This is truly the best woody custom I’ve ever seen. No head mod has been more accurate and it’s a shame the paint on the squishy head failed
Thank you! Yeah, I was too ambitious with that but a regular resin head should fix it.
Water slide for the eyes was a genius idea. One thing i would do just to be safe was paint on a clear coat to protect it. Or perhaps just clear nail polish. Great video, and honestly amazing idea for a more move accurate woody that I would love to try one day. Out of curiosity, would you ever accept commissions for the printing of the hands and head?
Clear nail polish sounds interesting, might be worth a try! I don't accept commissions at the moment cos I'd rather use the time to do new things rather than repeating what I've done.

@@zedabyu you should have used flexible paint. I usually use it for painting squishies. Flexible paint doesn’t crack as easily. It’s more like a rubber. You could possibly use a clear silicone and use a paint brush to apply it.

You know I buy the Woody slow wood bucks a witch Box but it's not like looks like this because there's already making a wooden slow horse bugs but not like you because this is what this is what the boost bugs is better than you
Have you tried using latex based paints or silicone based paints? A paint that would stretch/flex with the malleable resin would work an awful lot better, but it would be harder to paint with
I would love to try but do not know where to start. I don't think they are as common as acrylic paints, are they? Do you have any recommendations on which brands to get?

Geez thats the best custom toy mode woody head ive seen by far in terms of film accuracy and sculpt. Just need to figure out a way to keep the paint from cracking and its pretty much perfect! 🤩
Haha yeah that cracking paint is annoying. I might have to sacrifice the flexibility if I want this to work out.
@@zedabyu How does the toy company color Woody's head? Is it a kind of material that is colored? I wonder if there's a way in infuse the color with the resin.
@@e-mananimates2274 Companies have a lot more options cos they are not restricted by the limitations of a 3D printer. Factories make a mold of the prototype head that is hard and they can cast it with pre-dyed materials that is softer and flexible to get a biege colored Woody head.
@@zedabyu I see. I wonder if you have any other ideas on coloring the Woody head without any unsightly cracks. The trial and error process you must go through must be even more laborious than when I try creating animation rigs.
It's probably similar to how prop makers color silicone prosthetics for movies and what not, painting with silicone paints I guess. I might look into that but since I can just print the head with hard resin and paint it regularly with acrylics, I'll probably go this route instead cos experimenting with these materials can get expensive sometimes 🤮

I remember when I was around 4 or 5 when the original Toy Story film was released, my mom bought me a Woody doll. It was the one with the teeth-bearing smile and the pull string was really fast unlike the film. It bothered me back then that they didn't make him look like the movie.

Your Toy Story videos are so fun. Definitely earned a sub! A bit of white paint on your finger and a colored pencil can help get that worn in look on the “jeans”

The voice box audio is better than the ones online
It's ripped directly from the movie so it should be good. I also took some of his regular phrases like 'Pull my strings' and 'Coast is clear'. I just don't like how fragile the wires are so I might find another way to do the voice box.
I use to have a woody doll and Jesse. One thing that needs to be modified is the way woody hangs when he's being held by one arm. In toy story 1 when Andy is getting into the van after buzz gets knocked out of the window you can see that woody is upright when Andy is carrying him by 1 hand. But the ones I had when you held them by one hand their heads would go down and their pants and boots would come up so they would be upside down from their heads being to heavy. They need to stay upright as if they are hanging from something by 1 arm. Buzz needs karate chop action, Needs to glow in dark and the purple should be lighter. I see alot of people posting videos of movie accurate and none look movie accurate.
This video reminds me of that scene from Toy Story 2 were that guy was restoring woody for the museum

I'll do a demonstration on how you can extract the lines from a trailer as an example in a future video, and what programs I used. You will be able to extract anything you want after that.
I think it would have worked better if you could have printer the head already in his skin tone color so the paint couldn't break off while squeezing

You could have tried resin casting the 3D printed head using a pigmented 45D PU or some other flexible material.

So do you think you could fix the voice box of a vintage Barbie doll? And i watch a lot of doll customizing videos and I do some myself. I use chalk pastels but when I wanna change color of clothing I make fabric paint and heat set it. U gotta be careful or it gets hard. You probably already know this lol but I wanted to share some of my tips ☺️
I am really bad with electronics so no, probably can't fix voice boxes. I have tried fabric paints before and you are right, they do get hard and crack easily and I have avoided using them since.

This video was great! I think that Woody is one of the hardest toys from Toy Story to make, so the fails are expected (trust me I had thousands when making mine). I'm currently making one and I'm using the Woody from Disney store as the base with parts from other Woodies (mostly the cheaper Thinkway ones) I have a video of me building it on my TH-cam channel.
I want to ask, what would I have to do to get a pair of hands from you? I technically ruined the ones I planned to use for mine and I'm after a fresh set to use for my custom, let me know, I'd be happy to buy some,.
I think making a buzz lightyear accurate is more harder

Ohhh yas, I have seen some older Thinkway Woodies that look really similar to the Collection series Woody, only some differences like the color of the buckle and the hat not being stringed. Might have been better getting those since they are so much more affordable. What else is different about those older Woodies?

Maybe liquid chrome by Molotow would work best
I tried that. Their chrome oxidizes after a while so you can't store them for too long. Mine doesn't shine anymore

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone could help me. I got one of those interactive Woody dolls that react to his hat being put on and off got it a few years ago but recently he has begun to malfunction with the hat feature so I want to get a new one but I noticed they began cheating out on them the bodies are now made entirely of plush instead of having hard plastic hands and boots and an actual badge so I was wondering if I could mod my old woody if I buy one of the cheaper ones but put the head and voice box into the old body would it work like before? I would assume yes since I'm just moving the components from one body to another.
i think modding it would work but it wouldn’t be able to detect when the hat goes missing. not many versions of woody had that from what i remember.
