Amazing Custom!!! Love it. As a toy customizer myself, I recommend a few small steps. First add a wire between the 2 pieces you are connecting. The add super glue as a temp gluing (it won't last) . Lastly add Apoxie Sculpt to the seam and that will help lock it in.
Thank you! I have tried that with a previous project but maybe I didn't drill the hole deep enough or the glue I used suck cos the wires couldn't even stay in place long enough for me to fill the gaps in 😂
I was surprised when you said floor polish but she looked super glossy. Really nice job, so much drama in this one!
Drama indeed 😵 Floor polish was my first gloss but it didn't work well with the brush so I stopped using it. I am also surprised it worked so well with the airbrush!
@@zedabyu Do you need to seal the floor polish afterwards or does it dry well and stay pretty glossy without any sealant

I’ve seen doll customs, so here’s an advice for you.
When removing a doll’s head, like a Barbie, try putting the head in hot water first, until it’s soft and squishy, then you can remove the head off of the neck peg easier.
I do suggest looking up doll customs and repaints for any more tips on doll/toy customization, like Dollightful and Hextian.

Honestly man, I really like the reviews. Especially when you compare them to other versions of the same doll/figure. I like seeing the differences and learning if they're screen accurate or not.

Omg I know right! I painted this under 3 sets of lights and after I brought it out into the other room, the face just darkened SO much. I think I really need to constantly take the heads out to see their true color under natural light before I continue painting 😭

The glossy floor polish really added a nice touch to the doll. Everything already looked good but then you elevated it by adding the gloss!

oh it took a WHILE to get those arms right, I just didn't show it 😂 the arm folds are not really accurate though and that was where I struggled the most
I really like the gloss you used on this figure and i think it'd go really well on most other characters for a more coloured plastic look since slinky looked a little rough
That's so true I might go over the rest with a little of that gloss too. This was my first time airbrushing and I love the effect

You know...you could actually spray paint the doll's body to match the 3D print head and arms. I wonder if that would work or if the body would end up being too dark afterwards.

Yes, this face was much better, this Bo peep is 100% identical to the animation design. I was excited to see the face up but the whole part about the hands was amazing. I like how each finger was sculpted together but made like a real hand separated and then just posted. Companies who make Character dolls from Disney, Pixar, and other awesome films, should really look into this method and do a test line of dolls made like this. Definitely going to like because would love to one day see a lamp version of Bo, that be cute and cool to see replicated in the future.
I guess it's easier for toy companies to make the fingers combined because they have to mass produce them and those small gaps will probably cause some failures

Dunno if anyone has mentioned it but the way that 3D scanner works is it rapidly takes pictures of the subject, the base has the dots on it so the camera can calibrate and learn how far away the base is. Once enough images are taken by the scanner it aligns them internally then uses the images to best estimate for it self how the object looks and begins produced a 3D mesh of the object. There’s some techno jargon you could look into in how it handles the image data but this is the basic gist of how most 3D scanners work unless they’re the kind that uses a laser but that’s more for large objects or outdoor scanning. That small one is what’s called a white light scanner.
Hextian, a Doll makeover channel, also did one in this doll, perhaps can help u out for future projects

I think you missed the opportunity to make Bo's taped lower arm detachable, to mimic the scene where woody accidentally pulls of bos arm
On the channel, Catmeleon, when she goes to repose her dolls, she uses a wire and then epoxy to reconnect. That may be one way to try when you have limbs that can't be hidden by fabric
The trick is to "TWIST AND PULL" I dont think anybody has spoken any truer words.
I like the video reviews actually. But i also like long vids so i dont mind if they are added onto the customisation process
Yeah I think it would be best to combine them to make it a longer video so that people who missed out on the review could have a better context of the customizing.

Hi there im facinated with your project and have a Mini too. I noticed that when I scanned allready painted figures, I have to increase the protector light while scanning (like you did - above Level 5) but then the scans are (like yours) to sharp/noisy/uneven. Did you really brushed about everything in zbrush to have a crisp and smooth scan?
Painted figures are generally harder to scan and the mesh will be rougher but as you have seen, I don't really need them to capture all the details but just the overall shape and size, so I'm not too bothered about it. But for unpainted, it has no trouble capturing the details. You might want to try a scanning spray that will evaporate after a few hours to cover up the paints when you scan.

I allready tried aesub scanning spray, but the stuff is also creating an uneven surface and does not evaporate completely.. yeah better than priming all over the paintjob but still not great. Photogrammatry on the other hand is not exact, so I still want to use the scanner. Only solution I could think of is creating a silicone mold, cast it in white and then scan it, but that's kinda inefficient;(
