I am from India. Last 15 years I live in the US West coast California , heart of US Colorado Mountains , east coast Atlantic Ocean area. I ride a chopper, a cruiser and a Touring bike length and breadth of US which is 3 times size if India .. across various terrains .. mountains, deserts, tundras, seasides, on various roads. I have talked to many bikers, dealers, mechanics, watched many bike videos on youtube from US, Europe, Australia, India. Last year rode a rental Himalayan from Leh to Siachen Base Camp. With all that experience behind me, I can say for a fact that these 2 men are honest in their opinions, correct in their observations .. they are not misleading, nor influencing riders or future customers. They are laying out the facts in plain English for everyone to make intelligent and better decisions on their ride. You two guys should keep doing what you are doing and keep up the good work. All the best. Good to see MATURED reviews on motorcycles from India. Jai Hind.
Thank you Bosky for introducing me to this lovely adventure tourer. Enjoying riding it and once the running in is done, hope to get the max out of the power available. It was wonderful shooting the video this morning with you and CK. As i said, going by both of your comments and views, i have made the right choice.
This is the most mature commentary by an Indian vlogger which i have seen on the A390. Your comments & observation on the bike are spot on. The so called auto reviewers need to really look at this video
The Casio F91W is an iconic design and watch. It is lightweight, value for money and power-packed. Just like the 390 Adv. Incidentally, I own both. Cheers.
Finally........posting a video after a long time.........👍......KTM's image suffers probably due to their Duke range being a favourite among stunt(read hooligan) riders..... people may also be thinking of it as a sub-brand of Bajaj rather than an independent brand ! I think they must launch their higher cc bikes to break that image !!

Fascinating insights which I enjoyed. I purchased TVS Ronin after taking a test ride which matched to my aspirations for owning another bike namely: *Lighter weight *Upright sitting position *Good ground clearance *Flatter seat *Led illumiation *ABS & Slipper clutch. *Reasonable price *Adequate power for my weekend rides . *Fatigue free sitting geometry . * Inverted front forks and good rear suspension. @@bigbearbangalore Bosky thank you for taking the time to reply, i have a question coz even though ive booked the bike im a bit confused, having owned one of the first generation 390 dukes i absolutely love KTM so this one should be a no brainer but on a comparison between a Honda CBX500 and a 390A Keeping the price point aside what would you reckon to be a better motorcycle in the long run, asking because i am generally away for work more than a couple of months at a stretch and the motorcycles usually stay idle for a long period which then leads to a few issues,
Am happy to respond to comments so no problems. You've put me in a spot!! That's a tough call and I would go with the 390A because it's easier to fix and get running after extended parking. Plus after a few years in the event you wish to buy a bigger motorcycle, the depreciation would be quite a bit less. With the 500x you would have invested more and resale would be slow and low. Other than that the 500x is a stunner. If you are so sure that you are not going to change the motorcycle for several years then may be, just may be, you can consider the 500x. The 390A is a more secure all-round option. Cheers!
Hey Bosky hope alls well , in a bit of a confusion here my dealer has told me there is something called the R rally version coming out soon and with the X being launched at a cheaper price tag I’m a bit confused apparently the r might get the spoke wheels and the adjustable suspension so do you reckon the new X or is it worth waiting for the R ??? Thank you for this review. Though I had booked the Enfield celestial I took one test ride on a KTM 390 Adv and I was sold on which bike is the one I should go for. Initially it was a battle between my head and heart. My heart pulled towards the Meteor celestial as it is a gorgeous looking motorcycle but my head said that the bike I should consider is the KTM as it fulfils and ticks all my other boxes except maybe the outright looks ! As for the looks, I know with time I will start enjoying its unique styling format. So it is cancel ENFIELD and booking KTM😊 !
I have been watching your videos on both Himalayan and KTM 390 ADV . I own a duke 390 2013 model looking to get a new bike this year , Himalayan is my first choice for 2 reason . This time the rides will be more with pillion and in KTM the comfort for pillion is not that great since the pillion keeps moving and 2nd the shocks are hard , so will the KTM 390 ADV will be different ?
Hello. Yes the Himalayan with it's softer set up will be more pillion friendly than the 390A. Since you are used to the KTM engine and handling characteristics I suggest that you consider the 390A. It's not that the pillion will struggle on this but just that it's not as comfortable as the Himalayan. In all other aspects the 390A trumps the Himalayan. Cheers!

Hi, Bosky, we love your reviews, now after launch of Himalayan 450, what is your comparison and opinion about KTM 390 Adventure, also pls advise which bike out of these two, results in less fatigue after long drive say 4-5 hours ,
Pls advise which one you recommend. .1. KTM 390 Duke new model 2. KTM 390 Adventure, Do you have any update, when KTM 390 ADV new model based on latest KTM Duke 390 bike
Bosky, I am planning to upgrade my cl350. I have options with respect to the pricing despite I know the fact that ADV390 and Interceptor belongs to different categories but they are more or less in the same bracket, please suggest what will be the better choice to buy? Should I consider parallel twin over feature loaded KTM or should I consider the KTM package over a heavy weight champion Interceptor ? Looking forward for your response sir
I bought a Vstrom mainly because I was sure I needed a twin for a smooth , vibration free ride. It is indeed very smooth and comfortble. You too own a Vstrom. I am curious how does this bike compare with vstrom as far as riding comfort is concerned.
The Vee is big, smooth and comfortable. Traveling on it is like traveling in a Volvo luxury bus. The 390 Adv is like traveling in a sports car! I have quoted an extreme example just to share the difference in a stark way. Cheers!
@@bigbearbangalore Coming from Bajaj world I was sick of vibrations. I just didn't want any of that. Does KTM run smootly at 100 without significant vibrations? Can we do 600 in a day without experiencing fatigue?
Both can take one for 600 kms in comfort. If am a relaxed, chilled and calm type on a motorcycle, I'll pick the Vee. If I am a sprightly and eager on a motorcycle, I'll take the 390 Adv. Quite different characteristics. It's a choice and depends on what one looks for.
Hello sir, Thank you for amazing video. I m planning to buy a KTM Adventure 250. Mostly I will be using for a daily commute in city for office use and once in a month outstation ride. Currently I m having a Honda unicorn 150. Is it ok to go for Adv 250? As i m a big guy 6.2 ft & 100 kgs Please reply....
Can you let me know the highway stability on cross-winds of KTM 390 adv as it is a light weight motorcycle? As most of heavy weight motorcycle are very stable , Can you please clear my doubt!!
Alright, I wanted to get an adventure bike. I first discovered your channel via a review on KTM adv 250, I was fixated on getting it. But on further research and cost+quality somehow I figured maybe I must go for an sx250. But again, I discover this video and I'm now thinking if I should look at KTM adv 390 (X version coz of budget). I'm super confused now. Would be super helpful if somebody could give a suggestion. BTW, I ride a pulsur 150 that's almost 10yrs old now. SX-250 is easy on the pocket, KTM 250 adv too slightly but KTM 390 adv is surely gonna leave a hole. So I'm wondering if its worth the extra money.
Yes, I would. Lighter & faster and superior power to weight ratio, is the 390 adventure and I would choose that any day over the heavier and stiff Inty. Cheers!
@@bigbearbangalore whew! that's food for thought 💭 was just about to trade in my adv390 for an inty for my upcoming mustang & spiti ride, mainly for the smoothness of the highway touring & the oomph appeal ofc
Good morning sir ! I have seen all the videos of 390 adv and Himalayan ! Now I know which is the right choice for my riding style . Thanks for helping me chose the right bike ! Just one more help 😊 should I go for standard version or the SW with adjustable suspension . Since my rides would be predominately on tar roads and bad roads which can be found in typical rides to treks ! Thank you 😊
Hello. Happy to hear that you've made your choice. Alloy wheel any day please. The threat of a punchure is not worth the adjustable suspension. Cheers!
@@jimingeorge4591 hey I ride a duke 390 , this time my ride would be more of touring with pillion most of the time so I am looking for good suspension and power close to duke 390 .
I have been contemplating selling my 2020 Himalayan and purchasing the 390 ADV and I couldn't find an appropriate video calling out real time pros / cons. To be honest, this was video I was looking for (you were on the dot when you mentioned after 80 Kmph, Himalayan will say "Humse na hoga" kinda lingo). Thanks to this team for putting up this video. I had a question - Should I consider "my personality fits the bike" factor before considering this bike (I'm 6'1, 100+kgs)
Hi! Glad you find our inputs useful. The 390ADV is a roomy motorcycle with a wider, longer and flatter rider seat so, a taller rider can also feel adequately comfortable. You can go for it. Once you switch, you'll be super pleasantly surprised at the bucket-full of extraordinary abilities that the KTM possesses. Cheers!
@@bigbearbangalore Picked up the KTM 390 ADV. I must tell that it is a pleasant surprise - the effortless manner it which it touches 70 - 80kmph is out of the world.
@@rpm8184 congratulations on your purchase you did clear my doubt on power but i had few doubts about suspension (in comparison to Himalayan), seat cushioning and is ground clearance enough as I stay in pune the roads are very bad it like pot holes in place of road rather than vice versa. Please reply thank you.
@@ivonman5277 Hi, the suspension is on the stiffer side when compared to the Himalayan. The alternative could be buying the Adventure SW version - you will get the adjustable suspension. The ground clearance is pretty good actually but could be slightly lesser than the Himalayan (please check bike comparison sites to verify)
I got my KTM 390 Adv in March 2020. Done only 17k on it so far (mostly highway and some city - I use a scooter in the city). This bike punches way above its weight - plenty of bang for the bucks. Very reliable and capable bike.
The 390Adv seat is on taller side. And it's a personal preference and comfort. Test ride to know if it is comfortable for you. Since it is a light motorcycle, the height is not much of a problem. Cheers!
Always before buying a bike.. load it up with what stuff u regularly carry and see if the bike is for u.. else u have to leave with some adjustments.. second, u need to know what are ur planned high adventure rides for next few years..
Enjoy watching your videos as always. You didn't touch upon the issue of low end torque. An Adv needs more pliable suspension. One can't go >80 in Himalayas so bad roads there needs better suspension right? If KTM can address the torque and suspension then this would be my next choice to buy. Currently riding Meteor350. Btw what is the location this was shot at?
Thanks. The low end torque could be better, however, it is still manageable once the rider gets the hang of the engine character. And the power this engine puts out when revved is a huge plus to get out of tight and steep places. The stiff suspension actually helps in really bad terrain since it's doesn't bottom out easily. It takes some getting used to and once done things become far easier. And like I said, a few riding lessons will help up the ride strategy and style for and on this motorcycle. Cheers! Location : Yelagiri
Nice video Sir. I am from Pune and planning to purchase a new bike soon. The KTM adventure 390 (the X variant ) is right on top of my list. I have been riding the Bajaj Discover 125 ST for 11 yrs now and have now decided to upgrade. I have a few queries regarding the Adv 390x and would highly appreciate if you could please help me out. 1.) I intend to have a single bike garage like most people, while there's no doubt that the Adv 390x is an excellent tourer, is it good for regular city commutes considering that it's low end torque is not that great ? 2.) I want to keep it for atleast 8-10 yrs, so is KTM good as a long term option ? 3.) And lastly, are there any things to keep in mind while I finalize this bike as I don't want to spend my hard earned 3.40 lacs on a wrong bike and then regret ? Thank you very much in advance and looking forward to your response 😊...Cheers !
The 390X is a good choice. There is not real lack of low end torque. In comparison to what it puts out at higher RPM it feels low at low revs. It's a good investment. In today's mid weight adventure tourer segment and if I had to have a one bike garage, this would be my choice.
@@bigbearbangalorethanks a lot for your response 😊. I would still wait a little more till the Triumph Scrambler 400x hits the market and then finalize between these 2 coz the Scrambler 400x also seems to be quite promising.

Hi Bosky it's your Scottish 🏴 friend. I have heard horror stories of failures with the KTM. Is there any problems you have come across.?? Cheers Stevie
Hi Stevie, nope, no such issues here. I guess the smaller KTMs like the 125, 250 & 390 which are the ones available in India, do not suffer from issues like the bigger ones do.
Thanks for sharing your view. We enjoy some humor and digs and pokes and banter which are part of the game. We don't take anything too seriously nor do we take offense easily. Cheers!

No TVS BMW... No defence to the marriage that doesn't last as long as TVS Suzuki! Between the two I will go for the 390ADV. Unless if I am a big fan of retro motorcycles. Then I'd pick the 650.
@@bigbearbangalore thank you very much Sir. I really appreciate your quick turn up 😀
How's the suspension feels on normal n Highways?
It's a firm ride.
Welcome back Sir. Please do a review on xpulse 200t 4v if possible. Thank you.
Thank you! Will do once we get hold of a 4V. Cheers!
Thanks. Yes you can. And if budget permits go for the 390X.
@@bigbearbangalore but what about the milage aspect? As Adv 250 will give around 40-kmpl while on the other hand Adv 390 will give max 30-kmpl.
How can i join rides with you ?? would love to ride along
Hello. Will whenever we plan a ride that is outside of our normal rides. Cheers!
Can you let me know the highway stability on cross-winds of KTM 390 adv as it is a light weight motorcycle?
As most of heavy weight motorcycle are very stable , Can you please clear my doubt!!
Yes being super light it tends to shake a little more than heavier motorcycles.
What's your opinion on KTM 250 Adventure ?
If the 390A is not in one's budget, the 250A is a very good option too. Cheers!
@@bigbearbangalore oh got it. thank you!!!!
Now is the perfect time do a comparison vireo with its 3rd cousin, the dominar.
You mean the country cousin? 😉
@@bigbearbangalore exactly!
You know where I would point to. 😁
KTM is not for the budget conscious to be honest. both price & mileage, although the X helps save quite a bit. It's all about pure motoring fun. :D
interesting! curious if you would trade your interceptor scrambler for this? would love to hear your reasons why or why not
Yes, I would.
Suspension and sprightlyness is of primary importance when on the kind of terrain you plan to ride on. Oomph and pomp comes last.
@@bigbearbangalore true this, am also considering the zedling suspension upgrades
Cheers!
@newagesavage2910 If I may ask, why not the X version?
@@jimingeorge4591 hey I ride a duke 390 , this time my ride would be more of touring with pillion most of the time so I am looking for good suspension and power close to duke 390 .
Loved your jacket!.. link please
Hi! If you referring to the green tuoring one, it's a Scott Motosport Adventure Jacket and it's no longer available in India.
Subtle and Brilliant 😎👏🤘👍
Thank you. Cheers!
Congrats! Awesome.
👍
Is height an issue ? If yes then what should be a standard height?
The 390Adv seat is on taller side. And it's a personal preference and comfort. Test ride to know if it is comfortable for you. Since it is a light motorcycle, the height is not much of a problem. Cheers!
Awesome 🎉 congratulations
👍
Very good video
👍🙏
Nice content! cheers
Thanks, cheers!
Always before buying a bike.. load it up with what stuff u regularly carry and see if the bike is for u.. else u have to leave with some adjustments.. second, u need to know what are ur planned high adventure rides for next few years..
Thats a good approach too. Thanks.
@@bigbearbangalore Thought so, was there at Yelagiri on bike ride 2 weeks back!
Which one did you finalise/purchased brother? I'm also a one bike garage person and would be keeping my bike for long term.
@@sumantkmehta hey bro I have finalized the KTM Adventure 390X. I would be purchasing it in December. Are you planning to buy it as well ?

@@bigbearbangalore thank you for the wishes and this important information sir.
Your videos are too good. Keep it up.

What about ktm adv 250
If budget is limited and 42bhp is intimidating, then the 250Adv is a good buy too.
I own both the 390 and the Himi. The Himi can handle harder trails than the 390 and is easier to maintain, but EVERYWHERE else the 390 is better.

Agree. Cheers!
Sir my height is 5"8 . Is there any issue riding this bike .?
May be, may not be. Try it, and if it is a concern, go for the low seat height version. Cheers!
I sold my Himalayan 411 after 4 years and bought adv 390 x hopefully KTM doesnt disappoint me as RE did

Hello sir,
Kindly help us fellow riders by sharing your experience on 390
Finally I got hands on this beauty in last Dec.. Same color.. Trust me it's an excellent machine !!
Absolutely agree with every single word from your review!!
Loved the way u started - part 2
"Plz don't bitch and complain" well said Sir.. I can proudly say as an owner !!
Nice! Best wishes. And yes it's a great all rounder and as you get to know the machine better and skill up, this motorcycle rewards the rider. Cheers!
Hi Bosky it's your Scottish 🏴 friend.
I have heard horror stories of failures with the KTM. Is there any problems you have come across.??
Cheers
Stevie
Hi Stevie, nope, no such issues here. I guess the smaller KTMs like the 125, 250 & 390 which are the ones available in India, do not suffer from issues like the bigger ones do.
the 390 and the Honda CRF300L both have pluses and minuses on each other.
Yes! They do. Cheers!
Ha Ha Ha so true , enjoyed this episode
Happy to hear. Thanks.
The duke is the best infact for touring!
Yes it can be more so for younger riders.
Amazing content Bosky! But your sentence "this is the best middleweight ADV in India" will not age well for sure 😉 or at least hopefully.
Thanks.
And agree that statement may not age well with some. 🙂 Just my opinion that I chose to share. Cheers!
Bro laughing by saying BMW is TVS built while simping for KTM which is a Bajaj built .. Couldn't understand the constant hitjob on its critics
Thanks for sharing your view. We enjoy some humor and digs and pokes and banter which are part of the game. We don't take anything too seriously nor do we take offense easily. Cheers!
Call it a roasting Video 😆, i'm a proud 390 Adventure Owner since 2 years, and i'm fully satisfied with it .
👍👍👍
Adv tourer , road biased as per ktm . ( they said so when heavily criticised for the lack of spoke wheels)Which other adv tourer in India has a hard suspension like it? This is some major fan boism .
Thanks for sharing your opinion. Cheers!
True absolutely.....
If it gots tube less spoke rim dn it wl b the best among ol sub 600cc segment..
No TVS BMW... No defence to the marriage that doesn't last as long as TVS Suzuki!
However, RE Himalayan (first gen) is rusted iron and replacing it with the orange rust Bajaj KTM is like buying the iron that is going to rust!
I want to ride a motorcycle as simple as a Yamaha with just 80kmph.... But I will not carry my tools that are as heavy as my pillion
Fill it, ride it and enjoy it
Ok.
I am sure dirt Don doesn't appreciate those comments 😂
