    Just installed a new loading gate today in my Marlin 1894 CSBL. This video was excellent and made the job relatively easy. Clear, concise instructions. Enough detail to see what needs to be done and nothing was glossed over or assumed. One of the best instructional videos I have seen. keep up the good work.

    An extremely well done presentation. You practice what you preach ... slow and steady ... which makes for super video instruction. No background music or noise, what a concept. More instructional videos please! Cheers.

    Following up. I got my Ranger Point Precision gate yesterday and, following this video, installed it in under 30 minutes. I took my time, slow-n-steady as you say, and it installed very easily. The only sticky point I had was in reinstalling the hammer screw. Mine didn't drop back in. I had to apply a little force, tapping it with the butt end of the screwdriver to drive it down through the hammer to the other side of the frame, then tighten as normal. And wow, what a difference! Loading a cartridge is no longer a literal pain. I don't feel the gate is fighting against me as I push a cartridge through.
    I love seeing how older firearms work. So much simpler than today's modern firearms.
    Thank you for the recommendation and the tutorial!

    A+ Presentation.
    I especially appreciate this being done without using a splashy video graphics and porno sound track.
    Considering all the disassembly for the loading gate, IMO it would have been worth replacing the trigger with a Ranger Point trigger kit.

    Thanks for all these videos. I do not know if there is a reason for the extra high pressure caused by the magazine tube spring, but it was nightmarish and painful to reload. I did not replace the loading gate, but removed four inches from the magazine tube spring. It completely changed my experience and it is now much easier and actually fun to reload - no more pain. It also gives room for one additional 38 Special cartridge.

    Great instructions. Thank you. It really helped both times I took the rifle apart. The Ranger Point Precision Loading Gate was only slightly easier to load through, but it wouldn't allow a round to feed. It got hung up on the inside of the gate and there it stayed. I reinstalled the old gate, after freeing the stuck round, and the rifle was back in working order.

    Awesome instructions no ums or ars ,you know your subject matter and sequence , everything flowed from one piece to the next, well done, are you an instructor? Or does your work require you to explain what you do?
    Anyway that was great and I’d like to see you work on a Henry as I have one, a big boy steel In 357mag.
    I’m from Australia and we don’t have many gun smiths here and the ones that are here are bloody expensive, that’s why I like channel’s that include take downs and mods..
    Thanks for the video.

      Thanks so much for the kind words! Really appreciate it. I’m not an instructor, I do video & photography for a living, and some residential electrical. Dad and I are just very technical people. And when it comes to firearms, I generally know my content and just roll with it, sometimes get too fast and get ahead of myself 😂. If I can ever get my hands on a Henry to modify, I’ll be sure to do it! Yeah gunsmiths can be quite expensive. That combined with the fact that we prefer to do everything ourselves, it just made sense to do our own mods. Hope you stick around, lots of content like this to come in the future!
      Thanks again!

    Just did this install on my 1895 dark! Video is great! Only issue I ran into was with the loading gate itself. Mine must have been bent a little and when I got the weapon reassembled, the gate was too far into the receiver and interfered with the loading ramp movement and would insta-jam. Just had to take it back apart and bend the gate slightly and voila!! Works perfect!!

    Another Aussie in the mix here. I expected a mod like this for the Marlin Dark but word is the gate is a lot smoother now. One thought though. I have mostly European scopes and they use TORK screws which I like very much as I have the equipment to suit and stripping of screw heads and the chance of marring your work is greatly reduced. Do you know of anyone who had swapped out standard screws for TORX fasteners? And secondly are the torque specs for the Marlin rifles readily available for those who use precision torque wrenches or will I have to search high and low. A quick search throws up a dead end. Or is it simply a case of snug and tighten and keep an eye on your gear?
    Great video. An excellent start to hopefully an awesome new channel. Expect more than handful of Australian comments sir.

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the feedback! As far as TORX swap out, I've not seen that yet. I'm also not sure on the torque specs availability as far as the assembly screws. I've never noticed anyone giving them. Everyone I've known always either puts Lock-Tite on them or just keeps an eye on them. I try to check mine whenever I use them heavily or clean them. You've got me intrigued now...lol...I'll have to start looking for the torque specs on all the screws.
      Really appreciate all the comments and questions! Your questions help me learn and check myself along the way. Looking forward to many more of your comments in the future!

    • @RangerPointPrecision
      @RangerPointPrecision 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All Marlin screws use proprietary thread pitches which do not exist with regular screws out there. You'd need to design a full set of Torx screws with the thread pitches.

    You can do this without the big strip down with a bit of fiddling. Take out the lever, bolt and ejector. Unscrew the loading gate and remove. Insert the new gate through the loading gate hole. Now the fiddly bit, with the gun upside down, I rested the stock on the back of a chair, so the loading gate faces the floor maneuver the new gate into place, insert screw and tighten. Not for everyone but if you don't want to strip it right down it can be done.

  • @gravytrainoutdoors
    @gravytrainoutdoors 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    • @nalibaba
      @nalibaba 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      All you have to do is take the stock loading gate off, clamp the end with the screw hole in a vise, and bend it a bit so that it’s flatter. Go slow, tweak it a little at a time. Makes it much easier to load. I’ve done it on all four of my Marlins.

    1984- Seems like they didn't have amazon back then so Im guessing they made them as non-heated (annealed, tempered, quenching, ) treated metal to mechanically last, and furthermore would only be subject to strength hardening by cold working (act of repetitive loading of ammunition). So yep

    Why did Marlin want their customers not to be able to load the gun smooth, fast and easy. whats wrong with them ? Its totally absurd-wtf. The gun literally prevents you to load it. the edges are also sharp, the rifle is full with my blood. thx for showing the marlin customers how we can repair their disaster. I ll also have to round all these sharp edges. What angers me is that this is a problem the customers can only find out AFTER the purchase, as noone is allowed (for a good reason) to load a gun for a test in the gunstore.
