I've been freegan at Bristol the whole 2017 year, was fun, free 0 malalties and nice experience, people waste Hella lot food and it was a little city, imagine new York m. Crazy
it should be made illegal to throw any food at all in the bins. nothing needs to go waste if the companies could only order a bit less. Produce should be priced half after 2 days on the shelf and after 3-4 days just keep a free for all shelf where people can just pick up what they want. if you do have to throw food put them in cardboard boxes and leave it at the back of the store than throwing it in the dumpster. let people get clean food. people who run these companies or stores should definitely visit Africa and some south Asian countries to see how and what they eat. what you find in dumpsters here is enjoyed for over a week as healthy food in such countries. its more painful to watch meat being thrown away. its was a life, and it died to feed you and died a brutal death. Its just horrible to destroy a life and destroy it again after death.

To be fair, better computerised ordering systems have more than halved the waste. But the publicity some courted a decade ago certainly sharpened supermarkets resolve to make freeganism impossible. They are very touchy / defensive about the waste problem, and it's easier to deny it if it's locked away.
