    A great video for those of us who feel that Marlins ain't totally beyond redemption in the remlin era. Doesn't cost much to upgrade with these ranger point parts. Must have parts today's Marlins. And great replacement parts for older models

      Thanks so much! I agree. I much prefer the metal follower alternative to the plastic ones.

    Nicely done.
    When he missed the cap, this tells me this is a real live take, and how comfortable he is with doing the work.
    Thanks for the great video.
    As always, I do appreciate the complete absence of splashy graphics and the porno movie soundtrack.

    I've got a new 1894 in .357 as well. Sweet little rig, but it does need the improvements you've made. Thanks for the how to.

    To be honest I was focused on and content in watching what you were doing that I didn’t notice the end cap being missed 🤷‍♂️😂
    It’s all good and thanks for the video.

    I just wanted to add a couple points. I realize this is for a .357 Marlin, so no hate please. I have a 1968 Marlin 336 30-30. Removal of the tube is even easier. Remove the clamp around the barrel and tube (one screw). Pull the tube loose with spring inside. Allow stock follower to fall out. Drop the aluminum follower down into the tube end (in the correct direction) and re-install spring and tube. Finicky part is replacing the screw into the barrel/tube band. The whole process is easy. One last thing. The stock 1968 follower was steel, but mine was real cruddy and worn.

    Nice job sir, awesome video! Are you a southpaw? You make dealing with the small screws look effortless. Nice/proper tools too! Do you think this procedure would work as well on a Marlin 336C made in 2011?

      @buildhuntxplore  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I'm ambi, and I've worked with my hands my whole life doing all kinds of construction work. And yep, it should work just fine. I have a series on here building up a 336W as well.

    I just got my new Marlin Ruger .44-70 and the foregrip would not come off. There is even a screw right behind the foregrip and I took THAT off and it still would not move. I really do not want to harm my beautiful new rifle. Any other suggestions other than mallet and wedge?

    That silhouette target on your left is very distracting. Have you heard of Ned Kelly? Probably the most infamous of Australian bush rangers. His armour bears much resemblance to the silhouette shape. Nice video. Another mod that will be under consideration for my new lever gun. Cheers.

      So sorry, haha. I'll try to work on that. I haven't heard of him. I'll check him out. Thanks, glad you liked it! Up next is the Midwest Hand Guard, and we recently got an XS sights rail to install, so that will be coming up soon as well. Thanks for watching!

    I have the .357 1894c and is different. It has both of the sides of the spring a follower.

    It's a little booger to get in there, lot of pressure, it's not very big but it's extremely long. Also thank you for the video

    Any tips on getting the tubs separated from the barrel after removing the screws? Mine seems to be on there good, and I see you cut the video when you were doing the same thing.....

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sometimes you have to persuade it with either a plastic wedge or rubber mallet.

  • @jginsc

    Would it be possible to shorten the spring slightly or would that affect functionality?

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have heard of people doing it, though I never have. From what I've heard, if you go slow and don't take too much you can make it work very efficiently.

    Do they have those followers for the Marlin 336, I just a stainless 30-30 and would like to put of of those lever loops and followers on it.

      Yep, they have those for the 336! Check out Ranger Point Precision. They’ll get you setup 👍

    Another great tutorial for an outstanding product. (I'll be ordering one). However, it makes me uneasy to see you working with a spring and not wearing eye protection. Remember, safety first.

    I'm looking at purchase the 45-70 Black... is everything pretty much the same?

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Howdy! Yeah the process is pretty much the same, except the bolt is round instead of square and the parts are obviously bigger. We are also in the process of a 336 build. Part 1 is up and part 2 will be up Monday. Thanks for watching!

    I just bought a trapper in 45 70 and I’m having feeding issues. Round comes half way out of the tube and gets pinched by the carrier. Any ideas?

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm I'm not sure on that. Check with Ranger Point. They may have some ideas since they used to build the rifles as well. Good luck!

    Can a Marlin 1895 4 shot magazine tube be changed over to a Marlin 1895 6 shot magazine tube without any modifications?

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it can’t. There is a cut in the barrel where the end of the magazine tube screws on. There is a stud there that the screw runs through. This also retains the follower and spring. Sorry, mods have to be done.

    I called the factory to ask if the .357 follower was concave for Leverevolution rounds and they said yes, however in your video it is clearly not concave. I am at a loss as to why the factory would be wrong. I need concave as all i shoot is the hornady leverevolutions and i have problems with the flat surface factory follower not allowing them to feed straight. I suspect this Ranger Point part will have the same problem?

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm they are both flat on the end. My 1895 has a flat one as well. I have shot a lot of Leverevolution rounds through it and haven't had a problem.

    • @JS-gu3ts
      @JS-gu3ts 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply. I finally got around to installing one today and it does feed much better than the factory plastic follower. Can't say the same for my 45-70 though which i also fitted today, but i will say the mag tube on the 357 is flawless and the one on my 4570 is horrible. Still at a loss why Ranger Point is giving wrong answers about their products on phone and email, but i do feel happier having the new aluminum follower installed. Your video was a great help by the way as the mag tube was hard to get off and i may have given up had i not watched your video. P.S. i should have listened in class, i made the same mistake and forgot the end plate after 20 minutes of wrestling to get the tube back on, spring in place etc.

  • @TorinStein
    @TorinStein 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Mine seems to jam up with the new mag follower installed in my CSBL, it feeds every round fine usually but will hang up when trying to open the action to eject the last round or otherwise with the tube empty. Any idea what the issue could be?

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm I'm not sure what that could be. Give Ranger Point a call. I'm sure they could walk you through it. Good luck!

    • @TorinStein
      @TorinStein 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@buildhuntxplore I reinstalled the original follower in the meantime and it functions well. I also installed the lightweight loading gate and that didn't seem to affect function with the OEM part. When I pulled out the RP Follower it was quite worn in just a short time so it may just be an out of spec part, I'll see what they say.

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I’d say definitely check on that. Glad you narrowed it down!

      I know it's a couple of years later for you but I just installed mine and am having the same problem, were you ever able to find out what was wrong?

    • @TorinStein
      @TorinStein 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@risingtradesmen8923 I’m thinking tolerances, the Remington Marlins were known for inconsistency. Ranger Point was awesome and handled the return and I switched back to my factory follower. Has functioned fine since then over probably 2,000+ rounds since.

  • @rickyd7694
    @rickyd7694 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tried installing this mod on my CST and the follower pushed through and into the receiver after last round, jamming the action.

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh man that's not good. The follower should not have made it through the opening.

  • @jeffhreid
    @jeffhreid 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This seems like a pretty pointless part change. I can’t remember anyone complaining about the follower on their levergun. I will note that the bright red or orange colored follower is a good idea. It makes it obvious that the magazine is empty. Any replacement should be brightly colored.

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol. it really boils down to the fact that I didn't want t plastic follower
