    I'm unfortunately suffering from tennitus in my right ear and I'm only 31 due to my plug slipping off my ear a few rounds, hearing damage is 100% irreversible, thank you for the review I'm going with the upgraded bolts!

    Referring to digital vs. analog, the Bolts take the signal from the microphones and convert those signals into"bits" of data. Numbers that can be manipulated by a computer chip. This makes it possible to tailor and process sounds very precisely. Conversely, with ear protection that uses analog technology, the microphones pick up the sound and simply convert it into small electrical signals that are amplified and fed to the speakers.
    Hope this makes sense . I know you were thinking the opposite of digital must be vacuum tubes or something like that. Oh, and the Honeywell team member that you talked to did you a real dis service.

      @Cystum Qrash my bolt has a good amount of hiss on high volume, but ok with lower volumes

      @Cystum Qrash Not really a good comparison. My old ones have less hiss than the bolts. Way too many variables to just make a blanket statement like that.

    Good reviews thanks a lot! I've been outta the game for a couple years and just getting back into it. I'm just gonna buy the impact sports again; I do remember that i was able to wear them and still put on my kevlar helmet with them being so low profile and they're only $47 on amazon cant beat that. You should consider putting a affiliate link in the description

    X250 faster processing than impact sports original - not really important as impact sports work just fine. Stereo sound - very very important and great feature and this is the main difference in electronics. For what reviewer is doing, it may not be as important, but if you want to be aware to where sounds come from, this feature is very important.

    Thank you for detailed review!
    I looked up some hearing loss websites, and they say a gunshot sound is 2 to 5 milliseconds.
    (Eyeblink is 300 lol)
    If the Bolt works in .5 milliseconds that means the sound never gets a chance to do damage. FWIW.
    I suffer from Tinnitus already so I'm inclined to be super cautious with my hearing and get the Bolts even though they cost more.

      I believe you may be a little mixed up about how electronic ear protection works. The electronic aspect has nothing to due with the ear protection provided. The ear protection is passive and always there as long as you are wearing the muffs just like non electronic ones. The electronic ones are merely add a microphone and a speaker that plays environmental sounds. The response time is how quickly the circuitry switches off and on when a sound greater than 82db is present. When a gunshot is fired it switches off and doesn't play it through the speaker. If you are worried about ear protection the nrr is more important, the quicker response time would make it less annoying when having a conversation when others are firing.

    So better to get the originals instead of the bolts ? Is ambient sound better ?
    I don't care about cost , heard the bolts suffer from a hissing noise did you hear try his ?
    Thanks

    • @Guns_and_Outdoors_Channel
      @Guns_and_Outdoors_Channel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi SAV, ambient noise is the same in my opinion. I don’t have a hissing noise in mine nor does my buddy who has a pair of bolts as well. Last night I was at my range and I forgot my bolts so I borrowed a regular pair of Howard lights and I could hear the hissing noise a little bit in those however usually again in my opinion that’s happens when there’s a low battery. In that case I was using my ranges local set.

      I had the harsh screeching sound in my Bolts like others have complained. Couldn’t get it to go away. I returned them and went back to my original HLs.

    So basically the only difference is how fast the audio level comes back up? The pad thickness of the bolts is irrelevant to me because im using noisefighters.

  • @markd5468
    @markd5468 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    maybe just purchase the bolt foam pads if you are on a budget?

    • @Guns_and_Outdoors_Channel
      @Guns_and_Outdoors_Channel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a really good idea Mark. To be honest I’ve been running the gel pads and I’ve been finding out they were out in less than six months so I’m actually back to my bowl original foam pads and because they’re so thick they are very very durable and they work fantastic

  • @ccwstraightshooter9761
    @ccwstraightshooter9761 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Way better if you take them apart and stuff memory foam in them.

  • @ek8652

    Would you say the Bolts are better or worse than the original impact sports? I’ve heard mixed reviews. Some say that they are worse than the originals. I ordered a set of the bolts and waiting to receive them. I wanted to use my current impact sports for friends that come to the range or for a backup pair. So I thought I’d “upgrade” with the Bolts. Hope I don’t regret it. I got them for a decent price cause I don’t think they are selling well. I plan on adding the Noisefighters to them.

    • @Guns_and_Outdoors_Channel
      @Guns_and_Outdoors_Channel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      EK, You’re good brother... I did the exact same. In my experience they are slightly better the the originals. In either my Nambu, SKS or my recent video doing the HACS drill I forgot my Bolts and borrowed PBR’s Sports. Here’s the thing I find that the Sports ear foam thickness is thinner then I like which makes them (with glasses on) more uncomfortable. Try your BOLTS and come back here and let me know what you think? I think they are like 10-15% better so you have to kind of go back and forth.. -JS

    • @ek8652
      @ek8652 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Guns and Outdoors Channel Thanks for the response. I feel a little better now knowing I’ll get an improvement. I’ll keep the eBay gel pads on my original impacts. They feel good but don’t block much noise. I think the Bolts with Noisefighters could be the best combo without having to pay the big bucks for Peltors or MSA Sordins.
