on the North American NSO NES App for the Nintendo Switch. The game is still in Japanese, but it's playable.
For the Macross game, if i recall, the mc was on perimeter duty when an enemy scout ship almost crash into his plane watching the same broadcast as mc which causes the battle in-game. Another thing, the mission sequence at 18:00 was all friendlies must be at SDF-1 before the ship 'fold' into space to escape orbital bombardment from enemy fleets. The game by itself is very solid and did not suffer from gameplay issues that plague the other previous Macross game franchise. This is also the only game that afaik, follows both anime and movie storyline in a single game.
Maybe like 0,01% of the viewers did just that, hahah. I mean, the real percentage of people who speak Japanese well enough to follow Japanese media in the West can't be much higher than that. 😄 (always good to learn a new language, after all!)

22:20 I dreamt of this game for my SEGA Megadrive because I was a big fan of the anime (and did my best to accomodate with erratic programmation of it), saw the screenshots on some magazines back then but never saw the game. When you think you’ve played it all Melfard Stories comes along…Gotta love videos like this cheers 🤘🏽and those Anime girls in that PS2 Super Dimension game are probably thinking the same “ Why can’t they understand me “ 😂
They did bring a Macross game over and called it Robo Tech. It plays just like the game you showed, but I remember the graphics being more cell shaded.
That macross game for ps2 looks awesome. I wish i could play it. Watching these left in Japan videos is fun but I always see a game i want to play but cant. Game Sack is still my favorite gaming channel even without Dave. Thanks for the video and the good laugh at the end.
@GameSack I've gotta ask, what hardware were you using to upscale that Macross footage? RT4K? That looks so stable for a 480i game. I use a RT5x and its motion adaptive deinterlacer is nowhere near that clean.
Do You Remember Love is a movie that came out after the original Macross. So you can say the first campaign follows the TV show and the second follows the movie. There was a rather more serious Ape Escape game that came out for the PS2 that was Japan only. It would have been nice to see it localized. Sadly, I don't remember the title.
Always appreciate some Tengai Makyou ZIRIA love. The Xbox 360 version is incredible and I still wish to this day it actually got translated and released outside Japan :/
I remember reading a Game Informer magazine article about Super Dimensional Fortress Macross or SDF Macross. I was bummed when it didn't come here, but at least we got Robotech Battlecry and Robotech Invasion, both of which I feel were underrated.

Mospeada and the Americanized Robotech movie, Megazone 23, were both designed by the same guy.
The Salamander games are so underrated compared to the main Gradius series.
Hey Joe, when you reach episode 20 you could do a "not anymore left in Japan" video, revisiting the oldest entries to update them if they have been made available on modern systems!
22:20 I dreamt of this game for my SEGA Megadrive because I was a big fan of the anime (and did my best to accomodate with erratic programmation of it), saw the screenshots on some magazines back then but never saw the game. I think I tried once to play the ROM of it in Japan, but quickly abandoned because of the language barrier.
Yes! I love the Japan episodes!
When you think you’ve played it all Melfard Stories comes along…Gotta love videos like this cheers 🤘🏽and those Anime girls in that PS2 Super Dimension game are probably thinking the same “ Why can’t they understand me “ 😂
The ending skit is a realy nice contrast to the one from last episode...
They did bring a Macross game over and called it Robo Tech. It plays just like the game you showed, but I remember the graphics being more cell shaded.
There’s a fantastic mecha side scrolling shooter on the PSP that was only released in Japan. It’s called Armored Hunter Gunhound EX.
I played all those games, but I like Game Sack,so I watched it anyway
The TV Show of Nadia made its way to Germany in the late 90s. Loved that anime.
Thanks, Joe
That macross game for ps2 looks awesome. I wish i could play it. Watching these left in Japan videos is fun but I always see a game i want to play but cant. Game Sack is still my favorite gaming channel even without Dave. Thanks for the video and the good laugh at the end.
Thanks Joe great episode
Please list the games in the description so I can look them up later, thanks!
Gamesack is part of a balanced breakfast.
Great job thanks
Salamander arcade allowed you to add lives if you added credits. Up to 42 lives. No continues but tons of lives as long as you add credits.
i want to play that macross game. love the series. i think i might still have a vhs copy of do you remember love haha
Shoutout and love for The Phantom Menace one of the GOATED SW Movies. Yayayayyaya
I would love to see the Salamander / Life Force collection made available today. It's a shame we didn't get in its original form
Closest thing is the PSP collection which is ALSO Japan only
I believe that the arcade versions of lifeforce and salamander are avaliable on switch with the arcade archives.
I remember reading a Game Informer magazine article about Super Dimensional Fortress Macross or SDF Macross. I was bummed when it didn't come here, but at least we got Robotech Battlecry and Robotech Invasion, both of which I feel were underrated.
OK, that ending skit might be better than the one where Joe eats the 7Up Spot.🤣
What gear are you using to scale your ps2 footage on the robot sorry mech game. Looks stunning?
