I can’t believe Disney didn’t do this themselves, just seeing this as a possibility, you have to wonder why it’s so hard for them, I would love to see you make an accurate Cinderella doll from the film or even aurora
I am sure they know it's possible, but to mass produce for sale, they have to take into consideration cost effectiveness and profit, so that might be why they made some of the choices that affected screen accuracy.
The funny thing is that making a movie accurate Jessie removes a lot of the playability, so my childhood is ACTUALLY ruined by the fact that if Jessie were a real, relatively movie accurate doll like the one you made she would be an absolute mess after being played with.
Haha yes, IF she were handmade. I am sure with the right machines and tools, factories will be able to mass produce a screen accurate Jessie that has a flexible head, rooted hair (not just glued), and durable body with the right details. But then again, it might be too expensive a doll to be played with, but definitely playable 😬
a great Reason why Al got really excited finding an authentic Woody doll with slight damage, I can imagine how many dolls he searched for that were unrepairable.
I never thought I would see someone put implants in a Jessie doll. You truly have the most movie accurate woody. If only Thinkway would accommodate these standards.
@@zedabyu Do you think you'll ever make a Accurate Custom Stinky Pete from Toy Story? I've always wanted to make my own and could really use instructions.
When toy story 2 came out all I wanted was a Jesse doll. My parents went nuts when we couldn't get one exactly like the movie. Thank you for putting in the work that the pixar merch department did not lol
Hahaha must have been disappointing to find all the Jessies not looking like they should have. Even after 20 years, there still isn't one, which is what inspired this project. Glad you like it!
A tip for decals, the varnish is applied 3 layers, one followed by another after 5 minutes and let it dry for 12 hours, then to apply, do not immerse the decal in water, rather, moisten a kitchen paper and deposit on it the decal for 40 seconds, the result will surprise you :)
you are insanely talented!! i have a jessie doll that i still love today at 20 years old. my mom called her “hard head jessie” because she wasn’t most comfortable doll to fall asleep with lol. jessie is so darling and i loved the final product. thanks for sharing the process! ❤️
This was a lovely build, my heart feels lighter just seeing her with actual yarn hair! And the white cording around her hat is a perfect match. I like the head sculpt better as well, her mouth/smile looks a lot nicer and more natural IMO. also, some cleaning tips from a maker that likes casually researching laundry/cleaning fabrics in general (please take with a grain of salt, I am no expert and there's a lot more I want to learn): what does most of the work with cleaning laundry is actually just getting the fabric /wet/, rather than agitating it. water will dissolve any water soluble substances given enough time. A little gentle agitation definitely helps, but a lot of the time people can overdo it and just cause more wear and tear to fabrics than necessary. Dolls are easy to soak, but their small parts tend to just get wrecked in a washing machine's harsh agitation sadly. The reason your alcohol wasn't working to clean the dirt from her white fabric body was because whatever substance was causing it to look dirty wasn't alcohol soluble. But since the water wash did brighten her up, it looked like it was mostly water soluble. The chemistry rule of thumb I've always heard is "like dissolves like". The mark on the top of her hat kind of looked like it came from a marker with alcohol based ink, so the alcohol lifted it off. If you have a streaming service that has it, I can highly recommend watching "the laundry guy" if you want some good practical laundry knowledge, and also looking into fabric/garment conservation techniques through online libraries. Conservation is a gold mine of knowledge for treating all kinds of materials properly since it's so science based, rather than listening to random laundry advice from people on the internet that may-or-may-not actually work :p good luck and I hope you do more projects like this!
Don’t get why no one has tried to replicate that yet. It would stay on her head so much better if it was felt because first of all it would be lightweight and second the felt would cling to the yarn
For the green stitching on the chest, you could have either painted it white before stitching over it or, even better, painted it yellow to remove it completely and only have actual white stitches
My friend and I loved this video, we watched it at school a few weeks ago. it's helped inspire him to make movie accurate characters in the future. it does look pretty good to us

Haha, I think they had to make sacrifices when it comes to mass producing toys, making it less accurate so that it's more affordable for kids. Collector's edition would be very expensive and might not be profitable enough for these companies.
This is so Accurate It’s way better than a lot of people say it’s movie accurate Jessie’s but this right here that is movie accurate so movie accurate looks just like the movie

When applying paint to a model I recommend using a thin tipped brush and dabbing the paint on instead of brushing it on. This method will allow you to add white paint and have it looking good. You can use thinner and do it in multiple layers for a better result. Also if you don’t know, I also recommend painting the base of the model in lacquer and using enamel paint for details this means you can use enamel thinner to cleanup mistakes while keeping the base layer safe.
