Agree it looks like how I know mr potatoe head to look not once havw they ever made one look in his toy mode im the first movie I wonder if this guy sells extras he can make I'd pay for one of this
I love how the movie replica looks like he's looked into the abyss and got a response, while the toy version looks friendly and cute with a dash of emptieness
Yes, trying to make a digital copy of a toy that only existed digitally and then printing it out to paint it to look like what it looked like in the digital rendered film 😵🤔🙃
This is hands down the greatest potato head custom ever made! If you don't mind could I know which paints you used for the body? That colour is spot on.
I don't think it's right. Still abit too dull without light shining straight at it. I have ordered some more paints to test out and will update it when I make Mrs. Potato.
Despite the whole suffering on sanding the parts (and then later re-sanding it again), it turned out very good! I've never realized that there's not much (or none at all) accurate Mr. Potato Head out there. It truly looks good!
Would you ever plan on selling/ sharing any of your 3d print files? Your work has been pretty inspiring to me as of late and I’ve been back to my woody doll because of it, even modeling custom boots in blender right now, but I’d absolutely love to be able to print my own potatohead one day and this model is pretty perfect 👀
Well done kiddo! Very true to original.I will tell you a secret about when these toys came out- they weren’t consistent in color or exact sizes one to another! That’s one reason they came in a bucket, if they were displayed on a shelf you could see which had a more orange face or weird colored lips. Kids traded one another for parts they liked, I remember I played marbles to win a arm from another kid because my grandmother didn’t like one of mine because it seemed to be making an inappropriate gesture. I wish I had him now to send to you, but at one point we sold everything we owned just to keep our family together. Yes, I am the oldest person on the internet and I approve your work. Way to go!
I can totally see myself trading parts and getting obsessed with getting the most accurate one 😂 You have the most insightful and interesting comments!
I think it would be interesting to see his arms get cast in white rubber with a thick wire armature underneath so that his arms can bend into different poses. Not really important at all for screen accuracy, but it would be a fun feature for a posable adult collectable version of Mr. Potatohead.
He’s amazing!!!!!!!!!!! This is the most realistic mr potato head I’ve ever seen, it even looks better than the movie. Wait does that make sense?!?!??😂😂😂😂😂😂. Love your videos
The 3d printing here is spectacular!!! Absolutely would love to see what else can be done with it in the future with toys like Trixie. I am really curious if they ever made a tour guide barbie from toy story 2 because I gave it a search on youtube and its pretty slim pickings...
This whole series makes little 12 year old me so happy. I always got so bugged over the fact that none of the Toy Story toys were even remotely similar to what you saw in the movies. I always wondered why they didn't just use the film models from Pixar! It seems sometimes it really is best to do it yourself.
Yeah I used to wonder about that too. But later I realized it was just down to cost and reducing choking hazards. With those separate eyes and eyebrows there's no way they could market it for toddlers, which is the original target group for Mr. Potato Head. Connecting the eyes and feet reduces choking hazards and makes production cheaper.
@@HyperGolemreading this and realizing that it’s because of cost and a choking hazard Both make me feel like playskool is cheap and that toddlers are stupid
Your work just keeps getting better! It's amazing how professional this looks. That texturing on his potato skin really is the icing on the cake here. I would have thought you'd stolen a factory prototype lmao
Man, this is absolutely stunning stuff. Like, even adding the injection holes and the mould parting lines. I'm sure some people wouldn't even do that for their own customs!
damn Mr.potato looks so accurate from other custom Mr.patato i seen out there i think this one is the best so far even the paint/color looks so good , i finished all the ads in this video trying to support the channel and btw my jaw drop seeing benson and trixie💚.
Finally, Hasbro all my life pissed me off after I watched the first movie, cause they never get it right, I remember the old potato heads did have bendy arms when I was a kid but they’re long gone by now.
I never understood why they never came up with the screen accurate Mr. potato head. Every potato head I ever had as a kid looked nothing like the movie. thanks for all your hard work.
Probably cost saving. I think it's cheaper to combine the parts like eyes and shoes and produce them as one piece compared to separating them and having to double the machines
The bendable arms aren’t removable unless you cut from inside the potato. They are “bolted” on with rubber, and the hole is larger than the other body part holes
This is got to be your best custom by far besides woody but I think this custom is the most accurate custom ever made I’m working on a custom potato head myself
I will never understand why they don't actually sell screen accurate versions of all the toys... Glad that it's actually possible to do it yourself now lol
Around the 5:45 mark: The bucket was probably apart of it when it was originally created in 1949. I was a kid in the 70s and mine came in a box. It was a pain because it was the slide in top and bottom and gapped letting the parts (arms, legs, and the rest) to fall out of it. Then it would lose its shape. It just wasn’t a good way to store it. That’s probably why they had it sealed in plastic wrap. So needless to say, I eventually lost a lot of the parts and the lost interest in it. I never got a Mrs. Potato Head because they were really popular with girls. So they sold out quick.
As someone who values the look and function of the toy, i can say bendy arms are 100% worth getting, they look better (to me) and functions as they would in-universe, but they are pricey for sure so i can see why you'd opt out of getting them My few complaints are the back-compartment looks too small, but its a minor nit-pick, and the ears are definitely too small, but i still really like it This is probably the 2nd best potato head ive seen
BTW the bendy arms don't always come in a bucket. In the 80s they were packaged normally (the most common), with extra pieces, with a kid, or with a toy car (the least common).
@@zedabyu If you do, just note that the wires in the arms (or any bendy toy for that matter) break easily, thus causing the arms to lose some of their posability. It shouldn't really matter though, because having actual bendy arms would make it a lot more accurate, since they actually were bendy in the movies.
This looks infinitely better than the original!

the answer is money... Mr Potato Head is not a Disney brand, they would have to pay the license.(Not that this justify this mistake by Disney.)
